Thanks for this review. I thought only Peak Design made compression packing cubes so I was blown away when you showed the ones from Gonex. Instantly saved to my shopping list. I'll probably get only the Tech Pouch and Wash Pouch from Peak Design, and possibly this bag or the Travel Backpack

Oh yeah, there are quite a few companies that makes compression cubes. I'm suprised how much I like these Gonex ones, they're cheap and work really well. Watch my video on the Peak Design accessories if you want more info on how those things work. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l5-ExNNyprrWgtY.html

Thanks! Same, great bag, bad straps. They're actually good straps, just not good for a backpack 👍

I know that this video is a few years old, but wondering if you still feel the same way about this bag. I am looking for a duffel good for a long weekend/2-3 day trip. I tried the Pakt Anywhere 25L and it was too small and the Pakt One 35L is a bit outside my budget and not sure how well it would carry if I only packed for an overnight trip. I also tried the Osprey Arcane 30L which still seems a bit small. Have you looked at the Away F.A.R. 40L? All of these bags have clean designs which is what I am looking for. This will also likely become my carry-on for longer trips when I have a second, larger bag. The Peak Design might be what I need, but open to suggestions.

I haven't looked at the Away FAR, but it looks solid, simple, reasonably priced. I like the PD duffel as long as you're not trying to carry it like a backpack. It's very high quality, well made, great materials.

If you intend to carry a laptop, go with the bellroy weekender since this duffle has no tech organization

It would be good to see a review where someone uses it for a year or two then tells us how they went with the bag. A brand new bag review doesn't tell us much about how it actually functions and wears.

  • @OneBagTravels

True, but we're limited by the number of bags we can test. I review the bags I've used for years, as well as ones I've only had for a few weeks. I test them as much as I can and depending on the bag and how long I've had it, I will take it on flights or at least weekend trips. I wish I could test them all for 1+ years, but there's just too many bags and too little time 😀

@@OneBagTravels true. I have heard though with these bags that the coating wears off after use and looks a bit ordinary as well as letting water through. It's the reason I shied away from it because initially I thought I would get one. That's why I would love to hear whether that wear really is the case or not

Looks as if this bag is not a good choice if you really want to carry it both as a backpack and a duffle. The shoulder straps look like an afterthought and just to have it. I think you can pack a lot into the bag, and then the padding of the single shoulder also looks a bit thin. It lacks a bit in these details. Otherwise, a great duffle.

My thoughts exactly. Bag is great, well-made with large capacity. Shoulder strap is decent but a bit thin, backpack straps are an afterthought and not very comfortable.
