    That was really well done. Thanks for taking the time to put that together. Especially putting it back together there were clear images and directions. Had my out cleaning with Dawn Power wash and then was 100% sure when I was putting it back together. I put tinfoil on the top folding 3 sides up and then flat and the right most side fold it under ... ie. where the grease would run.

    Very good video..even though its not the most glamorable process of cooking, it's just 1 of those things that needs to be done. I don't think people realize how important it is to keep their cookers clean! From parts lasting longer to bacteria not being an issue when you eat your food. Clean grill clean cook. Nice work..

    With pellet smokers, it not cleaned it can potentially catch fire and burn up from the inside. And it happens 🔥🚒 . Usually if you see someone complaining their pellet smoker burnt up. It's likely someone who wasn't cleaning it and the mess inside built up and caught fire.

    Thanks! I went out tonite and did another cleaning since the last full cleaning I did was Dec 2017. I started scraping off the black tar like substance and it looks much better too. I will need to remove the chimney though since its bad. Do you have any problems with that stuff building up on youi Daniel Boone? Am I doing something wrong? Also when I get a lot of juices coming from burgers and such on the aluminum drip tray and pan, is it best to remove it right away and start with a frsh tray on the next usage? ...

  • @DGrill

    @DGrill

    5 жыл бұрын

    I change the disposable pan with every cook. The tar build up happens. Not a problem till it's actually blocking something. Or if it fell onto your food 🤣. I just try to keep it cleaned after every cook. I don't go deep in the chimney, but will if I see a need.

    Thank you for this video. So far I have struggled to keep my JB Original operating properly. When you say that you prime your fire box ahead of using the igniter, you are lighting the pellets in the fire box either with a match or hand torch, correct?

  • @DGrill

    @DGrill

    3 жыл бұрын

    *No, I don't light the pellets by hand. Don't do that.* Let the grill light them. I just put a very small amount in. Since the amount the auger adds at first wasn't enough sometimes. But the grill has always worked fine. It was just a suggestion. It was something their support mentioned during a call I had with them when it didn't light properly once. You don't have to do it if you never noticed any initial lighting issues.

    I had issues as well and considered selling my Daniel Boone GNG smoker but after a few phone calls to customer service which was helpful I still have and cook on. I couldn't imagine doing long cooks due to the need to refill pellets because mine seems to go through the pellets fast than I would like. Just learning on the pellet smoker.

    Did my first brisket and did your way and it turned out great and then started to do the shut down and my hopper caught on fire. Now I turn it on and the alarm will not go off. 2 week's old not sold on it. More smoke came out of the lid and oil drain and hopper than the smoke stack. Well I am going to make a fun phone call on Tuesday. Wish me well. Mine came with just a plate as well. They did that for the reason of customer demand and easy clean up . good luck to all and hope this helps some one.

    D Grill... i learned a new trick for cleaning the grease trays on my Daniel Boone GMG. I found a plastic box at Wal-mart (one that is not tall and slides under a bed) that is the right size to lay my grease trays flat. Then I went to our ACE Hardware and purchased some PBW (Powered Brewery Wash)... I guess people use it for cleaning their home brewery equipment. I put the grease trays in the Rubbermaid type plastic container, put in my grease trays, poured in some water and the PBW. Then I let them soak. It cleaned them up REALLY well! Like new. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

    You forgot about the grease ramp where are the grease deflector tray 6 it Slants down register grief down to that ledge and then into the bucket that's got to be clean also the chimney I'm going to take mine off and claim it the Firebox needs to be cleaned and does not need to be primed you're asking for trouble by priming it because if it doesn't light it'll fill up going to fill up with pellets and it will never like you need to let the igniter get hot and then put the pellet Sonic otherwise the auger will feed more pellets in and smother the igniter also the temperature probe for the grill needs to be playing I kind of left side Midway that little stuff that sticks out otherwise you're going to get faulty temperature readings you have to be careful cleaning this stuff we need more information on these probes how delicate are they are they pretty sturdy if they're pretty sturdy that we can play them better and you didn't go into the outside the lid and everything gets smoke Laden is there a chemical is there a chemical we could use on the grill to remove the fire marks burn marks on the bottom of the grill something like oven cleaner or CLR or something I just want to clean it I want it clean

    D Grill I have had it fail that is why I don’t recommend it. I have seen it. If you put too many pellets in it and have it plugged into a GFCI outlet it will trip it. Putting 10 little pellets in it before you put the heat shield back on is no different than NO pellets unless you are sucking too many pellets out of the auger with the vacuum. You are just wasting pellets.

  • @DGrill

    @DGrill

    I am sorry to tell you, that you are wrong on this in my regard. Using no pellets at times causes the auguer to overcompensate and flood the firebox with pellets. Adding a little to prime the firebox works perfectly every time. Waste pellets, really, 10-20 pellets. Can you calculate the cost 😂🤣? Enjoy your way. But you are unable to confirm my way is "wrong", when I have proven the issue with GMG Support. Who confirmed to me the auguer does overcompensate at times. At which point I found priming the firebox works well. So I recommend it. But I would never tell those who don't prime they are "wrong" not to. Enjoy your way. It's your choice.

    The Big Green Egg wins again. Just stir the lump to get the small amount of ash to the bottom, use the ash tool to pull out the ashes, re-light the lump and keep on. cooking.

    Good for you. I hear they make a fan and other accessories, to make the Egg almost as cool as a pellet smoker 🤣👍🏿
