One thing that most reviewers agree on - is that the standard brakes are more than adequate. Seems like a big expense, though he's obviously a 'tinkerer'. I get the exhaust, suspension and air filter and the belt drive is excellent. Nice work, regardless.

As Robert said, he is from a performance back ground. He also uses the front brake more than the back, which is strange to me also to be honest. I’ve seen other videos where the Brembo master cylinder is fitted. I think this is a first for the calliper. He is obviously happy with it. 🙏

We need more experts like Robert in the Royal Enfield world, because RE seem to be on a drive to release new models and then move on as soon as they have produced one or two mods under their own brand. The Motto of "Make it your own" very much applies here, but can be difficult to achieve when RE keep technical information (like workshop manuals for their newer models [here's looking at you Super Meteor] to themselves. It's almost impossible to get torque settings for these bikes.

@@Teacher-T-ThailandThat would be amazing. I was trying to find out simple handlebar mount torque settings so I could adjust them to be a little more comfortable, but absolutely NO ONE had that information. I only found them by being sneaky and going to an accessories supplier. It just shouldn't be that difficult! I am a backer of the new Beeline Moto2 kickstarter and have been 3D printing a mod that will let me replace the "Tripper" with that as soon as it comes out. "Make it your own!"

In short, thanks for making these videos and thanks to Robert for giving you the time and making the kit. In long!... I was looking at the RE Interceptor last year and after searching for belt drive as an option, I was pleased to find a forum which had details of Robert's prototype, so it's nice to see it's now available. Having ridden bikes with oily chains for far too long, I now have a BMW shaft drive, a belt-driven Buell and a couple of BMC bicycles with the Gates Carbon belt drive, which are very smooth, quiet, clean and low maintenance. If I get an Interceptor, Robert's belt conversion kit will be at the top of the modification wish list 👍

A very interesting video👍👍. The Sikaflex 291 sealant sounds like a product that I need to go tubeless. I had considered tape or an old innertube to seal my spokes with, but was not familiar with the sealant and evidently it works! Since I am not going to race my Interceptors or change to 850cc, the stock brakes are adequate for me, although I may consider upgrading the front brake master cylinder. Later this year, I will have 15,000 kms on one of my Interceptors and I am thinking that I will order a belt drive kit for it. All good stuff!

I am interested in the belt drive kit my only question is can the front sprocket cover be put over the front sprocket (belt) as the only pictures I've seen show it without it, not sure whether that's to show it off or not.

Great video,I bought a 650gt knowing what it was and that I could improve it,I have the same exhaust, shocks, did he drill the dampers out when fitting the yss kit?a lithium ion battery saves 4.3kg,I will probably fit the belt drive kit just to save messing with a chain, good move on the brakes but just hh pads work for me,Avon tyres all the way for me,on our jag as well, look forward to more updates, thanks, rich

Yes the dampers are drilled, and I fail to see how it could be much of an improvement by simply stacking a valve on top of the stock damper. In fact I tried it using the YSS valve both ways, and am of the opinion that they need to be drilled. Not a bad mod for the money, but spring range is limited, and still not the same performance or adjustability as a cartridge kit. In retrospect I should have just bitten the bullet, and bought a cartridge valve insert from someone like Andreani, and still may do so. I typically change to a lithium battery when the stock LA one dies, so the Interceptor has had one for a couple of years now. HH pads work for most and a step up from my stock GF ones - IMHO a mod for all Riders irrespective of their thoughts on the adequacy of the braking system. If that does not do it for you, then next step is a better MC. If one still wants more, then there is no way around a greater piston area calliper, and a larger diameter rotor. Rear tyre to fit that rim is a 150/70/17, and I have the Metzlers in hand now

ECU is cracked and tuned, so 45.6 HP at 50.2 Nm at the rear wheel now, but keep in mine that comparing different inertia dyno results is not that accurate. You are going to have to wait until I put the 865 kit in it until the next dyno run. I also have a couple of other little tuning ideas in mind, once I open it up................

I am running a Powertronic ECU with Fuel-x Pro to correct AFR (Air Fuel ratio). I have not changed the header pipe configuration however have a performance 2*2 full system exhaust. Air management is with BMC air filter/ derestricted stage 2 plate. Doing about 55Hp and 60Nm. I recently switched to 16 teeth front configuration, Loving it.

20% stronger numbers, given the only major difference is in the ECU. What is the fuel? - I am running E10 gasohol at a AKI of 95, at an elevation of 300m. Keep in mind however, that as HP and TQ are not directly measured in an inertia dyno, but are calculated using proprietary software, you will see a variation not only between brands, but between different versions from the same manufacturer. Even using the same model/brand of an inertia dyno, there will be a variance. The inertia dyno however, is fairly repeatable, so a comparison needs to be run on the same machine, same operator, same conditions, etc, and then will still be a minor variance. Strong numbers all the same

Fuel at the Dyno runs were Octane 98+, elevation 930m, Tuned by company called Race Dynamics, The person who tuned my motorcycle also tunes for Race spec Honda and Yamaha for local track events. All 11 runs was from the same engineer. Peak power figures was on Map 2/ Fuel X 10. (They are map switch's for both ECU and AFR correctors Fuel X Pro) . I am short of a High lift cam and big Valve. I assumed that your Motorcycle had it. I would really want to know what a 650 is capable of before switching to a big bore. @@robertstraghan9009
