    I have a daihatsu sirion m100 1999 model and I could not find a single other video that showed the placement of the ignition coils and spark plugs ( I am a complete automotive noob) thanks to your video I feel confident that I will be able to make this repair myself. Thank you so much!

    @@spidiq8 thanks for the reply 😊 I have discovered that the engine is actually a EJ-VE , and that it was also used in a daihatsu charade 1.0 2003 I believe 😊 hopefully this is useful to you and anyone else 😊

    Chong June Kai Glad you found the video helpful, sadly I can't because being my own vehicle I can only film whatever I might happen to do on it at any one time and won't perform a job that's not needed as I have neither the spare time or resources to buy the items. The rocker gasket is typically quite a straightforward replacement however, unbolt the bolts, remove the old gasket and clean the gasket face if need be them replace the new one with a smear of grease or oil to help it sit properly then re fasten the bolts.

    My friend. What size is the socket for the spark plug. Thank you

  • @spidiq8

    @spidiq8

    5 жыл бұрын

    It's a 5/8" spark plug socket you need. This is thinner than the standard toolkit type. Common on many motorbikes and the plug spanners can be gotten cheaply from auto suppliers.

    is it safe to assume, 4 cylinder engines have 4 spark plugs?

  • @spidiq8

    @spidiq8

    7 жыл бұрын

    epique wenqa aka epik Yes it is. There's always at least one per cylinder. Some rare engines have 2 per cylinder.

    alright awesome, thanks for the response. one more question. when you install four spark plugs, do all of them burn together, therefore when one needs to be changed, all need to be changed?

  • @spidiq8

    @spidiq8

    7 жыл бұрын

    epique wenqa aka epik They don't ignite together as in, 'at the same time' but they all ignite an equal amount. Every time a piston rises on its compression stroke the plug fires burning your fuel and air mixture. When you need to change the plus you need to change them all at the same time. Your vehicle manual will tell you the change intervals but 6000 miles is not uncommon today, remove clean (wire brush) and regap at 3000 miles to help.

    Why did u put greasa sir? Is it neccessary?

  • @spidiq8

    @spidiq8

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes and no. Not using grease won't cause a problem with the car starting or running, but the copper grease is an anti seize measure to prevent galvanic corrision between the aluminium head and the steel spark plugs, as they now have a much longer life and can be in a car for 12,000 miles or more that risk increases so a little grease on the threads ensures they come out easily when you need to change them.

    Brandon Adrina Almost eveything is fixable, the question is, is it economically viable? first thing you need to establish is where the leak is coming from and how much it's leaking. Unfortunately with an engine caked in oil it's hard to tell so if possible get your engine bay steam cleaned first then get a torch and have a really good look roud and underneath while the engine is running, if it helps, get a friend to work the throttle to increase oil pressure while you look. Sorry I can't be more specific but it's simply impossible to say as there are so many places in an engine bay that a leak can come from and because it's under pressure it can even spray up from a low point then drip down ver the engine and bay.

  • @spidiq8

    If your spark plugs are getting oiled then oil is getting into your combustion chamber either via the piston rings or the valve stem seals in the cylinder head. First thing to do would be a compression test to try and figure out where.
