@Vecna I was wrong about enfp I think Taylor swift is an infp. Because she can’t be an intp but she uses both Si as a relief function and Ne as an auxiliary function while she can either be Ti or Fi dom but I believe she is Fi dom Which makes her Fi + Ne + Si + Te = infp

She could be an infj because sometimes Ni can be mistaken as Si and the way Taylor is a deep thinker and feels very personally makes me believe her second function is either Fi or Fe so (esfp, enfp, infj or isfj) Taylor is too introspective to be esfp so that rules out esfp. Enfp- but Taylor I don’t see her as having an inferior Si, Taylor is a rule follower I think she isn’t rebellious so not enfp. Which leaves infj and isfj. Inferior Ne is afraid to try new things but Taylor is creative and experimental in her work so she can’t be isfj which leaves infj which makes sense her using a Ni-ti loop in the way of her deep thinking and unique insight into looking at life and her life and others lives.

@@YourMom-iy6cv but for real... Who said that we find any relief in the third function? Is there any prof for this? Did Carl Jung or Myers Briggs claim that? Nope, that's just a theory coming from the internet community. Most of ESFJs and ESTJs when they get stressed will look for relief and comfort in things they know, things that give them a sense of nostalgia and are proved to work well.

You always do a terrific analysis of Taylor's ESFJ traits. It amazes me how she stays on such a focused path professionally when she has such intense personal inner thoughts.

Can you talk about the weaknesses/insecurities of each type? You're very good at that. As an ENTP sometimes I feel so misunderstood. I really love this video because you analyse beyond the stereotype, a whole video series revolving around a topic like that would be nice.

@@EricWen I find that people see my way of trying to learn/connect as argumentative or as a debate. I remember one time when I was on a date with this girl that I really liked I asked her a lot of questions about philosophy , politics, her life, things she truly believed in. I thought we were having a nice discussion then she got mad and said "Why are you interrogating me?" a lot of us find that our crazy ideas, thoughts and desires to learn everything are just not welcome or they are seen as "not normal" Michael Pierce did a great video called Revisiting the types: ENTP (Or something like that) where he kind of goes into depth about something similar. A good place to start on research would just be typing "ENTP misunderstood." into google, there will be people complaining about a similar thing. Also, a lot of people tend see us as silly or not serious, like walking joke machines.

@@SurprisedPika666 I related to this, I used to ask people similar questions like what do you plan to do with your life? What do you believe is the purpose of life? Why do you not believe god can be an asshole? Etc and they all thought I was being weird or crazy. So it was just better to ask what is your favorite song or movie or book so people don’t get offended and share ideas. It’s kind of annoying how ENTPs are stereotyped as a chaotic asshole or debater when a lot of entps I talked to don’t seem to act like that and just likes to share various interests.

@@SurprisedPika666 I think any type can be misunderstood. At least you ENTPs are charismatic. I'm an INFJ, and I've always felt like an alien that was just dropped off on planet Earth. I understand people, but they don't seem to get me and just think I'm weird, because my brain works differently. I used to try to fit in, but I eventually realized that that was never going to work. I still enjoy positive human connections, but I'm more comfortable with just being by myself and not being understood, instead of trying hard to make everyone like me.

I love to be challenged, asked questions, learn newly, curious about newer ways of thinking, exploring and it turns exhaustive to him, when I think of multiple scenarios/possibilities I'm not trying to annoy or be argumentative on purpose. I just like to examine situations, sometimes detached from myself and explore perspectives even the ones I don't agree to. But none of the above makes sense to most. As an ENFJ, I can relate to the Fe-Ti imbalance. It’s taken a long time to finally put the work into having more self-worth outside of the tribe. In my case, my identity was tied to my career so I put so much energy into creating a positive environment for my co-workers as their manager, especially at the start of the pandemic. This carried over into my next job but having a child forced me to improve my work-life balance which in turn helped with build my Ti identity. Great analysis, this is a song I definitely relate to.

I'm not even an ESFJ but as an ISFP whose tritype is 641, her issues are somehow veeeeeery relatable lol. Might be a shadow functions thing, and probably why I tend to love ESFJs so much. This song also displays how insecure Taylor is with her Ti, using it to beat herself up rather than being really objective about herself. I think it can be a downside of low and repressed Ti. Once again, very interesting video and I appreciate how you analyze people's types by deconstructing cognitive functions and explaining them in a very clear and yet detailed way. Keep the good job!

Really interesting yes how diff types can relate to the same struggles but in diff ways or focusing on slightly diff parts. I think Taylor also writes really well in a way where the songs can be so poignant for all diff types of ppl. Also Agree about it giving some insights about lower or repressed Ti! being an ENFP I think this is kind of inherent when extroverts slip into their introverted functions, if I get too caught up in Fi/Si its messy, its not the way I'm supposed to optimally use Fi.

