No emotion at all till she started singing the words. This song somehow instantly breaks my heart everytime and I cry profoundly sad tears. Stevie and I share the same changes in our lives. Our children grow up and move away. And we are left alone. We realize we have given our lives for our kids and didn't think they would leave so soon and abruptly. So our heart is still emotionally attached to oir kids. And now we are faced with growing old alone.

Great Video! For me, it would be helpful to have one brief shot of the overall chord progression by name. Even it if was just 5 secs still frame, it would let me write down the chord progression. Or at a minimum, put the chord names above the pattern. - but beautiful rendition and I appreciate you putting this together for us.

Great lesson! Excellent choice of beginner picking pattern! My experience, for what it's worth: Thing with fingerpicking is you need to practice enough so that it is automatic. Just as said near the end of the video, if you start thinking about your picking hand while playing you will probably mess up. A good habit is to start very slowly and repeat, snd repeat. Only when you can keep it up for a long time (minutes!) you increase the tempo (small increases!). Use a metronome to pace youself (smartphone metronome apps exists!). You might spend a few days on it, or a few weeks. You will probably sigh a lot etc, but stay with it. Because.. One day, suddenly, out of nowhere, it just starts to work without you thinking about it. You will now be free to use your active thoughts for your fretting hand. Takeaways: 1 - Practice the right way. 2 - Be patient. 3 - You WILL succed!

I'm a hi-bread picker, meaning that I often use a pick, or my fingers, or both. Because this progression always sits on top of the actual open chords, you can also use a pick, to get comfortable with the overall tempo, or flow of the song, as well as developing other beneficial techniques. It quickly becomes hard to make "noticeable mistakes" I am not sure if this advice is actually helpful for beginners, or not, but it is worth a try, It can help you to develop pinkie strength in a more natural way. The habits we develop as beginners, are often a part of our own "style" later on, which is not always a bad thing...

Man, I like that guitar... It's a shame they don't make it in left-handed form -- *very* few of the Builder's Edition guitars are available in left-handed form. I love fingerpicking. I suck at it. But I love it. My problem is twofold: 1) it's far too easy to have a dead string, which you wouldn't really hear if you were strumming, but it's quite obvious when you're picking individual strings in the chord, and 2) I can't seem to change chords without stopping my picking hand while the chord change is in progress. Of course, I can't seem to do that even when I'm strumming, so I guess that's just a general chord-changing problem for me...

At 3:37 Lauren was wondering if they came from Latin, but since the image clearly shows 5 initial P, I, M, A and C, they are in Spanish, not Latin, not Italian, not any other romance language, even if the first 3 or 4 might be the same initial, the 5th being C (CHICO) indicates Spanish, which is clearly a language related to classic guitar tradition.
