The problem is that Periphery are melancholy tryhard garbage that really wants to be as good as Meshuggah but isn't :)

LOL 😅 However... "good" is a very subjective word. Whilst I get what you're saying (Meshuggah is a daily requirement, periphery is weekly at best for me), periphery have earned a place. No, they are not Meshuggah and I don't think they want to be. I for one do like both, so I live in my own little world that I described. 😉

The constant debate in the comments about which band is better, Meshuggah or Periphery, is stupid. This is just a tribute, the amount of hipsters weighing which band is better is astounding. It's music people, enjoy it or don't.

Musically this feels a lot heavier, but vocally, this guy just can't compete with Jens. His vocals are awesome, but I feel like you just need Jens' scream to work with the Meshuggah sound.

People seem to forget it's a cover, it's not ment to be spot on and periphery are a progressive/Djent metal band, so of course the sound is different. I think it's an awesome cover with a periphery touch. I like both versions.✌🎸

Brickrocket, I get your point, but to be honest, as Meshuggah coined the term, and it has been developed to encompass a subgenre, the bands that incorporate Meshuggah's original sound can do what the want. Meshuggah will be Meshuggah because they lead this entire movement single-handedly.

In a recent interview morten said it was a mishearing of a soundguy was trying to hear what fredrik wanted from the amp. He said "I want that JEDGE JEDGE JEDGE" and the guy thought it was swedish word.

@ATtTheGates "Atonal / Brutal / Death metal' Djent bands" I'm not so sure that sounds like anything I'd be into, I'm not an Ion Dissonance fan put it that way. But then I do like Ulcerate and The Red Shore, only in small doses though. As for Major key happy "core" stuff, I like the band We Came As Romans a heap, so, y'know, I'm not a hard line metalhead by any means, I venture into softer territory pretty often. FellSilent is good...
