Yes they are cuattros.. This is a BBC 'whistle test' broadcast from about 1984. We shared the bill with Lou Reed, and recorded this video in the studio at Shepherds Bush. Musicians were Simon Jeffes, composer, leader main man and maestro, guitar 1 and 3, cuattro 2, guitar,Helen Liebermann, cello, (1 and 3) -look at the eye contact, they were a perfect musical match - Geoff Richardson (also Caravan) viola(1, uke 2, violla 3) , Steve Nye keyboard (harmonium - 1, ukelele 2), Marcus Beale (drum -1, violin 3), Gillian dancer, and some large paper herrings recently toured at the Vienna Musikverien. There are also people inspired by them... Spiro isn't bad, it's wrong to say it resembles Penguin Cafe Orchestra, but they're more like what a folk group would be 20 years later in an alternative history where PCO was immensely more influential. And recently, I found this album by The Books, called "Music for a French Elevator", there's a track called "Classy Penguin". Listen to that and tell me it isn't a tribute :)
