Fo the Dog Spring, if you coat the spring in a layer of lube, before installation, it helps the coil spring to stay in place. They when you rotate the bridge assembly, the spring should stay in place. Just a little tip....

Thanks for checking out the video. Not measured, but I'll guess somewhere in the 15 to 20 range.

I appreciate your videos very much. But, I've had problems with this one. I have reassembled this reel several times, and I'm doing something wrong. When I get the right side plate assembled, everything seems to be right. The gears are engaged and the dog is set. But when I reassemble the rest of the reel, the pinion gear doesn't engage with the spool. If I take the right bearing off and screw the left bearing in further, it engages. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for watching and the love, Philip. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it. I'm assuming everything was working fine before you serviced the reel. Sometimes, after full assembly, you need to crank the reel in the retrieve mode to "set" the pinion correctly over the spool.... you can hold on to the spool when you crank the handle in the retrieve setting (don't forget to apply some drag with the star drag)... you should hear a little click when it happens and the spool will start to rotate. If you've done all that.... Before attaching it to the rest of the reel, try completing the right side plate by adding the star drag, handle, etc.... and then, without attaching it to the rest of the reel, test that all the functions work properly.... the crank, the a/r, the freespool (note, when you crank the handle in freespool and retrieve mode, they may sound the same, but you should BE ABLE to crank the handle in both). If something doesn't work correctly, then you've got something amiss, like the drags aren't set properly (or incorrectly), the eccentric is off, the dog is coming out of place, etc. If everything works when you test it, then turn the right side parallel to the ground and add the handle, crank down the star drag enough to be able to turn the spool, and test everything again. If everything works properly in this test, then everything should work when you add the posts and left side plate. If not, see above. Thanks for watching. Insert one end against the dog and then use your fingernail to squeeze the other end down and into the plate. Or, you could take it to your local repair shop and have them reassemble the reel for you.
