Penn State vs. Michigan State 1994 GAME STORY

Спорт

If you love watching the '94 offense, there might not have been a better display of dominance than this game (653 yards of offense), which was fitting, because it was the final game for these Lions to close out the regular season. Penn State couldn't even be slowed down in this one, let alone be stopped. Collins was throwing daggers to Engram and Scott all game while Carter ran wild in the Beaver Stadium pasture. And somehow, even Mike Archie had a career day as the backup tailback. It was offensive fundamentals at it's finest, and every other play seemed to be a highlight for Penn State. That, coupled with the great praise from the commentary later in the game, is why this video is noticeably longer than most of the other games I post. Needless to say, the entertainment value for watching this game is top-notch!
Penn State's Top Performers:
Ki-Jana Carter: 27 carries, 227 yards, 5 TDs
Kerry Collins: 16-24, 289 yards, TD, Int.
Bobby Engram: 8 catches, 169 yards, TD
Freddie Scott: 6 catches, 145 yards, TD
Mike Archie: 5 carries, 36 yards .. 1-1 passing, 55 yards, TD
Penn State capped it's regular season with a perfect record (11-0) and claimed the Big Ten title and a trip to the Rose Bowl in the process. The season was also one of the more dominant seasons of any team in college football history. Michigan State, meanwhile, finished the year 5-6 and did not qualify for a bowl game. The Spartans ended the year 6th in the Big Ten standings.

I came home from an overtime shift at the mill and watched this beauty when it was going on live. Didn't move from the couch. Got dinner after. From Carter to Collins to Nessler to the noise from Happy Valley, man, that was such a great era of the game. No playoff bs. Just football, where every single game was like a playoff.

The two downvotes must be MSU fans. Loved watching the o-line get to the second level and block backers. Also loved the fact that back then, the refs let the players play instead of "targetting", "late hit" etc etc.

Kerry Collins arm strength 💪 was amazing!!! He had a hitch in his throw, but was so accurate and threw such a hard ball, results were usually amazing 👏!!!!

I was at this game, it was amazing. I sat 50 yard line in front of the press box for the first time. Our family’s season tickets were in NJ. I even remember the halftime show, “to go where no Blue Band has gone before, Pasadena.” Great upload.

This game is one of my personal all-time favorites to watch simply because of how flawless the offense operated at such a basic level. It was so good, it was artistic in my eyes! Hope you all enjoy!

Another great memory. My dad and I were the only 2 at this game, sold the other 2 family tickets since it was a rare after Thanksgiving game and I was finally 12 so we were headed straight to hunting camp in Potter Co after the game together for the first time. We debated leaving when it was 52-31 but dad wanted to see Wally lead the offense so we decided to "stay to the end of that drive". Pitched the ball to Carter and that was it, grabbed our seats and headed for the exits in the euphoria. Remember listening to the Penn St network with George and Fran on AM radio in the van on the way to Austin PA from then on and celebrating the "first" time I was there for an undefeated season with my dad. My parents had season tickets since 1978 so by 94 that was the 4th time it happened and that didn't include 82. Crazy to think now, that was the last undefeated season. At that point, 94 had been a drought.

I was at that game. Afterwards my friend and I were walking out and we saw “Press Room”, so in we went. We got to walk around and watch the players and JoePa get interviewed. We didn’t belong there at all and everyone seemed to know it but nobody said anything. 😅

@@arc-lite definitely. I was right up front a few feet away from Paterno doing his after game interview. I was wearing a winter hat with a big white and blue snowball on top. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was with the press. I said “no” and they simply said “can you scooch down a bit”. Nobody asked us to leave. 😅

I think Michigan State would have been better served if they used Scott Greene more than they did. PSU just couldn't seem to control him on defense. None the less, way to go PSU. From a PSU fan.
