Gaming in the 90s - PC Edition
PC gaming has come a long way since the 90s. The internet is faster, the storage capacity is bigger, but as far as we're concerned, nothing beats that nostalgic feeling of rushing home after a long day at school to finally get past that boss stage you couldn't beat the day before, and celebrating with an ice-cold Caprisun. So take a trip nostalgia trip back to the days of classic PC video games like Doom, Wolfenstein, and Monkey Island. To the early days of computers with floppy disks and loud modems, and trying to sneak in a few more games before bedtime.

Damn this was so accurate, from trying to muffle the 56k modem at 12am to watching your cousin play Settlers on his new Amiga on Christmas morning while you stand around awkwardly. We didn’t all talk and dress like Bill and Ted though. It was more grunge, especially by 1995. I doubt parents today would want to ban their kids from playing when streamers probably make more money than they do.

My parents external modem had a volume knob but the big problem was the hard drive on my parents PC was loud so just booting Windows would make a lot of noise. When I got a Dreamcast it was a godsent because it was quiet so I could serf the Internet and play Phantasy Star Online after midnight without waking anyone up.

PC gaming in the 90s for me consisted of playing DOOM on the demo pcs at Sam's Club, desperately begging my parents for a computer, and then getting a Sega 32x and that version of Doom. To quote Ferris, "How's that for being born under a bad sign?"
