It's not because they want to, it's because they have to. And the PC-12 and PC-24 are both perfect for the job the RFDS does.

@@endwood true, but in alot of areas this thing goes, there aint even a runway, and the raw uncut dirt and ground is known for being vehicle killers. for it to handle the abuse the terrain puts on em is pretty impressive

One of my dreams is to be a pilot for the RFDS when I get my CPL. It would be an amazing experience knowing what you do for a living saves lives.

brother nation? erm, not so much, no.

Admirable, but I wonder what level of critical care and level of insurance warrants this level of service. Does it take trauma of a child or a heart transplant to reach admission to this level of care and who pays for it? It's got to cost 50-100k USD. Unless one has evac insurance, I can't fathom how government services will pay for the average person's transport.

The government enables economic development and access to resources by funding an aeromedical service to remote and frontier regions of the outback. This encourages the population to take their skills to critical industries in the form of mines, livestock stations and ecological and cultural tourism sites, knowing that the RFDS has their back when they are needed.

I’ve found the American in the comments. USA - the only developed 3rd world nation, easily identifiable by its lack of healthcare for its citizens.

Very flash presentation BUT this jet is only now being realised that's it's very limiting in what it can do! All the hype has hidden it's limitations and it's not the magic bullet the boffins first thought would be the answer to extended range retrievals!
