Just to let you know Mitch went through a lot of bullying..he actually deactivated most of his social media because of it..He wrote a song about this experience called Never Gonna Cry Again..beautiful song..Fame brought him and the rest of the group so many positive things to their lives..but also negativity from people who have no respect for others..so many have gone through this terrible situation in their lives..so just thought I would let you know you do have a connection with Mitch through what you've both been through..THANKS for being you..and Mitch..so glad you overcome this terrible time in your life..we all love you..❤️

This is one of the most emotional videos I have seen, it brings me to tears every time I see/hear this as. As an older gay man, I appreciate the courage these young people had to individualize who they are and what they have in common. In the end, we are all human. Also, you don't need to apologize for tears in any Pentatonix song, it's common.

The chances of this group coming together was so infinitesimally small that only the powers that be in the universe could have made it happen. I’m glad they decided to do that to allow us mere mortals to have something to brighten our days. Three kids meet as children who love to sing and decide to keep singing together in school and local theater. As a side note, can you imagine trying to keep those three reigned in in high school choir? Scott, Mitch and Kirstie say that she did help them learn to blend better. They become life-long friends. Scott befriends Ben Bram who helps Scott get on The Sing Off. Ben introduces Scott to Avi. Scott talks Kevin into giving up med school at Yale and joining four strangers to compete on The Sing Off. They actually win the show. Sony drops them so they decide to start building their Pentaholic following on You Tube. Viral videos, and great music follows, and they get resigned to Sony. Avi decides to leave the group and they find another great bass in Matt. While Matt is not Avi, he is still excellent and I think he blends even better with the other members of PTX. If anything happens differently along that path Pentatonix does not exist, and the world is a lesser place.

This is PTX cover I judge reviewers on. If they don't get the message, I don't listen to them again. I could tell from the beginning that you would get it. I am so sorry you were bullied. The cards show what each one has in common with the next person, but also shows their differences. Yet they work(ed) and sing together. Space Coast, Florida here.

I LOVE the judgement line (even if the message is don’t judge, lol) being their reaction, expression of emotions and acceptance they show to this song. I have subbed many channels because they are reacting to PTX. I need to thin them out though as I’ve only been down this rabbit hole about 7 months. I have tons of songs yet to here. It’s crazy how no matter what PTX song you listen to it hits your top 3 at least and better than the last. Even after you’ve listened to dozens. If the reactor just listens, drops their jaw, say “I don’t know what to say” and wraps it up, I can do that myself. Thanks Matt for letting us see who you are wounds, flaws and all. If you don’t have a strong reaction to this song then you need to get to a cardiologist or exorcist soon😉 Another one that has grabbed me into a channel is Mary Did You Know. One of my first videos/reactions was to a non believer, borderline atheist, who completely lost it, had to stop the video, regroup and reset. It got to him quick. He sort of teased about “did she know what” before it started. When he finally got himself to the end he was visibly trembling and “changed”. Saying to the effect of I don’t k ow if Mary knew but after this I Know. You can’t get any better than that. So I do recommend “Mary Did You Know”, Hallelujah and for a great change of pace Daft Punk Medley. You can’t go wrong with them but Daft Punk was in the early years, done in a closet and kitchen counter at Kevin and Avi’s house on a budget of $400. Sony had dropped them but they’re too good at what they love to let that stop them. If and it got them their first of 3 Grammys. And that can do the same effects live as per a private video that is on their page. Keep them up. Oh yeah, from Ashland, Kentucky, USA

I can’t believe that I allowed it to happen. All I wanted to do was my job which I was really good at. I ended up losing my career and my teacher’s pension plus I had to remortgage my house because she made sure I couldn’t get another job. Hello Matts Reacts. So glad you are keeping up with PTX reactions. Pentatonix have taken this classic John Lennon song, with the message of tolerance, love and peace for humanity and they have brought that message right into the 21st century incorporating acceptance and diversity. The cards reflect traits of the person holding the card and then the trait that they share with the person that they pass the card to. Another astounding arrangement, beautiful solos, impeccable harmonization, the layering and stacking of voices, the rising crescendo and the signature Pentatonix Wall of Sound. That high note at the beginning was Kevin, the beat boxer - BTW - Kevin can also sing. - you heard him Keep going with the videos. Love how you are really appreciating their talent, creativity and innovation. Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for your message. Your reactions are heartfelt.

