I absolutely love your vibe it's hard to find army wives who are very humble and just mellow and level headed! Hope the rest of your stay goes swell

Not sure why this lady has such an attitude about living on post, but we were career army and lived on post every chance we got and shopped the PX/commissary every chance we got. It was waaaay cheaper, for one thing. We lived in Vilseck (on post) for three years in the '50's and LOVED it. Rode our bikes everywhere, picking berries for Mom's pies, fishing the lakes and streams for trout dinners, hunting with my Dad for pheasant and quail or boar and deer. The German people were so nice to us. We had a ball, loved it, despite no walk in closets, and we had to use transformers - no 110v sockets to be found. Poor us... LOL! It snowed like crazy in winter and we had a great sledding hill up behind the old commandant's quarters (big white house - probably long gone now). The ACE made us an ice skating pond down in the swampy area next to the Officer's Club every year. Did I mention the huge coal/wood burning boiler downstairs that had to be fed or the free standing coal/wood burning heaters in our bedrooms or the coal/wood burning cast iron stove/double oven my Mom cooked all our meals on. It was HUGE and made the best bread and pies ever. Also made the kitchen nice and toasty on frozen mornings. We lived some awesome places, but, for us... Vilseck still takes first prize, even after all these years.

This made me miss Vilseck. We lived in the 2 bedroom version of this. We had no kids and it was plenty of room. I do agree with investing in lamps!

I lived there in the mid 90s as an army brat. I feel so old saying that when it doesn’t seem long ago. Those houses are the same 😂

Get yourself one of those cars that you can set to warm up 10 minutes before you get into it.

Cool video.I never was stationed in VIlsek but we guys from the Schweufurt area practically lived in the field there in Graf. :). However, I usually visit Vildek & Graf at least twice a year or every time I visit Germany from the States. Folks" Americans" that are living there n Germany as we speak, make sure that you enjoy your time there as much as possible. Time flies and make sure that you travel, travel, travel. You will thank me later. :)

Yeah being out in the town paying rent is not what you want. You can always drive off post to shop LOL...Keep in mind there are different style housing on Post. This is just one version. Bedrooms are typicaly the same, just down stairs will be different and some have basements, attics and garages.

Depends on your rank, number of dependents, which house you get, and whether you’re on/off base. For this spouse, no, they didn’t take all of their BAH, but you don’t get to pocket the remainder of the money.
