It also makes sense for Ryuji & Yusuke to not be bothered by the prospect of "showing off" their Personas because both of them are incredibly honest and straightforward people, while Akechi was more treacherous and deceitful, so it wouldn't be something Akechi was too keen on showing off to the general public.

@@gamester512 It's more of for Ryuji he would be showing of how awesome and cool he is, for Yusuke he would be letting people see his heart which i think artists sometimes want to convey through their art, what their heart sees and feels when whatever was their muse to paint or draw or create their art was seen.

Honestly, he's sort of secretive and deceitful so showing a part of your heart to the world would bother him. And I would be uncomfortable as well..

I remember reading that they purposefully wrote Haru and Futaba to interact less with Akechi in the third semester, because they just couldn't forgive him even a small amount. I guess you can see that here, seeing as neither of them reacts to his Personas.

I really like how Ryuji really tries to be friendly to Akechi, despite clearly feeling uncomfortable.

I really like the conversation between Yusuke, Ryuji, and Akechi about people seeing your Persona. I imagine having other people see a manifestation of your inner self could be really embarrassing. Especially for someone like Akechi, who has such a nasty dark side. I think it speaks to how comfortable Ryuji and Yusuke are with themselves that find the idea of showing people their Personas to be cool.

It's more about trauma response. Remember; Akechi's abuse was at the hands of society itself; the justice system, the attitudes of children out of wedlock Japan still has, the foster care system... a Persona is a manifestation of yourself, very raw and unfiltered. All his life Akechi was basically punished for existing. He wouldn't be eager to, once again, show something honest about himself aka his Persona, and be punished for it. His reaction it the trauma response. Ryuji and Yusuke do not have that kind of trauma. Their trauma is with specific people, not the very society they live in. So to them it's not a big deal.

Tbh, Loki's zebra pattern is an interresting choice, if you think about it Zebras use their highly contrasting stripes to confuse their predators, to make them unable to tell which is what So, in a way, it represents the way Akechi distract others from his true feeling with his perfect prince persona (aka Robin Hood) Loki is litterally making itself hard to look at and identify, compared to Robin Hood

Thus I was surprised that in Royal, Akechi & Loki are still Justice. Though in P1 & P2, the Persona Users were able to switch Personas yet they aren’t Fool but weren’t called Wild Cards though so I was unsure. But then it was pointed out the genius about Akechi’s personality...That he initially is not Justice...BUT actually THE REVERSE Justice Arcana. It was only then in his self sacrifice in The Original and during his alliance with Joker & the other Phantoms that he started to act as a non-reverse and True Justice Arcana🤔 Edit: Thank You for the Likes & the Comments. I thought it would be an interesting topic to talk about😊

Regarding your statement about P1 and P2, I simply believe Atlus doesn't care that much. They are good at writing characters and maybe individual title plots. But tying them together is another story. I believe it was said before that every persona game takes place in the same universe, but due to how every title has kind of a theme and the way personas and realities work in each one, it just wouldn't make sense that they are all in the same universe, which is unfortunate. I'd love to have the persona universe better explored and tied in a way that would make sense and not just for fan service purposes. (I prefer to ignore the existence of Persona Q and such completely).

@@thomasfairburn5254 for Aigis, her Wild Card is a special case since she awakened it some time after her partner's death, losing Athena and replaced by Orpheus. Even her Arcana had changed from Chariot to the Fool due to the change of her mental state, still the same in Arena. Though kind of agree on the part that the Wild Cards power initially came from the antagonists, however, Igor and the attendants ensure that they won't stray off to the path of destruction. This duty still remain post main campaign, seen in Arena and Scramble.

It literally has hooves referencing Loki's mare transformation leading to the birth of Sleipnir. People calling it a zebra is NOWHERE near beyond the stretch of the imagination.

I think Akechi probably *can* capture Personas, but it's more in his nature to kill off any enemy that crosses him - which is why the only two Personas he wields are ones he manifested himself. It's not that he can't, it's probably more than he never tried or cared.

