PEAK Design 20L Zip Backpack - 7 Likes and Dislikes
The "Like and Dislike" Review series is meant to dive deep and give perspectives of an actual user, rather than simply repeat a spec sheet or website. Some points are personal and bias, and that's ok! Every piece of gear should be purchased with YOUR needs in mind. The goal is for more mindful purchases.
That being said, this is my current go-to EDC backpack
In this video, I review the things I like and dislike, from an actual reviews best and worst features.

Your first point about the bulkiness between the pack versions is backwards. The mag latch version is a 17L min , 20 Max pack while the zip is 20L all the time. Interesting point about the mag pockets and them not being able to close with larger items.

Hi thanks for the comment, always love some tech comments. My point with the Matlach version adding bulkiness without value still stands. 17l min and 20l max gets me the same volume as the zip pack, yet it adds extra fabric from the flap, extra weight form the metal mag latch system, and also I just really never enjoyed using the mag latch. It was never quicker or more secure than a zipper. Always felt a little gimmicky.

Hi, any new likes or dislikes after 2 years of use? I am concerned about it’s wide profile. Typically duffels are round in profile which makes them easy to carry but this one from Peak design is very wide, isn’t it?

Hey, do you mean wide like shoulder to shoulder? Or wide like it protrudes from your back too far? I don't think its too wide shoulder to shoulder. It feels comfortable. However, it's very rigid since its designed to protect a camera, so it can kinda have that "turtleshell" look, since it doesnt' collapse flat against your back. I actually got rid of it a little while ago because I don't travel with a camera, so it was a bit heavier than I wanted. If you dont use it for a camera, I found packing it a bit annoying because of the compartments. like If I wanted to access the whole thing, you have to fiddle with the velcro dividers.

@@EDG I mean the base of the bag is wide comparing to ordinary duffels. It’s good point about cameras. Probably this bag isn’t that good for anyone who is not going to carry tech in it.

@@edsheddy4369 Yea, I think there are better (and less expensive) bags out there if you're just looking for an everyday bag.
