@baque who? Taylor was 22 when harry was 18, and she was 19 when Taylor lautner was 17… a four year age gap is normal when you’re 22, and the line references dating young girls of the same age as he got older. Taylor isn’t dating teenagers in her 30’s. You completely missed the point.
She said “I was never good at telling jokes” because HE NEVER DID find her funny. “You throw your head back laughing like a little kid, I think it strange that you think i’m funny ‘cause he never did”.

Imagine thinking Taylor aint funny tho. All the jokes aside, she could become a succesfull stand up comedian if singing was not working for her. Her timing, delivery and dry sense of humor are perfect. Just watch the monologue speech she gave in SNL or blank space grammy performance. She nailed humor.

@@AssEater3000 lol. or men just have low EQ. And sure, they can manipulate younger women, which they can't do with women their age. But that works the same, we all can manipulate people 13 years younger than us.... but women tend NOT to dabble in this behavior.
I literally burst out of laughter because it is indeed True. But the line that caught me most was "The idea you had of me? Who was she?" When you've been lover for so many years but his ideals of love towards you aren't the same as what you're expected to be. The relationship grows but the trust and love slowly drop and drown to coldness because there's no acceptance, understanding and braveness to shout out your love.
@Whatsayoutuber

Ugh yes… I definitely had some identity dissonance when I changed a lot as a person in the year after I broke up with a guy I’d been dating for 2.5 years. Realizing he’d hate the person I now was felt really weird. And I realized that he was helping keep me from fully being myself when we were dating. He’s also still the only person I’ve ever loved, and that person wasn’t even me anymore. I also feel like many men I’ve had situations with build some idea of me up in their heads early on and get really enthusiastic, and then I unknowingly seem to blow apart that fake idea they had of me. And then they leave.
The fact that it comes right when you think the song over. I'll never forget hearing it for the first time

@@gee2541 Yeah a dude in his late 30’s pushing 40 going after women in their early 20’s whose brains have not fully formed, (that’s a scientific fact, feel free to look it up) is creepy as hell, it always has been. Predators, Hollywood and the media have just tried to normalize it but anyone with a sound mind and critical thinking skills knows to see past that in order to avoid becoming part of the brainwashed sheeple.
@gee2541
2 жыл бұрын
@@taraz6786 You’re wrong. I don’t abide by or condone predatory behavior by any means but the dude does not have a pattern of going after women younger than him. I’m not “brainwashed” either and you don’t have to act as if someone who has a different opinion than you is somehow dumb or lacks scientific knowledge. Don’t have to look it up but thanks. I’m 22 and if I were to go out with a man in his 30s (as many women prefer) or older than me, that would not mean he is inherently taking advantage of me. There is absolutely ZERO wrong with age-gap relationships unless there is manipulation or abuse at play and that is not always the case at all. You seem very closed-minded but people can form connections and fall in love throughout many ages as consensual adults. Take a trip outside of America for a change and you’ll realize how puritanical you sound.
@taraz6786
2 жыл бұрын
@@gee2541 That’s the thing though, people think acting in a predatory manner or being taken advantage of only looks one way and it doesn’t at all and in other countries, gang rapes, child brides, genital mutilation, marital rape, human trafficking, rape porn are just some of the norms so while the US can be just as corrupt and dark, comparing it to other countries isn’t the most feasible concept. Now the very fact that a person is pursuing someone significantly younger than them and this really only pertains to people under 25-26, well that alone is an alarm bell because unless the younger person is a Rhodes scholar or is Benjamin Button, the reason tends to gear towards them having less life experience, being less successful, more malleable, easier to coerce especially regarding children, sometimes marriage & because the older partner feels less intimidated or more secure with a younger person because they feed their ego, etc etc. I’ve studied psychology and this is not a new phenomenon. It’s why if you look it up, more women get abused, raped, coerced, gaslighted and are prone to tolerate micro-aggressions and smaller manipulative tactics that they’re not even aware of. The human brain is not fully developed then and most people are aware of that. If a man in his 30’s is interested in you, that isn’t romantic or normal because your first thought should be and this should be a general rule of thumb, ‘what is so wrong with him, that he cannot or will not get a woman nearer his age’ because that alone is a red flag. He either is emotionally or physically abusive, wildly insecure and needs validation or is intimidated or fetishizes younger women through porn and so and so forth. There are hundreds and hundreds of reasons behind it and I’ve only named some of them, not to mention I haven’t even listed the stats and surveys that I’ve had to absorb. It’s literally just about being a critical thinker that’s all and in this world, thinking, researching and debating, especially when it comes to men who whether you want to believe it or not, do commit most of the violent and cruel crimes and partake hugely in femicide, well critiquing men who fetishize younger girls and women will only serve to help you and your mental health.
@gee2541
2 жыл бұрын
@@taraz6786 We have different opinions regarding consensual age-gap relationships and that’s fine. You can list a plethora of psychological research and expertise but that does not dismiss my point at all. I didn’t say abuse cannot be demonstrated in different ways once. I said that not all age gap relationships are automatically abusive and it is harmful to say otherwise because we are then partaking in generalizing entire relationships. If a man is consistently looking for a younger woman to abuse and emotionally damage then yes, he should absolutely be called out as that is dangerous and not okay. But my original point that you’re ignoring as you go into a tangent about a completely different argument was that not all relationships that involve an older man and a younger woman should be demonized. Love happens at different ages sometimes and you can have a solid, sincere connection with someone older without being taken advantage of. I’ve seen this trend where people try to force their own dating preferences onto others because they themselves follow a set of morals in regards to dating that they believe everyone should follow but that’s entitlement at its finest (which is common in America). If you go to Europe, it is commonplace for women and men to be involved in age gap relationships and many of these dynamics are perfectly healthy. There is a very fine line between protecting women and infantilizing grown women in their 20s who want to engage in consensual relationships as the latter is ridiculous and makes women seem like they have no agency of their own. That was my point. It’s fine if we disagree but let’s not pretend we were talking about a whole other discussion.

My biggest regret will forever be not recording myself listening to this for the first time
When I was barely 18 years old I started working at Lowe’s, where I met a married man who was 45 years old. We hated each other at first, but very quickly turned from friendship, to flirtatious, to him eventually giving me a ride home, stopping the car and kissing me, then to a 1 year long affair. That was ten years ago, and it still has a very negative effect on me. The affair was very toxic and I eventually developed an eating disorder, which I still suffer from. This song means so much to me, I listen to it all the time. So many lines stick out to me like, “if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine....” and “I’m a soldier, who’s returning half her weight....”. I’ve listened to it so often, yet I still get goosebumps.

And the real power behind this line, at least to me, is not only the obvious fact that it's a dig at his eyebrow-raising preference in significantly younger women than himself, but the fact that Taylor was not even the age she is now when she wrote it as a VERY young woman. And the girls he dates time and time again will stay the age she was when she first fell in love with him, meanwhile she AND he will continue to age, which makes all of it just really unsettling. It goes over a lot of peoples' heads when they don't understand and deem the "punchline" as confusing. Just thought I'd explain it a little in further detail 😋
