Thank you for posting, I used a micro fiber 3/8 nap (washed before using) with Behr poly... all I could find in my area. I followed your directions. Came out great. Wife didnt think I could do it, but I did and won dinner, beer and a knobber.

What finish did you use

I know it's been awhile, but I was wondering how the waterproofing of this product holds up. We are debating using it in our kitchen and in areas of the home that are high traffic but also may have water issues (snow tracked into the area and things of that nature.)

Get the high traffic stuff or consider Oil if you don’t mind it being an amber tint instead of clear. It has been tested and the oil based old up slightly better. Either way 2-3 coats should hold up for 8-10 years

What polyurethane do you recommend?

Thinking about skipping sanding in between coats considering how the first coat soaked into the floor. What are your thoughts?

Is that a high gloss? Looks very shiny for water based

Can a roller be used for oil based poly?

Bona has one that can be rolled. You can’t roll Duraseal.

My Varathane, no-odor, matte-finish water based poly says not to use a roller. Can I still use a roller ?

profwaldo I would say no. They probably don’t use an anti foaming agent and the roller will cause bubbles.

Tyler Bradshaw 3/8 nap. You can use a Wooster or Purdy as long as it does not shed.

3/8 nap Bona. you can use a good Purdy from Lowe’s. 3/8 non shedding
