Probably exactly why he hates it for daily life. He wants to be a person that can go out and about and live life. Anything making him more recognizeable makes it harder. Also, he's stated that his 2 boys think he's ridiculous when he's shorn like that. Their opinion matters supremely to him.

It's sad that more than half of the people call him Tommy instead of his real name, Cillian Murphy. This is the reason actors leave shows or movies where they have to play the character for a long duration because to the world he's just a character from the show but not the real him.

only trouble with youth these days is they have unreachable expectations, (well in the UK anyway). There's a terrible sense of entitlement which is beyond what can be delivered so they will always be upset & angry. Cillian is definately the best looking man I've ever seen, he never seems to age. He's a very lucky man.
