The P2 duology is honestly really unique. I loved the concept of rumors coming to life and traversing dungeons in a modern setting. This honestly blew my mind as a kid. Plus the music and cool characters.

According to legends, a “doppelgänger” is an evil apparition. If you see yours, you will die soon. The poem that appears in this opening is “Der Doppelgänger” by Heinrich Heine. I haven’t played Persona 2: Innocent Sin yet, but from what I’ve seen, Maya quotes the poem in-game. She says it reminds her of how similar Tatsuya, the protagonist, and Joker, a villain, are to each other. They both seem to carry around a pain from their past.

So I had to improve this aspect, and I don’t regret at all, English speaking/understanding broads mind and changes the person and his future. I remember definitely that during a whole summer, I’ve learnt 2k new words from persona 2 on my old psp. And then +1k during the autumn.

@@kett912 From what I know they're pretty similar to one another. Main difference is that Eternal Punishment takes place after Innocent Sin, but I guess thanks to the plot you can really start off from EP within getting confused about IS.

@@kett912 The interface is the same with some QOL improvements for EP (which they rolled back into the IS remake) but EP is MUCH harder. IS might be the easier Megaten I've played and EP is definitely the hardest.

The P2 Duology is definitely my favorite part of the series. The way that the main characters bond, going into the Velvet Room with your party members and hearing them share their thoughts, the way the plot escalates exponentially, all the painful and bittersweet moments in the end. It's absolutely the most beautiful narrative in the series.

Gonna be honest, I LOVE this intro, i think the shift between the slower piano and the more fast-paced actual song is really well done, I think I prefer this over unbreakable tie ngl

In my opinion Persona 2 (IS and EP) is the best Persona game, great history, characters (by the way Tatsuya best protagonist) and even the music. I love this game!

I get that the subjects im the story are touchy but they can just sensor the Hitler parts if they really need to like they did in the psp remaster.

a modern system port of Persona 2 IS & EP with the PSP content intact is all we need. Maybe an explanation on some stats but otherwise this is fine.

I got so excited when I saw Persona 2. ;-; But really, both Persona 2 games and BOTH iterations of each had incredible openings. Haunting and also heart-pounding.

Since this was made before Persona went insanely mainstream, imagine how much more coverage it could get if it came back remade?

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment was amazing, made such an impact on me. I dare to say it's my number 1 Persona. Please Atlus make a remake obviously with some life quality improvement and easy mode. All Persona fans from P3 to P5 don't know what they are missing out on. Story and art are amazing.

I like all of them only because they explore different avenues of the human psyche or rather different routes to acceptance of ones self through our flawed selves and kind of nice reliving my younger days.

Probably my favorite mainline game narrative and character-wise I will say I do prefer the PSP intro because the visual imagery makes a bit more thematic sense and does a better job of actually representing the game's story and setting expectations

I played for like 10 hours but it felt like characters barely question what the hell is going on and they figure specific things so randomly, I think the game needs some changes In how they deliver stuff in conversations. It didn't feel natural, like an AI dungeon generated text

I loved the acid trip that was the PSP intro, it was just fun. Plus I loved the shot when everyone turns around towards Michel with the masks on, shit was creepy as fuck. This one's really good at setting up an eerie athmosphere. Kinda gives me trinity soul vibes, can't quite put my finger on why, though :)

i've only ever played the psp version, so this is my first time seeing the playstation op. very goosebumps inducing. but persona 2 thoooooooooooo. what a damn game. what an experience. no matter what kind of reservations i had about the gameplay before playing it, the storyline more than made up for it. to this day, still one of the most memorable games i have played, alongside strange journey (ds). recommend it to anyone AND everyone

