LOL 😅 However... "good" is a very subjective word. Whilst I get what you're saying (Meshuggah is a daily requirement, periphery is weekly at best for me), periphery have earned a place. No, they are not Meshuggah and I don't think they want to be. I for one do like both, so I live in my own little world that I described. 😉

People seem to forget it's a cover, it's not ment to be spot on and periphery are a progressive/Djent metal band, so of course the sound is different. I think it's an awesome cover with a periphery touch. I like both versions.✌🎸

Brickrocket, I get your point, but to be honest, as Meshuggah coined the term, and it has been developed to encompass a subgenre, the bands that incorporate Meshuggah's original sound can do what the want. Meshuggah will be Meshuggah because they lead this entire movement single-handedly.

In a recent interview morten said it was a mishearing of a soundguy was trying to hear what fredrik wanted from the amp. He said "I want that JEDGE JEDGE JEDGE" and the guy thought it was swedish word.

Maybe it's my speakers, but to me, the vocals are being over powered by the guitar and bass. Messugah's live performance in Montreal of NMCC had the perfect balance of all instruments, while being heavier than the original

@Saturndrum I like Periphery for the same reason you hate them. The "protools" element you are talking about just makes it tight as fuck. Really staccato and spot on, it gives an unbelieveable amount of accent to those rhythms.

But then I do like Ulcerate and The Red Shore, only in small doses though. As for Major key happy "core" stuff, I like the band We Came As Romans a heap, so, y'know, I'm not a hard line metalhead by any means, I venture into softer territory pretty often. Periphery isn't a Meshuggah clone, the only thing they share is somewhat similar distorted guitar tone.