Enfj and swiftie here, I listen to her songs cause I relate to it a lot. I do that you know self sabotaging, determining my self worth based on others opinion about me. It’s really toxic and not healthy and I’m trying my hardest to stop but somethings just don’t work out. If u wanna listen to Taylor and Enfj like me or Esfj. I highly recommend her folklore and evermore album. Especially songs like ‘this is me trying’ , ‘mirrorball’ , ‘Dorothea’ and ‘tis the damn season’.

my gosh, this is so on point!

This is such a very specific and clear understanding of Si and Fe! Thank you, Steven. I relate a lot to the Fe descriptions even as an incredibly shy and sensitive INFJ who has worked hard to get out of my own head and develop my Fe. I've butted up against many of those issues you describe for EXFjs in my difficult journey with developing my secondary extraverted function more. Others have felt that I give too much, that I was overbearing, bossy, telling them what to do, and being too critical, so I've had to learn to let go more, to let other people make mistakes and not feel a duty to save them from their own poor choices (LOL - you can hear the judgment I had there). And I've had to develop a greater sense of self and worth - that I have value simply because I exist - and that value isn't dependent on how responsible I am, how good I am, and is inherent regardless of how much I do for others. My life has often seemed to be focusing on and analyzing and consolidating data points I've perceived and then sharing my insights from all of that synthesis of knowledge with others. I love having these "super powers" of NI + Fe, but without others open to me to share it with or to help, coach, or inspire, it left me with a feeling of no where to share it and feeling unexpressed. What do I do with all my insights if no one wants to hear me or I'm too scared to be rejected for my real self? It's like all this mental potential with no outlet. I can't say I know the answer (yet), but the solution that has helped me the most so far as been to learn to contain myself better, to set limits fo rmyself and how much and with whom to give or share. It almost seems selfish sometimes, it's so counter to my natural instincts and preference to focus on others. But being more discerning (using my tertiary Ti better) about when and with whom to help or give to until people are directly asking for it or receptive or open to me, makes all the difference. Then I don't feel I'm too intense and burdening anyone. Then they truly appreciate me and what I have to contribute, and I don't feel dismissed, rejected, or worthless. Sometimes it's a waiting game, until someone is ready for my gifts and knowledge, but then when I can truly express myself, it's such a special, fulfilling, and meaningful exchange that can really catalyze things- for others and for me. I hope this is helpful to other INFJs and dominant Fe users out there!

Developing Fe isn’t what’s difficult for INFJ, however it would be difficult for an INFP. INFJ fully matures once they learn to develop their Ti in order to temper their overwhelming Fe. People think INFJ is like INFP when we are actually the most Thinky/ Logical Feeler type ;)

So basically the song is about how Taylor Swift experiences the Fe-Ne loop.

I loved this style of video and also love how understanding you are to all personality types, recognising everyone's value and strengths. Thanks to this channel and because of your attitude I've realised I'm probably not the INFP I always thought I was, and am probably an ISFJ instead (although am now starting to question ESFJ as well!) and I feel like instead of trying to convince myself I'm the 'creative, authentic type' that I have my own strengths, both because of my type and in spite of it. I've been watching your videos for over a year now, initially just wanting to learn a little more about MBTI but was NOT expecting it to have such an impact on my perception of myself. 😅 It's been a big year for me in terms of understanding myself and my place in the world, so just wanted to say thank you for allowing this channel to be a part of that. 😊💕

The Mirror scene hit me in heart💔 since a very young age i used to observe my self moving where the crowd go and i hated that and used to feel happily proud within self when i was the last person to know about something happened ( cause that made feel like I'm finally not moving with the crwod and a bit free) . When i used to look in the Mirror I had always felt quite lonely not able to know who i am and this idea was the most terrifying thing for me by time i kept asking my self alot of questions and observe my actions and it's consequences trying to figure out who i am and what i want in live . It was dark era of my growth journey and I'm lucky that i made it through alive and be able to recognize my self when i look in the mirror and it looks like an old friend of mine always with me but rarely remember to say Hi to him ❤

True, I don't like her music but people are generally say she's a good songwriter, and I assume they're right and I would say she writes what she wants to rather than consciously just trying to write a hit song.

