Baby girl, that time you spend in your car is your quiet time. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, be restricted to a certain amount of time, time of day or place. I love that you give yourself permission and grace to push against religious mindsets, routines, and checklists people can get caught up in. Keep loving the Father in your own way. He made you unique and appreciates every aspect of who you are. Relationship will look different for everyone and is for no one to judge. I love you. Keep shining 💛☀️

I completely understand your struggle with unrealistic expectations when it comes to our personal walks with the Lord and that everyone’s private and intimate moments with Him will look different, but I would caution you against the story you heard in that podcast. I’m sure that woman had good intentions telling that story, but God would never “confirm” anything that is contradictory or contrary to Scripture. He would never tell His child to stop praying, though He may work through fear and anxiety that one has in the midst of prayer. As you mentioned, we are commanded to pray without ceasing, and to pray intimately and privately with the Lord. I just encourage you to stay in the Word and approach the Throne of Grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16)! 💛

The best way I’ve found to be present and reset is putting my phone down. Often times ill notice I just carry my phone with me every where unconsciously. When I put it down I feel so much freedom and peace. I’m trying to incorporate this especially in the morning, to get ready and not touch my phone at all until I head out the door to leave

I wanted to share something regarding prayer. God would never speak something that contradicts His word. I would question if it was God in the first place. Paul tells us to “Pray without ceasing” I just don’t believe God would tell someone to stop praying. It’s one of the most powerful weapons against anxiety and fear. Prayer is a means of communication not just a religious ritual. Maybe God convicted that woman of how she viewed prayer or relied on the religious act vs communion with the Holy Spirit. But without context, this could be a really misleading message. Just sharing my heart because I’ve seen what fervent prayer does. It can change anything and everything. ❤️

I understand what she said when she said God told her to stop praying.. I also understand your point. There are times when we pray from a place of fear and anxiety and self condemnation, I have personally experienced these moments. Those prayers aren’t helpful at all, instead the drive you deeper into anxiety and fear. Now that I’m more aware of this, when I feel myself praying that way I stop, take a moment and then start thanking God for stuff (thanksgiving). That changes the atmosphere completely and even allows the Holy Spirit to come in, and I’m able to pray and be uplifted again. Before I figured this out I would just be defeated and go to bed feeling miserable or have a terrible day.. So looking at it from that perspective, I see how God would just tell someone to stop. So they could regroup, and so God would maybe even use the scriptures to teach them how to properly pray.

Thank you!!! I agree with you. For anxiety, Philippians 4. Also Matthew 6. We are also told to test every spirit. God does not change and does not contradict Himself so I would never trust someone saying "God told me to stop praying" as being from God.

To the comment about not feeling like you belong in Hawaii: My parents said the same thing when they came from Africa to America. But it's important to see every difference you and Kyle have to Hawaiian culture as an invitation to learn more, do more, and experience more. I won't lie to you and say it's easy, but the best things never are. Hawaii is a beautiful place as are the people.

Hi, Kian, when I was struggling with depression the most comforting thing was Gods Word and the knowledge that He does not contradict himself. There were times I would be so confused that I believe that satan would try to twist the meaning of God's word in my mind to make me believe it meant something that it didn't mean or say. I would twist the word is my mind to be self accusitory. However, scriptures would come to my mind that would contradict my misbelief. Like "God is not the author of confusion" or 'I am the way the truth and the life" or "God hath not given me the spirit of fear but of power, and of love and a sound mind." , and " and if we walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship one with another." And re-reading 1st John over and over again. Reading and reminding myself of what God truly said over and over again, helped me alot. And being honest before the Lord about my, doubt, unbeliefe, sadness and fear and asking him to entervein and rescue me through prayer, helped me a lot. The acknowledgement that I am this way right now but God will heal me in the future gave me so much hope. God is good, He will not forsake you. Let Him hold you.

