Totally beautiful! These modern Iranian carpets are truly work of art, but the best are from before '20s. We have two. Next one will be only for one from 3rd quarter 19th century, most likely city rug and from Tabriz - waiting for the right one. Respect for the weavers. Very good coverage of many weaving regions by a 4th gen dealer as he told. Nomadic and tribal rugs may have inconsistencies & mistakes, but should be considered folk art. Other interesting handmade rugs are from Turkey, Pakistan and India considering their price diffs, IMO.

*_the Zoroastrian carpet at the end was sublime and definitely worth more than $14000_*

I totally agree with you!
To compare Persian carpets (the inventors of the rug) to turkish (or any other country) carpets is like comparing Patek Philippe watches to Casio watches!! No comparison!! If you can't buy the real thing then go for knockoff turkish/pakistani/chinese, etc....rugs.

@@seroo9119 First of all Arabs don't have any good rugs. With respect to Turkey, why buy in Turkey where good carpets are limited when you can buy it in Iran where every province had its own traditions and patterns.

I have a $14,000 keshan Iranian Persian rug. Needs fringe repair we’re can I get that done?
what is the name of the store?
I made a couple of inches of carpet next to a lady like this, she was very strict, she tapped my hand if I got it wrong and then she 'fussed' over my work til it was right. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was a tourist visit to her studio, she was used to teaching, but very strict because it was a real carpet we worked on.
excellent video...very informative.
Gorgeous absolutely gorgeous
if it's not repeating pattern, means it's probably not machine made and not using silk would also be a waste. with high knot count it's a must.
Holy Cow! How much would the silk carpet which took 4 years to weave 144 knots per square cm cost??

Some carpets even take decades to complete
Last year i went to Mumbai and New Delphi and found some beautiful rugs. the ones i liked started at $14k but then came down to $2700. Which was still too much for what i was looking for. i was looking for a dinning room rug.

Stay away from Indian or Pakistani carpets. They copy, cheat and don't have the tradition Iran has. The chances of getting sold a fake rug in Iran are slim.

So were you suspicious that these weren't authentic or what? They had the patterns on the back, so that's one good sign of authenticity. I'd have to check it out in person to confirm more though. Btw, do you know where to buy some? Where was this?

Forget about PICASSO, DALI and so on crab. PERSIAN RUGS are ART. Each mi$$ions of worth.
Hands blessed by God.
Weavers of these carpets are the ones, who suffer the most. To weave a better quality carpet, you need a weaver who has small fingers which can easily go through the perpendicular yarn were the knots are being put.

Love the rugs but boy, that shakey camera work is hard on the eyes. The shaking, the scratching, the crackling...horrible.
Shouldn't generalize but you have to watch out when buying Persian carpets cuz carpet dealers are like sharks and try to shaft you big-time. I tried my luck once visiting Turkey and another time Singapore and thought I managed to get a great deal after a long and exhausting haggling process only to find out latter that been shafted big time both in Turkey and Singapore. I think if you pay anything more than 40% of their asking price then you probably been shafted too LOL
