Perahera buddhist festival and the temple of the sacred tooth relic in Kandy | Sri Lanka with kids 5
This summer we took our 4 foster kids to the island of Sri Lanka self driving 2 tuktuks! An adventure that would lead us to seeing loads of animals, visiting gorgeous temples, driving through tea plantations, snorkeling in search of sea turtles, eating great food, witnessing the most amazing festival... and above all meeting a lot of amazing people. In this vlog: Exploring Anuradhapura!

I was there with my family. Indeed it was an amazing experience. Kandy was very busy despite the lull in tourism this August. I can't imagine what it looks like during full blown tourism. But I agree - it was the highlight of our tour of Sri Lanka, which we timed around the dates of the Esala Perahera.

Such a cultural experience, right? Thanks for watching, happy to hear it brought back some great memories!
These elephants are domesticated. They are quite use to these Perehera s. Every month somewhere in Srilanka their are one or two Perehera s .but kandy Perehera is the most important religious and cultural event in Srilanka. From the ancient times with the blessings and orders from rulers of the land elephants are most important part of the Perehera. Most of these elephants are owned by various temple's, & well looked after. If at all people are concerned about animals, first they must talked about hunting, horse, dogs, camels racing. Just for money sake. Hope you all had a happy time in Srilanka. Have a safe and happy journey Love to all from Srilanka