When I heard this song in the Eras Tour movie I felt that it’s kind of contradicting that it’s an uppbeat, very popular song with so much komplex concepts about her mental state, which wasn’t healhty at all at this point. If I wrote a song like this at a similar point of my life, it would be more like the songs on Folklore (I’m an INFP). Dark, melancholic, but somewhat bittersweet, so something that would make you sob - and also, there would be repressed anger in them. She used a completely different technic; she managed to show off her darkest self. Basically, she wanted to show it off, make it appear in the spotlight. This and the happy undertone may shows that she doesn’t even take her struggles seriously, but it’s not the case based on the lyrics itself… I think it’s her most honest and dishonest song. This kind of duality makes it ironic

I'm not eric (obviously) but here is my opinion Chris: ESTP Matt: IXTP (not sure if hes Se-Ni or Ne-Si, but I lean towards Se-Ni because he doesnt seem to look at outward abstract possibilities and is a lot more straightforward and direct. So I'd say ISTP for now but INTP with with an Si>Ne preference is also high) Nick: ENFP with developed Te

This could just as easily be an INFJ song as well. However she is too Social to be an Introvert or INFJ. She’s clearly a Sensor because she has pretty terrible taste in Men. INFJ would be more careful about who they put time and energy into.

Well she’s using both Ne and Si in her loop which is clear in her songwriting process and balancing creativity and innovative ideas with structure and details and recollection of past experiences which means she can only be either: Esfj, estj, infp or intp. However there is no way she is an estj or infp . Which leaves either esfj or intp. But I’m leaning towards more esfj.

Also if u study the shadow functions, esfj shadow functions are Opposing role - Fi Critical parent - Se (she’s critical of the fact she isn’t aware of what’s happening around her and is stuck in the past) The trickster /the rebellious child function: Ni (ends up not listening to critical parent Se and overworking towards goals and visions but doesn’t know how to do it) Demon Te = trying to get affirmation that they are smart but they take it to great lengths and become domineering and dictatoring But these shadow functions don’t sound like Taylor at all.

Im my opinion, she's an ESFP. Even if I am wrong about her exact type, you are correct: she's a gamma quadra person. Fi, Te, Ni, Se are her dominant natural functions... It's very obvious if you're familiar with her. She's an extremely sociable person, very aware of her surroundings and sensorial experience. She makes decisions based on "what is the right thing to do? How to be a 'good person'?" She's moralistic, even self-righteous at times. That's all introverted feeling. She's driven, goal oriented, knows what she wants to do with her life, since she was a small child she knew what she wanted to become... So introverted intuition. Alpha quadra people are usually a lot less self-aware of their own feelings, at least when they're young.

The song also sounds like a narcissistic person in an external fuel crisis when their supply sources are rejecting or gone altogether ..

She is an ENFP, and it's proven by her next album TTPD that leads to sentimental poets like William Shakespeare who is an INFP. Taylor Swift is imaginative beyond basic perception, and this is the reason she struggles with her former lovers that probably has dominant Extraverted Sensation. This is evident when she lasted more than ten years in the industry by always innovating an era of genre and identity (a thing INFP is really good at doing, transmuting principle and value). She definitely does not fear stepping outside her comfort zone (dominant Ne). When she reached Lover album, you can tell how matured her auxiliary Fi has gotten as she campaigns for feminism and individualism through her lyrics. Her tertiary Te also have gotten improvement when she created two albums without even a single halt during the pandemics. Fearless and Speak Now album all notes down to daydreams, possibilities, risks, what-ifs, and even imaginations. (This denotes a high level of Ne) Red and 1989 album all notes down to "prioritizing herself and being aware of her own emotions" leading to emotional intelligence. (This is definitely Fi) Reputation is her tertiary Te springing to life when she is finally done with how people try to throw sticks and stone, hoping it'd break her bone. Lover is the full maturity of Introverted Feeling, where she becomes more vulnerable and faithful to her partner which resulted to a 6-year relationship. Folklore and Evermore are the renditions of Extraverted Intuition and Introverted Feeling that she has long mastered throughout her career. I mean Taylor Swift is definitely not an ESFJ. Her Fi is so strong. As well as her Te business focus. Anti-hero is a rare song of hers in that she shows self-doubt, she generally speaks to the hurtful things that have been done to her.

I repeat- she’s an INFJ. It becomes more and more apparent as she puts out more work and more revealing songs.

I have to disagree. She's more of an ISFJ. She constantly uses Si-Ti loop, not Fe-Ne.

She’s infp or intp she uses both Extroverted intuition and introverted sensing Fi Ne Si Te Or Ti Ne si fe

@@YourMom-iy6cv I see your point but Taylor doesn't use Fi, she rarely prioritizes her needs and has to learn it the hard way, so she can't be INFP. INTP struggles to understand and react to others' needs while Taylor excels in doing this, so she can't be INTP either. Plus INTP's fourth cognitive function is Si while Taylor uses Si constantly, just look at how she can recall specific details in the past immediately. That makes her either ISFJ or ESFJ, but she uses and gets stuck in Si-Ti way more than Fe-Ne loop, that's why I said she should be typed as ISFJ.

And she uses Ne in her loop constantly with her creativity and experimentation in her music that is her child function that she has recently developed and has been exploring cause u notice she always had a conventional approach up until now which she therefore is either estj or esfj but I would go for esfj cause he said lol