What Igor does is grant the tools necessary to perform the action. The ability to perform it lies within. So Akechi likely has the ability. But he wasn't chosen to be the next visitor to the Velvet Room. So that potential remains unfulfilled. With him utilizing it in ways that require more effort from him. A sort of reverse echo of Joker.

Wht does everyone insist he needs the velvet room. Thats only to fuse, sacrifice, and pull from the compendium. You obviously make the deals with shadows outside of the room. So yeah he could capture a shaow for his persona, but they're all too weak compared to his so its not necessary. He can just train his up since he's been at it for years now.

Think it is better to say just as the Personas are aspects of the person who is invoking them that the person invoking them are merely tapping into aspects of the Persona. For Akechi he is the Justice side of Loki. The being who brought punishmemt on the Aesir for their multitude of sins. Not to say Loki was righteous but that his actions served the greater good by bringing the gods to justice and begining the age of men. Is that not what Akechi always sought to do?

The way I see it, Akechi resembles Light AND Darkness. When the two elements work in tandem, it results one of two outcomes: Chaos and Order Akechi fell to chaos first, wishing to get revenge on Shido...then eventually not caring for anybody who got in his way. Akechi’s true form shows how his inner darkness had taken over...but Loki has the appearance of light and darkness, existing in tandem but neither having precedence over the other But eventually, Akechi found order via justice. When that happened, he awakened to Robin Hood. Robin Hood contains light and darkness, but it’s appearance only shows the light...kind of like Akechi’s false form. It was light containing darkness, instead of constantly curdling each other in tandem

That's always how I've personally seen his character and what made him interesting. I personally think Robin Hood might have been his initial Persona, representing the part of him that wanted to be a "hero of justice", but from the coloration you can see Akechi's version of a hero was...lacking. Not to mention it was rather showy for a hero who's usually shown as operating from the shadows. The desire for heroism was real, but it wasn't all that was in his heart. There was darkness, and that darkness is Loki, but Loki isn't all bad a shown by the white in it. Depending on the myth, there's some versions where Ragnarok is less of a tragedy and more a result of all of the sins of the Norse Gods biting them in the ass (namely Loki's imprisoned children getting their revenge). In that way, Akechi was going to use all of the sins of his "employers" to crush them and make them pay for what they'd done. Interestingly, while he worked for the Conspiracy, he was never truly a supporter of it (not truly evil), just like with the Phantom Thieves (not truly good) putting him on the edge, just like Loki was between the Aesir and the giants. It's a paradox, which sums up his existence quite well, but it also speaks as to why Akechi feels a sense of anger.

Agreed. But I personally think Robbin Hood was first. Just imagine a 15 year old Akechi, stumbling into a Palace or Metaverse, scared af because wtf is this, almost dying, not wanting to die because he wants justice for his mother... and Robin Hood comes. But as soon as Shido comes around and tricks him into killing, Loki comes about as justice becomes vengeance.

I remember seeing a line about how Akechi got one Persona for his lies and one for his hate... I don't know, I guess this isn't necessarily wrong, but I always saw it a little differently: One for the person he wanted to become (A hero, someone everyone loves) and one for the person he did become (Hateful and spiteful, especially where Shido is involved but not really able to connect with anyone)

That makes a lot of sense. I'm not 100% sure if this is true but I read somewhere that in Persona Q2 (the game where he can't use Loki) he doesn't really want to go back to being the traitor and maybe that's partly because during that game he became the hero he wanted to be.

I personally believe that Robin Hood is Loki in another form. While Persona likes to use the word “trickster” in reference to The Fool, I feel like with respect to Loki, it can be seen in the literal aspect. Shapeshifting into a new exterior to fool The Fool.

Yusuke: I’m glad you can’t summon Hundreds of different personas like Joker. Akechi: Who says I can’t I really wish Akechi could switch between Robin Hood and Loki but that would make hereward really bad if they had different movesets unless the skills were on one persona but Robin Hood did the physical, Bless (if he kept them) and support skills and Loki did the Gun, Curse and almighty skills it would look really cool and be an interesting trait

I see a lot of people suggest this but it doesn’t make sense to me. From a story perspective, Robin Hood is representation of Akechi’s detective prince persona. A version of himself that he uses to deceive the media and the Phantom Thieves. Loki, on the other hand, is his true unfiltered self born from years of strife and hatred of the adults who wronged him. Now that he has nothing to hide anymore, it wouldn’t make sense for him to regress back to using Robin Hood. Besides, Loki is also much stronger lore wise. Gameplay wise, Him using both Personas would be redundant because Robin Hood and Loki have the same skills and trait other than bless and insta-kills.