I think our specific time with the lord looks different in every season and the pressure that Christian culture puts on qt can take something really beautiful and make it a place of shame and frustration - on the anxiety about prayer thing I’ve found that praying for others when I am feeling anxiety has helped me more than praying for the things I’m worried about. After a certain point you are just rehashing the same things and it spirals but making my prayers more outward focused has really blessed me back

For me, taking a small trip by myself to an area I've not been before, someone how really helps me to clear my mind, which allows me to connect back to the present. I feel like I'm able to process things easier and I'm able to have a clearer perspective on things. I feel like that kind of puts me in reset mode for staying more present when I get back to the usual routine. You also trust yourself more when you are doing things to take care of yourself, such as taking some time away, eating healthy, exercising, working towards goals, etc. - you trust yourself to take care of yourself. When you are in a place where you really trust yourself, reminding yourself to do things like "stay present" really feel like they have more weight, I think, because your mind knows there is importance behind what you are telling it because you've established self-trust with yourself. Hopefully that makes sense in the way I meant it to! Thanks for always being so honest! ♡

Hmm I think that lady who stopped praying for some time perhaps had fear/anxiety from the action of doing it rather than remembering why she was doing it in the first place? I do agree with others that fear/anxiety doesn’t come from the Lord, which is something you’ve also shared as well in other videos. Anyway, Kian, thanks for continuing to share with us your life and your relationship God. It’s so not easy to do that and to have others examine your life when we don’t have a full picture. I just wanted to say that as a fellow sister, you’ve encouraged me in my faith and unknowingly you keep me accountable thru your honesty. Thank you for sharing verses that pinpoint answers to situations that we make more complicated 😂. You and Kyle have been a blessing to me.

I’ve never heard someone talk about the anxiety that comes with prayer. I get anxiety when my husband leaves in the morning. And I’ve found when I start praying I start dwelling on it more and the fear kinda builds. But lately I’ve just tried to trust God and not make it a big deal. He is our protection whether we pray or not ❤️

Hi I hope this finds you well and that your spirit is open to receiving this. I feel it was my responsibility as a fellow Christian to put this out for anyone who may be confused. God does not contradict Hiself and if you ‘receive’ something that is contradictory to the word of God that is not God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” This is concerning to hear you speak of someone who is stating something in the Lords name directly in contradiction to God written word. We are called to fall humbly and open heartedly to the feet of the Lord. Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” With all my love for a follow sister in Christ, I pray your eyes be open to the word of the Lord.

I definitely agree with this, but I think I understand what the girl was trying to say. I thought for a long time that to pray effectively, I had to pray in the order of the Lord’s Prayer. This caused me to stop truly talking, chatting, and communing with God. I felt Jesus bring this up to me and the Holy Spirit called me to look up the word prayer in the Bible app. In Matthew 7: 7-11, Jesus states that effective prayer is asking the Lord for what you need. And as I stopped focusing on the order of prayer, my relationship with Jesus grew so much more and I learned that God will call me to pray for others, repent, forgive, etc. While there are time I feel I am called to pray in the traditional Lord’s Prayer, God truly delivered me from the perfectionism. Perfectionism, anxiety, etc, is used by the devil to hurt our relationship with God. God will sometimes bring us out of doing things a certain way that we were taught by religion was right so that we can have true relationship with him. While I don’t agree with the woman saying God told her to stop praying, I do sympathize with what she is going through and pray God shows her how he wants their relationship to grow.

I would agree with this. I've been praying about my major in college and felt like maybe God was saying to do zoology. Months later, I've recently applied to a really good college and it doesn't have zoology as an option but I will be doing environmental science. They sound similar I guess but they're completely different. I was tempted to not apply just because I thought maybe God wanted me to do zoology but looking back, the new good college popped out of nowhere, and the course is liberal arts and science which is what I'd be really good at. So yeah, I think I was wrong the first time, definitely wasn't God being contradictory

Honestly, I don't think that God was contradicting Himself when talking to Kian. Look at it this way: she mentioned scripture that says to pray constantly ("pray all the time" 1 Thessalonians 5:17) but she felt that quiet time was not for her. Kian thought that God maybe contradicted Himself by guiding her not to have quiet time. What He meant was maybe not for Kian to stop praying (quiet time is not the only way to pray) but to pray in a different way. Kian still prays but not in a form of quiet time. Afterall, prayer is a conversation with God. She doesn't do it through quiet time but throughout the say. The problem may be that we think that quiet time is the only way to pray which it's not. Hope this helps! God bless you all xx

