This is again correct procedure for a stall. To increase airspeed in order to regain use of the wings, the pilot would put the plane in a dive, then level out once appropriate speed is reached. And note he leveled the plane off instead of trying to climb. Had he pulled up too much and nosed the plane upwards, he would have initiated a second stall - and without altitude to use to regain airspeed, the plane would likely have crashed. Note: this plane did NOT crash! The initiated an emergency landing. Quite well given the parameters too!

Hey Kelsey, I bet when you were doing your commercial pilots licence and having dreams of being in the left seat of a Jumbo, you would never guess that you would, at some time in the future, be narrating the differences between a real life flight and a movie of a twin being flown by flight-less birds. That you took time to do this just shows what a great guy you are! I wonder how many of your flying buddies are taking the piss outta you for doing it? It must be the cause for a bloody good laugh - well done you! I intend to show my grandson this clip as he adores the Penguins. One day I hope to get him into my plane and take a flight with Pop. He is only 5 y/o at the moment but the day is getting closer. Keep up the good work mate; I’m looking forward to some more in-depth analysis on flying Penguins😁🛩🛩🛩

I remember reading of the case of a Canadian bush pilot who had an engine failure. He was able to land the plane safely and radio in about his problem. Another aircraft brought out a spare engine to him. It was installed with only the most basic controls and no connection to the engine monitoring gauges. He took off successfully but having all the gauges sitting at zero bothered him so much he broke the glass in all the gauges and bent the needles to the appropriate angle and flew back to base a much happier pilot. It sounds crazy I know and is perhaps an urban legend. Anybody else remember this story?

There are STILL a couple dozen DC-3s (a competitor to this plane, a Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra) in revenue service. Some of the stories about the punishment a DC-3 could take are hard to believe.

At the time of the video, id been working at the school for about 15 years. We had several of our graduation dances in the room off the lobby of the hotel. Your videos are so informational. I remember I think it was around 1986 I had to fly from Logan Airport to Tampa Florida. There was a hurricane coming in and they were closing the airport. To avoid the turbulence from the hurricane my flight going to Tampa flew out over Ohio and then came down to Tampa. They never turned off the seatbelt sign with good reason. That was one of the bumpiest rides I ever had. It was like going down a rutted dirt road 8n and a old pickup truck with no shock absorbers.