I totally know what you mean, and much love for that! I also want to add the quote of Matt at 9:26: "I wish that everyone could just accept everyone, no matter who you are." and 9:45: "I wish that everyone could just be friends. Just imagine that. That's a world I wanna live in." There is a huge variety in this group. 2 LGBTQ+, men and women, black and white, different cultural heritages, 1 Jewish, 2 Christians. And they all harmonize in unity - they couldn't do that if they wouldn't totally accept each other as peaceful human beings - and friends. Why am I saying this? Because in my study group we are 4 people: 1 Islamic, 2 Christian, 1 atheist LGBTQ+ that is leading the university's LGBTQ+ group. He really is a dear friend. And we are all living peacefully and in perfect acceptance together, as friends. I think we should put the generalization of people behind us. We should fight violent behavior - also in religion, also violent LGBTQ+ people - no matter who they belong to. It's the violence and dividing/ostracizing behavior we are fighting against. Not totally peaceful people that happen to belong to a certain group. I want to live in a world, where people are only judged by their actions. Not their skin color, origin, preferences or other groups, as long as they live peacefully. We should learn that lesson to not target a large amount of people anymore, not noticing that they consist of both good and bad people. Or we could repeat another dark age of hunting peacefully living people based on an ideology that targets the whole group of people.

I would really recommend Superfruit (Scott and Mitch's channel) with 'Rise' - their Katy Perry cover. They collaborated with three other members of the LGBTQi+ community on it - Brian Justin Crum, Mario Jose and Mary Lambert and it was recorded in memory of the 49 people killed and 50+ wounded in 2016 in the mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse in Florida. It's a beautiful tribute sung by sensational singers.

There doesn't seem to be a separate video for it, but toward the very end of PTX's run on the 2011 Sing Off, they visited The Trevor Project and spoke to the teens there about their own experiences with bullying and prejudice aimed at them. Specifically Mitch and Avi spoke, as Mitch was bullied in school for his high voice (and he talks about "who's laughing now"), and Avi met with bullying in regard to being Jewish in a school where that set him apart very seriously. They all encouraged the teens to hold their heads high, know their own value, and persist like they did.

I'm from Ohio and 43 years ago my husband and I spent part of our honeymoon in Alberta in the BEAUTIFUL mountains. Well done! You identified them all (the members)! There are some reactors who have been reacting to PTX for a year and still don't know their names. High note was Avi during his solo. You are so right...we need to check up on our family. Check out their "I Just Called to Say I Love You". Also, a perfect message for today and during the pandemic.

Matt, I guess many of us were bullied. It was a time I'd like to forget, but never will. I cry every time I watch and listen to this. Here are a "few" more for you to react to: The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Say Something, Havana, Royals, Come Along, so many more and lots of Christmas music!

Part of the magic of Pentatonix is that somehow their clear, amazing harmonies and powerful voices make the lyrics crystal clear - almost hearing them for the first time. This song came out right after Trump's Muslim ban that had the US protesting at airports where there was chaos. Very emotional time for the country. They changed the description from when they first posted this but it was about how the diversity of their voices is what makes their harmony. Their differences is what makes PTX so powerful. I cried like a baby.

I am a 50 year old gay man. Way back when I was in school, I was bullied constantly because people thought I was gay. I had to pretend to be straight just to keep from being beat up on a regular basis. By the time I was an adult, I ended getting married and having a child because I was so afraid to be myself. It’s horrible that in this day and age people are still being treated like this, despite how far we have come. This video always makes me cry because of what I have gone through. Thanks for your reaction and your support. I agree. Everyone should be accepted for who they are.

PTX were all made to feel like misfits Kirsty, Scott and Mitch in Texas. Kevin in Kentucky and Avi as a Jew in a Christian area. If this is the misfits group sign me up. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This one hits deep, for sure -- and Pentatonix are the perfect people to give it that whole extra dimension. Another of theirs that has a similar effect is their original song 'Thank You.' It was written by Scott and his partner during COVID, they released it for Christmas 2020, and very few people can get through it without tearing up, because it perfectly captures what everyone was feeling round about that time. Oh, and it has Scott on piano and Kevin on cello too. And you finally got to hear Kevin's surprise tenor! You'll also hear it on 'Amazing Grace' and 'Mary Did You Know' as well -- another two to add to your list.