I’m curious if you have a preset notion about what quiet time has to/should look like. I would strongly encourage you to continue reading your Bible, although maybe you can give yourself grace as to what that looks like specifically. (Maybe start by reading it for 10-15 minutes per day rather than 30. You also don’t have to start in a certain book.) Please understand that I say all of this lovingly. It is important to continue reading the Bible and helpful to know why we should. The Bible says that the word was written for our encouragement and instruction (Romans 15:4), which it sounds like you’re seeking. We’re also reminded that man does not live by bread alone but by the word of God (Matthew 4:4). Jesus used scripture to resist temptation and the Bible calls it out only offensive weapon against satan. Cry out to God if you must/want, but please, please don’t stop reading t he word. John 17:17, Colossians 3:16, etc.

To be absent from His word is to fall easily into sin. The Bible is alive and each time you read it, The Spirit reveals more. I’m praying for Kian as it seems she might be struggling with faith. I’m afraid it’s because of online people/worldly views.

I don't think she is saying she stopped reading the Bible... I think she is saying she is going through some healing with forcing herself to to a Quiet time specifically and Instead of forcing herself out of a spirit of religion she is taking a step back and letting the Holy Spirit lead...I'm not at all trying to right this to be mean, but also out of love cause it's really important to be careful about these kind of things cause a lot of time things like this cause a spirit of religion which in tune causes you not to live in the freedom Christ has given us... cause if you think about it before the Bible was written back in biblical times what did people do? The most important thing is being in community with Jesus and loving Him and the people around us, which looks different for people and different in each season. I hope you are understanding where I am coming from and I do agree reading the Bible is so important but sometimes it is also important to change the way you are doing things and not make it a routine and a chore.

She didn’t say she stopped reading the Bible, only that she stopped with the “standard” 30 min QTs in the morning. It sounds like she does QTs in her own way. She is striving for genuine relationship with God, which is something I think we all should do, and the thing is that it may look different for us all.

As to pressures to do things a certain way with the Lord....I agree, and am glad that you're finding your rhythm just between you and the Lord. I had fallen prey to a spirit of religion in the past. And it was bad! Only Jesus knows our hearts and He delights when we come to him to spend time with Him. But He would never force us to do something and come to Him in some ritualistic way. We make Jesus out to be so different than how He really is sometimes. He was happy and joyful, and I bet He was funny too and friendly and sweet. He is our best friend. Time with Him is every moment, because He is always with us. Time with Him can just be small little chats throughout the day, as we would with our very best friend. Love you guys! God bless!

On my journey with Christ I learned, however the Lord is leading you to spend time with Him, do so. I literally make time for God throughout my day from the time I wake up, to the time I get into my car and speak with Him on the way to work, in the shower, or doing laundry- I talk to Him like he is my friend and right there next to me no matter where that is. I once on my journey thought that I had to have a "concrete" or "rigid" way of spending time with God. I agree that maybe quiet time does not work well for you, and that it may work for someone else. There's not a one way fits all when it comes to building a relationship with God. He just wants our fellowship with him!

Wait, do you read the Bible? I'll just put this out there, just to put this out there but God doesn't contradict his word. If you don't want the pressure of a routine, than by all means. He is out father, be organic and switch it up. However, he isn't going to say not to pray. That's not right at all, even if you are crying the whole time. Why would he encourage you not to speak to him regardless of what spirit it is when while we were sinners he loved us.... Just food for thought.. but I pray that you feel better and maybe take some time off.

