I actually wouldn't mind a modern version of a flip phone tbh. A normal smartphone, with the larger screen size and touch screen and everything, but the flip part could be basically like a built-in case or screen cover/protector; it could function as the lock/unlock screen, pickup/hangup calls, maybe have a little clip sorta thing so you could chuck your ID and credit card in it... That'd be awesome! I mean, people already get those phone case wallets that effectively turn their phones into flip phones anyway - It'd just be cool to have a modern tech version where it's already part of the phone has some real in-phone functionality as well as not taking up extra space like the cases do! I'm thinking with the screen on the lower section of the flip, where the physical keys were on old flip phones, and the top section be either small storage or a screen protector or a power bank or something like that. Hell yeah. Someone get on this!

i really wish that people with smartphones in today's world could have the strength to cut themselves off from their attachment to their phones. as a society, we've become so addicted to these devices and it is so damaging to be so reliant on them. there are days where i will not even look at my iphone or feel the need to constantly check it because i would rather be involved in what's happening around me in the present. idk it's really rewarding to take yourself away from your device from a while and reconnect with the world in real time.

Let’s have some perspective here. My grandparents lived through the Great Depression as children. Their parents struggled every day just to find enough food to feed the family. It had such a profound psychological impact that until the day they died, they salvaged every food item they possibly could, even when it was questionable at best, and despite the fact that they had more than enough resources to go to the grocery store to purchase fresh food. Living through the Depression sounded like hell. Smartphone addiction sounds more like a social nuisance. Not comparable.

I mean, you can still do all those things on a laptop or tablet. If people back in the days were able to find their way then I'm sure we can to without the use of a smartphone. We depend on technology like we need it to live, but when it comes down to it there are more precious and valuable things we can do with our lives.

I wish everyone would do this. I'm in my 30s and have never owned a smart phone. That means no twitter, no instagram, no google maps etc. I often leave my phone at home without a care. My reason for this is that I prefer to be self reliant and available on my schedule. It's a very freeing lifestyle. To someone like me this isn't even a challenge.

Well some of us still exist and can carry conversations without being on our phone. I was in my school parking lot driving to the stop and I am going slow. There was a girl texting and coming towards me. I see her and I stop way ahead. I was watching if she will notice that there's a car in her way. She almost walked into my car. Never ever text while walking across any intersection or you are moving into oncoming cars. Again parking lot usually people go slow but there'll come a day when someone is in a rush and whips out of there. Don't be that squirrel that never crossed the road!

Two days ago, I was at this great chinese restaurant. Two tables away there sat a family of four. Parents a teen-aged girl and a two year old. The parents and teen were on their 'smart' phones and the two yr old , literally yelled for attention, but was ignored. They would share some of their messages around, even passing cells around, even taking 'selfies' but STILL ignored the two yr old. They would sort of gooble their food, concentrate on their cell, continuing to ignore the two yr old.
