Always fun to watch people walk around, looking around... instead of everyone looking down at their phone.

In 1992 I was a senior in HS. Those were the days! The world was so big.

My dad was finishing law school here in the late 90's. Guy's an audiophile. I remember him dragging me to record stores on State Going into record stores, bribing me with a pack of Pokemon cards... Gazing in awe at dudes in leather jacket with liberty spikes. I live in Madison now, but 90's Madison sound like an oasis. Madison has always been kinda weird and quirky. It's why I love it.

I have a sorry tale to tell you in 2021. Destructive riots have ended 1/3 of the businesses there. It's very sad.

@@Horzzo Riots for sure did a lot of property damage. that can't be denied. but a lot of the businesses got hit harder by the overall pandemic. Both Espresso Royales and a number of the older stores were closing before Summer 2020. 2020 and 2021 in general were a really tough time for small businesses

Lived on Regent Street - 1 block from the Badger Stadium and 3 blocks from Madison West High School where I graduated 2 years prior to this video's taping. We had a huge back yard and on game days my brothers and sisters and I used to let people park their cars there for 5 bucks haha! Made some good money doing that. This was fun to watch - I was barely out of high school in 1992 and its funny looking at these people and seeing how I dressed back then lol

Yes as one person has already responded, Steep and Brew closed almost 10 years ago. I remember i went there quite a bit as a grad student back in 2012. There was also a place called the Steepery, but they closed down too :(

wow r u serious? this is a long shot question, but did he know how to make the stuffed chicken with mushrooms spinach feta (I think) and the burgundy black raspberry wine sauce? and how about the cucumber curry mint dressing? last I ate there was 2017 in its new location (my fav place from 1999 on). they closed 9 months later. my husband tried to contact the owner to see if they would ever reopen and for the recipe for a diehard fan (me). omg any insight would be appreciated ❤. the stuffed chicken was and still is my favorite meal.

@@Growingup80s90s Come to think of it, it sounds like Sigur Ros. The reason I watched this video to begin with is that even though I am from Iowa, I think this was filmed the same year I visited Madison Wisconsin for the first time. I've been there many times since!

@@aamirqz Exactly. I graduated from the UW in engineering in '92. Plenty if Asians there and they were always at Union South. Evening, weekends, holidays. It forced to study very hard to get good grades against them.