This was such a beautiful reaction. I'm so sorry you experienced bullying. The more we talk about it and stand up for one another the more we can save young people from that fate. I feel that Pentatonix is so much more than beautiful music. Like you said, nobody tries to grab the spotlight, and they are all monster talents who could easily have giant egos, but they don't. And just among the five of them (6 with Matt) they represent a lot of diversity. Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie have known each other since childhood, they went to the same high school in Texas, and became a trio. Scott and Ben (their arranging partner since the beginning) came up with the idea to enter them in The Sing Off tv show ten years ago, but they had to have at least five members. They knew their sound was incomplete without a bass and a beatboxer. Ben was friends with someone who recommended Avi, and Scott saw Kevin in a KZread video doing his celloboxing (beatboxing while playing his cello). They met up only one day before auditioning for,and getting on the show, that they eventually won. Mitch skipped his high school graduation, Kevin dropped out of pre-med, and they all put their lives on hold to follow their dream. You can't tell me the universe didn't arrange for these people to find each other, and when Avi left to take a different path, to find the very bright light that is the talented Matt to create the current version of PTX. I believe music heals, and Pentatonix more than most. As for me, I was 25 when Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie were born, but I grew up in NY State as a music geek like they call themselves, just not that talented, lol. I'm an artist and writer and I live in North Carolina, now. Hello to you in Canada!

I have always loved Imagine, of course it came out when I a teenager. Well, dear Matts, you haven't been part of my video life for very long but I enjoy what you do. Most of my career, I worked in universities and worked with grad students. I met and worked with many LGBTQ students, and still close to some of them. One of them was the Speaker of the House for the Congress of Graduate Students where I was the Program Asst. I had met him as an undergrad in Student Government and thrilled when he got into Law School and was voted into th'e speakership. A young lady (when she started and young man when he graduated) worked with me in the office and I met her girlfriend, got to hear about my student's just beginning to go through the transition to male. Heard a lot from her/him about how much acceptance she got from the other students and the exceptions. I believe that humans that can love are fully human where those who don't or can't are broken humans and it hurts to know how much they are missing. I love the attentiveness you show to those who interact online with you. You are a gift and don't you forget it. I subscribe to a bunch of reactors, a new one on about the same time line as you is Nigel Battle. He lost the love of his life less than a year ago, and he reacted to VoicePlay and put a link at the end to the day his fellow died not knowing how to live without him. I know what he is going through, I lost my fellow of 48 years 5 years ago to colon cancer. He was diagnosed in Stage 4 and survived nearly 10 years. I miss him dreadfully but he still drops by and I'll feel his hand on my shoulder, or if I am zoning out, I've seen him sitting in his chair and we talked for 15 or 20 minutes. When I reached for his hand to hold, my hand passed right through his. When he died, I offered to go with him, but he told me no, that I still had too much to do. He would find all the cool places and when it was my turn he would show me it all. By the way, VoicePlay introduced a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" at noon today. It's so poignant. Good to know you are from Canada, you had mentioned you wanted to know where we all are from so... I am a native-born Floridian and lived here all my life, Jacksonville Beach, Cape Canaveral, Gainesville/Newberry and now Quincy, FL near Tallahassee, except for 3 months when I was 4 when my dad took a job rebuilding homes after Hurricane Hazel hit North Carolina. When we were in Newberry I worked at Univ of Florida in Chemical Engineering as a lab tech, and got to take some of my lab equipment to Prince George, BC to compare my lab results in a paper mill with new equipment that was being developed through our work. I was supposed to there in mid October and thought it would be really cold for a Floridian, but it got postponed until early January. I stayed at a bed and breakfast and the owners took me to work every day for a week, picked me, and taught me to drive on snow and ice before letting me get my rental car. Love Canadians. First week was upper 20s, cold but doable, also dark at 3:45 and light at 8:30 am. Come the weekend it was -25 not doable but I had to go out anyway. I thought I was a fish out of water until I met up with an engineer there who was from Barbados. The morning I left to come home, it was -45 degrees. I carried on my suitcase which was empty because I was wearing everything I owned, had to walk across the tarmac to get to the plane. When I landed back in Gainesville, FL it was 100 degrees warmer. I got down and kissed the ground. An experience.

If you like Kevin's singing you should try "Mary Did You Know." It's also another example of how well this group harmonizes. For real Mitch tour de force, you can't beat "The Prayer. " Love your reactions. It's hard NOT to get emotional and be overwhelmed with feelings when you listen to PTX and more so with some of their videos. But they can really make you smile too. Watch "The Grinch."

I am a person who believes as you. I can appreciate your feelings as I too felt this each time I've heard them do this song. When I was a kid, a long time ago, I was before my time and got bullied as well. My strengths lay in things that hadn't even been invented yet when I was growing up. So I was the nerd, I even had the glasses to prove it. I have always been an age of aquarius kind of person. I sometimes think it will take an alien invasion for us all to see we are one race. I've loved this song since the original came out. Great Reaction, Blessings always.

Thank you for this great reaction! I loved your emotional response to this meaningful and beautiful rendition of Imagine. I think that PTX have captured the essence of what John Lennon wrote, especially with the passing of the cards entailing the realities of each person. And of course their voices and harmonies are incomparable.
