Another solid video very informative! Question about sugar day before the show and show day. Should I be concern about it or it's not so important for peaking correctly?

Thanks again! I stick to foods the client is used to, with minimal modifications based on what I feel they need--either to get fuller or tighter. Everyone is too genetically and contextually unique to have just one set of recipe/protocol/rules. If I use any sugar at all, it's pre-pump up.

Hi. Thank you for great vids☺️👌! I am starting my peak week tomorrow. I am pretty lean and conditioned, which is a good starting point for carb up. This is my third show this season. For my previous two shows, we were adding 10g of carbs per day and I still came up the “smallest” in the line on the stage. Judges always say that I need to come back fuller. My question would be: is adding 10g of carbs daily in the peak week not too little? Is there any minimum amount of carbs that will actually show some changes? If I wanted to take a bit more aggressive approach, how much more I could increase my daily carbs intake to not spill over? This show is the most important to me. I looked good on my first show, but in my second show I was a bit afraid to play around with carbs, I got leaner and looked very skinny at the show😔. I don’t want to make the same mistake this time. Please help. Thank you!

Hi, Iwona! 10 g of carbs is a tiny, tiny amount. Depending on your metabolism, body comp, and the response as you move through the week, you probably need more. It wouldn't be uncommon for me to move people up 25 g a day, or even 50 grams, but not necessarily every day. They might only need 2-3 increases through peak week. I assess every day through photos and their weight to determine what their body is doing with the carbs. Good look at the show!

how much water should one drink during carb loading, one day before show?

Any amount you drink will be eliminated by morning, unless you're consuming too much carb. Remember that it takes up to 48 hours to fully assimilate glycogen, but for the sake of argument, let's go with the low side of 24 hours. Everything you eat the day prior is just going to sustain the direction of calorie surplus or calorie deficit--or maintenance. If you're still trying to increase glycogen, it's risky because of spillover. All the more reason to be incremental and progressive, not a rapid backload. But, if you're an ecto and really need to roll the dice on substantially more carbs--again, just an example to the extreme to make the point--then you need water to follow the glucose into the muscle. If no water, no fullness...just flat, spilled-over, squishy muscle tissue. It's having the right amount of carbs, then water can and should be virtually unlimited.
