No , he was playing around with it thats why his fork was dirty! He also said that it looked good and smelt good not how it tasted :) As a vegan myself you can identify good components without actually eating it! Mimi’s to me also looked good but I wouldn’t eat it

MiMi's is the closest to what my mom used to make. My mom used to add dried & yellow mustard because she didn't want it exclusively tasting like mayonnaise. I haven't had potato salad since before she passed in 2014 because I'm that picky. She last made some for us on Thanksgiving 2013. She raised me in the kitchen with her & taught me a lot of what she knew. I'd love to just have one more cooking session with her. 🙏🏾❤️🕊️

Julia child's potato salad is amazing. She adds crisp bacon, a dill pickle, 1 hard boiled egg, céleri, onions and homemade mayonnaise. Oh and a little bit of chicken broth at first to prevent the potatoes to soak up the oil in the mayonnaise

I am plant based now; but when I first fell in love with potato salad, it was made with semi chunky irish potatoes, (85%) with very finely chopped onions, hardboiled eggs, salt, mayo, pinch of mustard and some type of sazon ish seasoning. Oh, and I will say that salad also had some raisins in there. Another sis invited me over, and her salad not only had raisins, but even apples, and perfectly uniformly cubed cellery stalk in there... I have also enjoyed my potato salad with sweet corn and a touch of brown sugar. At the time, I lived in the caribbean. Then I spent 6 years in North LA and on almost every given Sunday, a different sweet church neighbor would offer us like 20 percent chunk almost soupy potato salad with sweet relish😢😮.... uughh I never got used to that

I always get compliments on my potato salad. I put a little vinegar and mustard in my mayo. I season with celery salt, pepper and garlic powder and paprika. In addition add a little chopped onion and celery. Don’t overcook the potatoes.. they should be separate but not too large. For taste you can slice up some boiled egg and add or decorate the top with. For my taste, I prefer no egg but many people like it.

I love how Jeremia had the audacity to say "every time I come here yall always try to gentrify the dish" when his mashed potatos looked like some Whole Foods bullshit 🤣🤣🤣 Then of course he is like "You guys are just picking on the Vegans" 💀💀💀 While I appreciate that Ty is just starting to cook, he should maybe try to follow recipes for a little while before getting too experimental.

Mimi's potato salad is the only dish that looks appealing and the type of potato salad I am accustomed to seeing. The sweet potato dish seemed more like a dessert, perhaps a souffle. The vegan potato salad needed a different texture and those large vegetable chunks to be diced into smaller pieces.

I also grew up on that as well. My mom either got a good store bought one or on the rare occasion made her own , it looked like Mimi's. I guess I had more seasoning in my life than what I thought I did.

I think it's hilarious that they got someone who don't even really like potato salad to participate in this video 💀 it's even funnier that the two with the most unconventional potato salads looked at the traditional potato salad sideways 😭

I'm from Singapore, and my mum's potato salad (the BEST everyone loves it) looks exactly like Mimi's. She learned the recipe from her black host family when she was studying in Texas.

Don't let bl ack people "claim" potato salad...it is G erman..there are multiple types of different G erman types, but the northern style is identical to southern American, since that's where it came from

I remember pickeled relish, hard boiled eggs sliced and layered on top of the potato salads that I have, and to let it chill in the fridge, not to mention the paprika. And I remember trying Jamaican version as that one had green peas in it, but it was still banging. AND that Potato salads would be done in them big ass salad bowls or in a big ass pot

@@FrankWolenczak Yesss!! My mom was known as the potato salad lady and sold to whoever wanted to buy. People would ask for her recipe and she would tell them the "secret" was sweet relish. Of course, people tried it and still didn't come out like hers LOL. She did the egg slices and paprika finish too.

as soon as i saw ty's dish all i could think is "everybody so creative!"

My mom’s potato salad is the bomb! Growing up every pot luck party it was always a hit.
