I'm anticipating freeze up. I really love ice fishing, I just don't go out on thin ice anymore. Maybe I should just go hit a few shore spots and see if I can pull out a fish fry or two.

I think the weekend of January 13th there will be more ice fishing options around the upper Mississippi River.

Looks like a good day to be in the boat. We don’t say that at the end of December very often. Fishing is non existent in my area this time of the year for the most part. You do have a fine meal there.

My rod is a 7' light action panfish rod and Niki is using a 6'9" medium light fast action rod both made by Radcliffe Custom Rods.

Nice catch! Are pike as underutilized in your pools as they are in mine? I saw 1 pike caught last year down here and it's not because they aren't around. The boat takes its last voyage of the season next Monday. Saugeye time is near!

I think the pike are a polarizing species. Some people love and target them, others would prefer they all disappear. I love fishing for pike! Especially big ones!

Went out in my boat today all i found was 2 inches of honeycomb ice

If only everyone would release all pike over 30 .needs to be more laws.also only took a second to figure out where this is.hope others dont.