I definitely had doubts of even getting past the first part of the game bc tbh yea it has a pretty dated interface & mechanics BUT with how riveting the plot was + the atmosphere/setting i was just full-on hooked, didn't take notice of the gameplay after that. P3 was my first entry into the series, and I tried P4 after that but I couldn't bring myself to finish it (bc i was young and did not like seeing the new non-p3 cast lol). I decided to give P2 a try after much insistance from a friend, and boy was I not prepared. It felt like I was playing a completely separate installment, and altho I do appreciate P3 it just does not hold a candle to P2's brilliance in terms of characters and storyline. P2 EP was a fun sequel too (imo). If not for P2, I wouldn't have played SMTIV and just recently, SMTIVA. Looking to play P1 probably next and if possible, the earlier installments of SMT. What a fun ooky ride 😳

ah yes, back when the "Persona" concept makes sense, it is about people wearing masks defending on what situation they are in, you wear masks everytime you talk to people, socialize and how you deal with your everyday lives, something which the new Persona games lack, no one is special, everyone is the same, everyone has a demon inside they have to deal with and that is what makes the older titles so special. Persona 2, IS and EP are my most favorite of the persona series, Innocent Sin, as the name suggests, committing a sin because of innocence and Eternal Punishment is the punishment for that sin and for it's atonement, P2EP especially having a more mature character roster contrary to all Persona games having characters on their teens at most, P2EP have more serious tones and more mature themes which is what I love about that game.

Never got to play the early games..but I hoping with what you said OP, they are willing to draw back to similar concepts for P6. I'd love a super mature darker Persona for the next title.

Love this game. My favorite story in the series. I remember being hooked on the translated version back in the day but the PSP remaster was even better in some ways. Can't go wrong with Persona!

This opening is so chilling, just like Der Doppelgänger. I think that the Persona 2 Duology are the best in the series, for sure! Great characters and a compelling story!

The Persona 2 games remain my favorite Persona titles to this day. I wish that Atlus was able to reclaim some of the human beauty and weirdness that defined them and blend it with the stylish elegance of modern Persona.

Man, P2 was a wild ride as a kid. I was too young to understand the complex narrative, so playing the remake in the PSP when I got older was such an adventure. I wish they did the same treatment for P2 Eternal Punishment (to localized PSP remake, I mean), but hopefully, we do get a modern adaptation.

You move your body to walk 180 degrees around a circle and spin yourself in place 180 degrees. It finally occurred to me that that is what they were trying to draw.

Remake please. Thank you.

The Doppelganger opening gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it, it's just so haunting and sad.

Cuz, at least in Germany, that shild would upset quite some people :P

Damn it Atlus. You can't just throw Persona 2 into my feed and it's just an upload of an old trailer. My heart skipped a beat there. Pain in the ass to even play the first two games legit these days, at least port them or something.

Favorite opening in the series to this day

P2 Tsumi was epic in so many ways. I love it so much!!

I actually almost had a heart attack, when I saw the notification, lol. I am currently working my way backwards through this series (naturally). Almost done with Persona 3. Very soon, I will play this as well. I keep hearing that the story of this game is really, really good, which makes me excited, as a storywriter myself. Persona 4 is my favorite of the series so far, but we'll see if that changes once I finish this game

It will probably take me another couple months to finish Persona 3, just due to how much time I have between school work, other games I want to play, and attempting to have a life, lol holding off might be a good idea. Although I wouldn't;t be too upset if I got the originals games soon, and then a remaster/remake was announced. But that is something to hopefully look forward to!

Something about the ps1 persona games is just so haunting and bleak. Maybe it's because they're very much following the tone of mainline SMT in a more modern, relatable setting... Or maybe nyarlathotep is just a fucking _terrifying_ antagonist.

If you are coming in from 3-5 the tone of the first 2 games are so different it does not feel like it came from the same franchise (of course because the early instalments are following the smt feel since its a spinoff of it), but I find it fascinating how much the series has evolved to what we see it as today.

I'm still sad about what the PSP version did to the damage formula. I did a low-level challenge of it on "Hard" difficulty and the end-game bosses still couldn't do more than double-digit damage.

The game that had really and truly shook up my heart and gave me a new perspective to life. I really hope for a PC re-release

They might as well do a remake featuring all past persona games.

as if they didn't see how Persona 4 golden and Persona 5 Strikers do on PC they know what their doing things take time.

Ports or remakes for modern consoles+switch Anything for these gems to be brought back While you're at that do the same thing but for the whole Megaten franchise
