go to one of their concerts and leave your mobile at home... believe me! that's the big difference between the 90s and now... back then we took emotional pictures and carry them in our hearts - not digital photos of events! (not saying your generation is not able to... just saying these damn mobiles are so distracting)

I was born in 93 and one of the first birthday gifts I remember getting was Pearl Jam Ten. From my mother when I was maybe 5 or 6. For years I listened to that album in my room. The bar was set so high so early that music these days just doesn’t do a thing for me. These songs connected. Even as a child I could sit fully immersed in these songs and visualize every word and feel every emotion that I’d hardly had a chance to even experience in my own life yet. But I could feel it like I had been there before. I find it sad growing older that my expectations for music were set so high that I took these songs for granted, and have only been let down by 90% of the crap I’ve heard in my 30 years. Forever searching for this or awaiting it’s return.

i live my whole life in western washington . this album broke during my first love, first car, and junior/senior yrs of high school. played this song in my senior english class. teacher was huge music buff and had us pick a song to share with class. honestly, i don’t remember what Mr. Hawk said or thought about the song. i do remember having to print out the lyrics and hand them out to the class so all could follow the song. my mom had him in high school too. her and the party crowd would hang out with him back in the 70s and smoke pot and chill. 🤣

Eddie Vedder is originally from Evanstan, Illinois Chicago. So close to home for me. "I know some people have a beautiful life" is such a true line. Eddie is very talented with his voice and guitar 🎸. Glad they've made it into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Congratulations Pearl Jam.

You go back and see Eddie perform this song back in 2000 and it was, and always will be, amazing. But then fast forward 17 years to when Chris died and see Eddie perform the song again in tribute to him. Still beautiful, but now haunting, and rightly so. Thank you Eddie for this gift to all us, and God Speed Chris, we love you, and we miss you.

J'ecoute "Black" ce soir, je l'aurai en en tête demain et après. Signe pour moi qu'il s'agit d'une oeuvre majeure : elle résonne avec un son que j'avais déjà en moi. Et qu'Eddie est beau, sous tous les angles, si beau! Un tel charisme! Une voix incroyable, une des plus belles voix du rock, prenante, puissante, émouvante. Des paroles à fendre le coeur, un chagrin énorme qui finit par un souhait de bonheur pour elle, celle qui a rompu. Chef d'oeuvre complet, musical et humain. Merci, Eddie.

Agreed. He is very good looking and l love the unusual cadence he speaks with. He keeps his lips tense when he speaks.

I happen to love long hair on sexy men, (so yummy), but his face pretty much looks the same. And he's still aging like fine wine even today. :-)

EXACTLY. I sat there and just watched as my wife burned our 14 year marriage to the ground. 6 months later I wish with everything that I have in my soul I would have done Something, made ONE last ditch effort to stop her. It wouldn't have worked but at least maybe I could sleep at night knowing that I TRIED SOMETHING, ANYTHING.

I grew up on this music I'll be 40 years old in February. Thinking back if I had a penny for every time I listen to this I'd be a millionaire. It never gets old and he'll always be a hunk

I first heard this song when I was 3. I'm now 68. It never gets old. Agreed like fine wine.

Being an 70/80's rocker i felt my ship was drifting as metal gave into commercialism (ie;Creed,etc) and the new "Grunge." HA! But then I tuned into Nirvana, PJ, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains etc and it blew my doors! Music truly moves the soul!

You saved my life last week when my world was turned to Black for 5 days because I was spinning. This is all I sang and thought of your beauty on that stage to keep me from going insane. But it wasn't the same as hearing your voice. They wouldn't let me hear your voice. So as soon as I was cut loose I watched this and cried. I finally heard your voice and saw your beauty again. Thank you Eddie. I love you.