Ann, while you aren’t wrong on the zebra comment, the reason why is cause he’s covered in dazzle camouflage. A type of style mostly used on boats. It creates an optical illusion and you can’t tell if it’s coming towards you or going away from you, making it difficult to take up proper aim. And zebra’s patterns do the same thing.

Lol, love how they are calling Goro 'two-faced' but then their leader can summon so many more Persona... what does that make him? Honestly...

They're looking like it's a bad thing because it's a result of Akechi literally having two sides and not being honest with himself. Since Akechi hiding his true person is what made him turn evil, it isn't really unjustified. Joker has many Personas because he's the opppsite, he's honest and can make bonds with everyone. It's not comparable to Joker and not hard to understand.

Thinking about it,within the context of Akechi,the song playing could apply to him,especially when someone said burn my dread,Akechi not being afraid to be dead in actual reality,and willing to sacrifice himself on shido’s palace

The zebra aesthetic is allegedly inspired by a certain type of camouflage that big military ships used so that they would confuse opponents about their size.

Welp, without Morgana he wouldn't know how ELSE to get rid of Palace owners beside killing them. Dude is an asshole for killing so many people (and get turned on from it oops) but if he had known how to control one's heart without killing from the start he'd have chosen it without modifying himself through 2 and a half year into.... It's a bit unconfortable to see Akechi being polite, but at the same time, rude (4:26). It's like a fusion with his "fake" and "true" selfs. I feel like I have a labrador in front of me that he is calm, but I have heard that before, he has savagely attacked other people, and I think that at any moment he will goes for my throat. 😟

No, we are seeing his true self. Too well bred to be vulgar but too self-important to not try and assert dominance. Basically he is being polite while making his true opinion known. Which is he is better than most everyone. But he is above displaying his superiority in some crude manner.

@@acat63 The whole point of personas is the willingness to show the world your true self. So if you have one you shouldn't have a problem with the world seeing it. This isn't about common sense, Akechi is the odd one out.

But the difference between being a two faced liar and Joker is Arsene is Joker's true self. Any other Persona he uses is just for the sake of power. He's not changing who he is

I dont know, I may be biased, but Ryuji with Akechi vs Ryuji with other people excluding Akechi, it shows how he interacts and sees Akechi? It's not all the time, but whenever he's talking with Akechi, he doesn't really hold any serious conversation, whereas when he's talking about Akechi with other people, he talks about how his backstory must have been like, in a way, he kind of feels slightly sad that he had to go thru shit. Idk maybe thats just me

Akechi seems to be a wild card in the same way that the characters from Persona 1 and 2 are. I don't know why people are overthinking this. He's probably limited in the number of personas that he can use by the nature of his arcana: he doesn't represent the fool or any of its equivalents, he represents judgement. He shouldn't be able to use as many personas as joker, but he's still compatible with everything from judgement, the fool and he probably has a few secondary arcanas as well.

Well, nobody in P4 fought their OWN Shadow. They confronted their shadows, but the closest we got was Kanji punching his shadow in the face.

Futaba and Haru were specifically written to have fewer interactions with him because they can't really forgive him for what he did.

One thing I noticed about Robin Hood is every persona has a unique look and aesthetic, however Robin Hood looks VERY generic. He has nothing special looking about his appearance, just generic superhero attire with RH on the chest. Even it's name sounds uninspired. It even looks...fake looking (obvious foreshadowing that Robin Hood is not Akechis real persona).

Futaba is shows to be more willing to wipe the slate clean in the game. She literally talks about "restarting the game" and "starting over". Probably because she also lost her mom, was blamed for it (like Akechi was by society since he's a bastard) and doing questionable things (remember; Futaba is a hacker. She CREATED Medjed. As while she left when people started using the moniker for evil or selfish gains, she still MADE the moniker and organization originally. She had a hand in allowing those people the means to do evil which she never intended).

