You always say "No matter what you do, start with excellence." If you combine that with knowing when to quit making the scratch pattern, maybe you should revise your catchphrase and make it "No matter what you do, start with excellence, and know when to quit." Great video as usual.

Awesome jig and process - I can definitely see me using this. I'd be worried about aluminium as a pickguard material though, particularly if it's fairly thick. Given how conductive it is, I'd be concerned about eddy currents killing the top end response of the pickups.

I'm not sure about all of that. I have used it before with success and no issues. In fact...I just finish final setup of a silver sparkle Nellie last night...and it sounds incredible...oh wait, that one has a Carbon Fiber pickguard. I plan to do a demo video once the "Barbie Blue Sparkel" Nellie TSS is complete...so maybe that will answer some questions.

@@maximumguitarworks speaking of colors... another youtube channel, scar my guitar, ... who also works with "excellence" (lol! -see for yourself), ... lets just say he has an opposite style compared to Steve, but the results are also excellent, has an awesome idea of doing the fret dots/inlays... he uses a 3d pen you can buy on amazon which uses a roll of that plastic string material to fill in the dot holes. super cool because you can get that material in a bunch of colors to match with rest of your color scheme of the guitar... you just fill it in and sand it off. brilliant idea!

Happy to have found you! I have a question. I hope it is appropriate to post here. My guitar is a Suhr Andy Wood Tele guitar (black model with two humbuckers). It has a anodized aluminum pickguard that appears to be brushed. I like it a lot. However, I got this guitar used and the previous owner put some unattractive marks on the pickguard. I’m not able to order a new one. I’m hoping there’s a way to make the aluminum uniform again. I wonder if you have any advice about that. Thank you! Marty Wilson

Great video| I love making jigs for guitar work. They make guitar parts consistent and reproducable. Do you think Corian would make a good bed for the jig? I've tried it for sanding blocks and I like the fact that its level. The baltic birch looks great and has a nice organic look. Your jig gives super results.

You are so right about the consistency. Back in the day I used to turn pen blanks out of Corian...great stuff. I would say yes...Corian would be a great addition to many jigs. I'm assuming you have access to Corian for not a whole lot of money?
