To think this song is about Spencer's sister that died makes me feel so emotionally connected to this song. His sister, from what Spencer said in an interview, is the one who introduced him to heavy music. To think that without her introducing him to the scene, Spencer wouldn't be here 🤷♀️People can say "His voice is_____" etc, but at the end of the day this band has been together for years and looking at their documentaries with each other they really know how to collabrate and make it work. It's overwhelmingly obvious everyone in the band is super talented.

Wow i didn't know that about his sister introducing him to heavier stuff. Lost a lot of friends/family this year and this song has been in constant rotation when i'm feeling sad about it. Such great lyrics and of course the song itself is just periphery greatness.

If he wasent a metal singer pretty sure he still be singing somewhere. The dude is a classic pop tenor singer. Their a video of him nailing some high note off a backstresst boy tune.

Reading this hit me right in the soul. I knew it was about a person that was gone, didn't know it was Spencer's sister. This song is so beautiful, showing us that we should always be smiling, because that is what the loved one that's gone would want us to.
Spencer just has a way with words no other vocalist can replicate man, like talking to a real human being.
This was my favorite from the album from day one, such a soulful song.
This was my first metal show that i've been to and I travelled to London all by myself, was definitely worth it! So good

Crying my broken heart out listening to this... makes it a little less painful, almost like the pain is turning in to art and something not as scary and lonely anymore, it kind of fells like when some old friend that you lost touch with shows up to visit out of nowhere, causing an awkward silence and then you realize, that now he's a stranger to you and you are a stranger to him, that's how this song makes me feel.
We truly don’t deserve Periphery, they are gods amongst men blessing our ears with their souls
Thank you periphery for saving my life everytime and keeping me sane
I'm always impressed with bands that can bring great energy AND still do a great job replicating on stage how their albums sound in studio... For Perihpery to be playing their music and to have it sound functionally identical to their studio albums absolutely blows my mind (I recognize this is not one of Periphery's more technically advanced tracks). Truly some of the most talented people in music, let alone metal.

@@deadlikedinosaurs7211 oh for sure. I remember I thought it would be an easier one given that it was a borderline pop song (and no, that’s not a bad thing ffs) but they have these INSANE riffs packed in there. I feel u mate. This song is just loaded with emotion. And for a good reason of course. Spencer's vocals are very personal to him and the riffs are just the perfect company to the lyrics. It's this melancholic happiness that I feel in the song that makes me absolutely love it.

bittersweet tones tend to have a really moving emotional impact. major key and upbeat rifts combined with the tonal downshifts, occasional resonant clean notes, and sad heartfelt lyrics really make the song perfectly bittersweet
God that half time chorus at the end never fails to give me the biggest chills
I don't think the band members realise the calibre of music they make, or how it affects people. Maybe they're too humble to acknowledge their genius.
@LivWildStyle

It is humility, as you say. I also think of "being down to earth." Sometimes I meet someone just in normal life who is at such a advanced level "chill" that it is very noticeable. That is to say, its a personality thing, and in some sense not particularly common. Peace

Spencer such a good singer but listening to this. I've come to realized just how much heavy processing they put on his voice on the album. I say this cause he sound very thin here compare to the studio version. Just before I get torched as i usually do yes, i am award in studio version your usually have double to multiple tracks and effected. Im just saying why do the heavy process on vocal when you don't really need to.
@drumsno
2 жыл бұрын
It's not necessarily heavy processing. It's moreso over dubbing. He sings multiple vocal tracks on the album. His voice is more dry effect here too, which suits this music moreso than the record imo
Does anyone else find this to be a really weird mix? It's so top heavy / thin, even if there wasn't a live bass player I'd assume they would have mixed it a little more balanced, the vocals are reaaallly dry / uncompressed, and given they use backing tracks live it seems strange that they removed the harmonies / backing vocals from the track 🤔

They shouldn't add in backing harmonies. That would suck. there's only one vocalist live, so backing harmonies just makes no sense. I can forgive the bass track because it's so background but the vocals to sound like an amazing studio performance of multiple people with one guy on the mic is terrible.