I am going through a similar season as you and I just wanted to encourage you. God is close to you. Our relationship with God will never be perfect and just like marriage there are seasons of Highs and Lows. God didn't give you a spirit of religion but a spirit of freedom. Our world is full of noise and causes so much confusion. Turn off the noise and be in the presence of Jesus and abide in Him... that will look different for you than it does for others and that is okay and every day looks different too. God is patient and His grace is sufficient for you.... And as far as being present. what I do to be present is to sit in the moment and use all my five senses... what am I hearing, what does this moment smell like, what am I touching, am I tasting anything in the moment, and most importantly what do I see (and go into detail)... I've found that those memories also stick in my mind way better too

hi sweet kian ♡ oh i am so so sorry how toxic our world can be && the toxic expectations that come from “ christian’s “ , please please note that they are not from God && that God still wants you to intentionally seek Him out daily! i would encourage you to start to create a quiet time with Him that doesn’t revolve around what the world says you need to do but what He wants from you && in what ways He wants to hear from you. quiet time with Him is so ESSENTIAL to our relationship with Him && i just hope that you can continue to spend intimacy with our creator! He. loves. you. so. so. so. much. even just start 5 - 10 minutes in the morning with Him lots of l ♡ v e your sister in Christ < belle ✨🤍 ⚡️🌊

I understand you’re getting a lot of Christian’s talking about your take on quiet time. I also understand it’s probably not what you want to here and I completely get it. I’m sure you’re in a different season in your faith than some of us so take this with prayer and a truly loving nature. Jesus tells us in Luke 9:23 “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Again Galatians 5:24 “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” We are called to deny our desires, deny ourselves and follow Christ. Our home is not here on earth, but with our Lord in Heaven. The times we are in today are some of the most important times for Christians. We need to be strong and take up the armor of God. Grow strong in our faith through His word. Kian, you are not alone in what you are going through, I’ve been there and I’ve fallen away only to be brought back to Christ. This life is not important, we are here merely to be a light in the dark. To serve God and share the gospel with as many souls as we can. The devil is a strong deceiver and he’ll do all he can to take as many souls down with him as he can. I’m praying for you always 🤍🤍

For my church, we have a corporate morning revival to help everyone have the day start off with God. It really helps bc you don't feel like you have this demanding burden to be super spiritual. I'd anyone wants the link, lmk!

God bless you! If you think you are the face of your youtube and the whole inverted pyramid..i will warn you of opening up a coffee shop. That will require most of your time. I think people think opening up a cafe or coffee shop is cute until they see the amount of time and money spend and you do not get the same rewards and benefits in return. Just thought i would help you out. It is extremely demanding and when your employees cant show up...guess what you are the face of your coffee shop. Just some seasoned advice:)

Dear Kian, if you ever read this, remember that in our hearts there is a throne and a cross. If your eyes are on other Christians and what they’re doing, then your walk with Christ will be filled with confusion, and you will be living up and down; up when they do something that is “good” according to your own understanding of what is good in God’s eyes and down when you feel like everyone is just following the same path and nothing is genuine anymore. Ask God to search your heart and see who’s sitting on the throne of your heart and who is on the cross. If the Christian community is sitting on the throne, then you’re putting Jesus on the cross. Allow Him to reign in your life and put on that cross all judgement, all expectations, all fear, and allow yourself to enjoy this moment here and now. If quiet time is boring or overwhelming, then worship, dance, sing, and just rejoice and Him! Do on earth as it is in heaven. You were not made to live up and down; you were made to live in and out; in, what Jesus is and out what He has spoken over your life. Praying for you today! ❤️

Spirit not letter. Jesus doesn't want anything from you he wants you! The law and religion tells us to do this and that to earn His love, but the mystery of the kingdom is to be still and not strive and paradoxically from that place we meet the Spirit and the beauty of Jesus and a burning desire to know his word more.

Girl. Word of advice. You’re focusing too much on yourself. So make more videos about God only. Do Bible studies. Talk less about your personal life. Do revelations about Christ without going too in depth about your own struggles. I’d just say create more content revolving around theology. If your heart can take the questions and misunderstandings. Idk something to think about….and I only say that because you seem like you don’t wanna do the personal thing anymore

You don’t belong. Because to belong in this world is to belong to the enemy: you belong to God and belong in heaven. So us being ALONE while not BELONGING. Might be right by God and right where we need to be
