@@tayedwards600 that team was one of the best defensive teams in the game. The cavs weren’t the greatest but they weren’t bad at all. They gave bron what he needed, which was shooters. Everyone did their job. Just because they’re wete role players that doesn’t mean the team was bad. All they neeeded was one other star and the narrative would be completely different. Lebron, another star and a shit ton of 3 and d guys is a complete team.

Kidd was a great point guard he played the game the way a point guard is supposed to play the game. Getting his teammates involved and making everyone around him better.

Made me proud to be a New Jerseyan from 2001-2008. Always caught the Nets highlights on YES Network in the morning before going to school.

Crazy to think he turned 30 the end of that season nd 8 years!! later would go on to finally win his chip. Who wouldve thought

I remember NBA Inside Drive 2002 on the old xbox. He was point god in that game all lobs leads to dunk and long range threes were wet af.

Jason Kidd changed the way I saw the game by his dominance of the league by passing. Should have won 1 or 2 MVPs easily.

@@Saberwolves84 I disagree. The award is most valuable player, Kidd literally took that Nets team whom had been at the bottom of the East for years to the number one seed, same as Nash did a couple of years later in Phoenix. Kidd definitely had the bigger impact.

@@Jerrel28 MVP is for that season so what happened before is not accounted for. The Nets had 52 wins that year which would not have even been a top 3 record in the west they played in one of the weakest conferences on NBA history.

Nets with Kidd were just a different breed man!

The thing that I love about great point guards whose graced our league like j kidd, stockton, magic and so on is that there were never any waisted dribbles whenever the ball was in their hands. You knew that whenever they made a move it was with a purpose to either pass or score.

Even though Steve Nash is a 2 time MVP, I would still pick Jason Kidd over Nash on my team, he is just so well rounded and just the better player period, he would make a huge impact on any era, or any system the coach would like to implement, sure being MVP is great but it does not automatically mean your the best player, because if the number of MVP awards will be the sole standard for greatness just imagine Nash is a 2 time MVP but that doesn't mean he is better than Shaq, Kobe, KD, KG AI & Dirk just to name a few who only won the MVP award once, also Nash became MVP right after some rule changes and Nash really benefited from it. (that is why Shaq is bitter on Nash winning MVP over him 🤣)

J Kidd had the coolest free throw routine forgotten legend people don’t bring him up with the all time greats which should be a crime

I was a Nets fan from the late 80's up till about when they moved to Brooklyn. My two favorite years being a Nets fan were the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons. JKidd was an absolute JOY to watch. Like Magic and Bird before him, JKidd had a complete game, was entertaining as all hell to watch, and made his teamates better. I was happy he finally got the title he deserved in 2011. This video brings back great memories. Thank you.

It’s truly unfortunate they didn’t get the chip in this time. Granted they were totally outmatched by the Lakers in 02 but they could’ve won a giant the Spurs the next year

Jason Kidd is a top 5 all-time pg. A true pass first pg that made everyone around him better. He was so damn smooth and I was happy as hell when he won a chip on the Mavs.

Coming from Jersey myself I watch every game on the Yes channel and when I was younger he became my favorite player of all time. Thank you for the highlights man.

Duncan had the rebounds and blocks stuffed(good assist numbers for his position as well) and Kidd had the assists and steals stuffed(with great rebounding numbers for his position) but Duncan just has a waaay higher gear in the playoffs, but hey hes the greatest PF ever for a reason

Kidd is the greatest rebounding pg in nba history. All his boards came organically within the flow of the game. He didn’t have Steven adams boxing every one out so he could grab every uncontested defense rebound in order to chase triple doubles

Most underrated player ever imo.

If Vince was on the 02 & 03 nets team there definitely would've been a game 7 in all those finals series.. homecourt, THEY WIN!

finally people forget how good j kidd was. not known for his scoring but can get a bucket if need be and ran your offense to perfection great rebounding guard great defender

First time I heard of Jason Kidd I was in Alameda taking a break from Cal. My younger brothers friend was talking up this guy that played at Saint Joe's a few blocks away from our house. Said he was going NBA, etc. I remember my comment was no way, he can't be that good. A couple years later who shows up at Cal, of all places, Jason Kidd. He was phenomenal at Cal bringing them to tournament and winning some games. Followed him in the NBA, great player.

Not completely true. Kidd in the early 2000s was the fastest point guard with the ball in his hands, which is what made the Nets so deadly in fastbreak situations. He was also a huge point guard at 6-4 and 210+ lbs. Kidd was the strongest PG in that era aside from Billups.

how he didnt get MVP this season will is and will always be the biggest injustice in the NBA of all time for me. no way youd be able to convince me Duncan deserved it. it looks even worse now seeing 3 HOFers on his team with a HOF coach while Kidd ran with not one and beat them 2 games in the finals. smgdh

He had that hop in his lob pass to make that much more efficient and precise accuracy. Similar to slapping down shooting arm coming up on shot to make it more accurate on drives or moves under the board. What an underrated legend that 100% had impact on 2011 Chip Run.

J kidd was an elite defender as well, People seem to forget that or not know that. Also tripple doubles came naturally for him, he wasn't Stat chasing either. Just look at how many career offense rebounds he has.

The word underrated has kinda lost its meaning with how often it's being used nowadays, but Jason Kidd IS being underrated and doesn't get enough credit in the GOAT PG discussion.