I always thought that Robin Hood wasn’t actually a Persona, but rather a cognitive Persona Akechi made to mask his identity, meaning that Loki was the original Persona, and that Akechi isn’t a wild card, he’s just smart.

IIRC it was stated that Akechi is a wildcard (the one chosen for Yaldy's side while Joker was Igor's side of the debate) though I'm not sure if it carried into Royal's lines. Robin Hood represents Akechi's Detective Prince mask while Loki represents the seeker of revenge Black Mask mask. Like it was said, Akechi is two-faced.

Nope. All first awakenings.

So Personas are the manifestations of your will, of your rebellion. Akechi had to undergo a psychotic breakdown to change his Persona. So, excluding trauma, you can't trick yourself into believing in something completely different. So how does Joker have that ability? I know he's the wildcard, but that doesn't necessarily answer the question. Is he the king of multiple personalities?

@@TelikiMouse You don't have to be a fool to be a wildcard, a fool just means you have an infinite amount of personas to use, thus the 'empty but filled with infinite potential deal' in akechi's case, he was given the power of the wildcard by yaldy, but can't use his full potential because he has no bonds with anyone, he original had loki but then had a bond with joker, which created robin hood, so akechi could essentially switch between robin hood or loki but instead (spoiler) fused them into hereward

ik this is messed up but it would have been hilarious if haru futaba and akechi all had an interaction around loki where haru and futaba silently glare at akechi

I always had an odd theory being that more robin hood or Loki he uses is what personality traits he shows more.So if he used loki straight 3 days he be more irradiated and cruel to others around him but if he used robin hood 3 days in row he be more calm collected and smooth.

Yeah he isn't a Wild Card. Akechi even says Robinhood is part of his ACT and when you fight black mask Akechi he says "let me show you who I really am" Robinhood is the act, Loki is his true self

Thor is a normal Persona here, who can be fused together from other Personas or just successfully negotiate with him and he joins you. No further interaction with Loki (or Odin who is another normal Persona here too).

This game tried a little too hard to make me like Akechi. He would be my favorite character ever if he wasn't a murderer. I think the game sometimes forgets that detail while trying to make Akechi as gold as he was in the new arc.

Still Is Akechi really is a wild card ? Loki is the same as other except its a second personality. And its not summoned as a wild. There's also no hint in Persona Q2 when he meet all of Velvet attendants

It could be because loki and Robin are both in the justice arcana. And thus maybe akechi can only weird justice personas the twins cant detect that. Or maybe the fool arcana is the one one that can allow multiple switches to any arcana. If that makes sense.

At this point it's impossible to say definitively. Loki and Robin Hood might just represent the "duality of man" and Akechi's internal contradictions, but Hereward is him reaching equilibrium. That said, Futaba thinks that Akechi has the same power Joker does, but because Akechi couldn't connect with anyone the way Joker could, he was incapable of taking in multiple Personas and was stuck with the two he manifested from himself (thus him only having Justice Arcana Personas, though it probably isn't a coincidence that Loki is usually the Fool Arcana - this may be an indication that something's gone wrong with the Wild Card process). And he certainly didn't have access to the Velvet Room, any Metaverse guides OR the ability to hold-up and bully Personas into joining him all on his lonesome. So really, we'll just have to wait and see what Atlus has to say going forward, because it could go either way.

as far as i see it, akechi is a wildcard, but due to only having a strong bond with joker, he only has two personas, if he were to make bonds with others he could easily be the strongest persona user in p5

Yes exactly. I think Loki is meant to be the Fool Arcana. Because Loki is a trickster god himself which suits the Arcana. Keep in mind, that the PT themselves say they even had trouble fighting him together. It took the whole team to beat him meaning he literally is the strongest if compared to every single one if them.

@@infernape2010 By the point of the rank 8 confidant, the plan to set up the phantom thieves had alaready been set in motion. Killing Joker at that point wouldn't have been a detriment to that plan.
