I didn't really go in-depth on using the PB-3000 in PORTED and SEALED mode, as I feel most who buy a ported subwoofer are going to use it as a ported subwoofer. I run dual PB2000 Pros in my 23'x12'x8' room and listen at around -7dB from reference... and I think my room would give up before those subs would. It was good to hear a direct comparison to the PB3000. Good stuff!

Hey. Has your home theater room been finished? Curious what you think of these subs. I have dual pb1k from my old smaller house but our room is much bigger now and they can’t keep up. Been eyeing up the pb3k and pb16. Price is the biggest issue though.

My current receiver just can't handle 4ohm speakers at all, so I need to upgrade that first before checking them out (my AVR is older and doesn't offer preamp connections, sadly haha).

I knew the PB-3000s would pressurize your room easily as my room is a bit bigger at 18’ x 15’ x 9’ and I get plenty of tactile feedback. Furthermore, I was a bit concerned with using ported subs as I do watch a lot of concert videos, but the SVS did a great job with the design as these subs are quite musical in port mode. The only complaint I have is using them with old recordings such as Van Halen’s Live Without A Net. The boomy auditorium comes into play significantly when comparing the production to more modern multichannel concert videos. While I do not game with the PB-3000s, my son was quite impressed with their performance. Tuning them to a lifelike reproduction of a WWII tank’s droning diesel as well as exploding mortars was exhilarating. I did attempt to use the SVS app to tune each SW, but prefer the miniDSP 2x4HD with MSO filtering. Setting a low shelf was the icing on the cake. I love these PB-3000s.

I’m really upset with this review. I bought two pb3000s and this review was a major reason. They have been installed for about 24hrs and the cops have been here five times already. You never said this would happen. ;) Thank you so much! This review was a reason I bought these and you nailed it. I came from dual pb1000s which I know is a major upgrade but holy hell is this awesome. Everything you said is spot on and I hope others are able to afford/enjoy these subs.

🤣🤣🤣 Brad read this to me and I literally lol'd. So glad you love them. Another downside is if you go over to a friend or family member's house to watch anything and they don't have these or *gasp* use the speakers in their tv for sound (I know too many people who do this) it's just going to ruin your viewing experience.

Awesome video! Did you notice a louder noise floor when idle on the PB-3000s compared to the PB-2000 pros?

Always watching your videos and learning more everyday. I'm currently using the denon x2700h reciever with the polk t series plus a svs pb 2000 pro. Just got the subwoofer a month ago and I'm enjoying it so much that I'm actually thinking about going dual. With the polk t series speakers I have would you advise me to go dual svs pb 2000 pro or dual svs pb 3000?

Hi there was a good question in the comments that you have not replied to has the pb3000 got a higher noise floor than the pb2000 pro when idle?

Great review. I’m thinking of buying the the SVS PB3000. I’m also considering the RSL 12S. Do any opinions on witch one you Would recommend. I will eventually go with 2. My room is 22 by 8 with 9 foot ceiling. Thanks for any advice and help.

I love the sound of sealed subs but svss ported subs go so friggin low, i dont think i could ever purchase a sb over a pb at least frlm svs. Theyre ported subs are nuts!

PB3000 is a great subwoofer. As usual with SVS, fit, finish, quality, features and customer service is excellent. I ran 2 of these in my room for a bit before swapping them out for dual HSU vtf-3 mk5. The PB3k setup was great but wasn't giving me what I wanted in room. The HSU's were a significant improvement in my application (although the PB3K's did slightly outperform at the very lowest frequencies). My room is weird though with vaulted ceiling so ymmv

Interesting! I have dual VTF3-MK5’s now and thought of trying the PB3000’s. Looks like they go slightly deeper and have a more powerful amp. Can you explain a little further? Thanks!

@@byronquinley1400 I simply get more tangible bass output from the HSU's in my room. Probably due to the larger woofers of the HSU's doing a better job of moving air through my room. Again, I have a tall vaulted ceiling that can cause trouble for subs. I ran several back to back tests using my ears, what I felt, and REW measurements - the HSU's outperformed with exception of slight nod to the PB3K's in the sub 20 hz range. If you're looking for more than you're getting from the VTF3-MK5’s, I would not recommend going to smaller woofers like the PB3K's. Go with more powerful 15's (like PSA, Rythmik), SVS PB16's, or step up to 18's. That said, SVS has an amazing return policy so you could always try out the PB3K's and compare for yourself. Post up if you do!

Pb 3000 vs sb 3000 which do you like better?

I think, as far as SVS goes, dual 1000 Pros is their best value. That said, if I was doing a build today, it would not be SVS I would look at. I would look at Monoprice THX series and Tonewinner. Still love my 1000 Pros, but I paid $599 ea. That is not the case anymore.

Would love to know how this matches up against Monoprice Monolith THX 15" subwoofer.

Monolith is better. Youthman did a comparison. With the larger driver, the svs can't output as much as the Monolith.

I have 2 pb300 in my theater room and one monolith thx 15 and I played with them 1 vs 1 and the monolith has a bigger driver and more rms so you already know the monolith is better. I'm actually going to get one more 15 use both them in my theater set up and put one svs in the living room and one on mercari for sale lol

SB 3000 pro vs the pb 2000 pro for mostly theater usage ?

I have owned SB3000 for several years and just got pair of PB-2000 pro. The PB-2000 are far better than sealed 3000. Don't get me wrong, I think the SB-3000 are awesome, especially for music. The mid bass in SB3000 is awesome, kicks hard in mid bass of movies, even better than the PB-2000. But I still think the PB-2000 are better, even for music which I didn't expect and especially for movies. The bass is fuller, smoother and "Deeper" is best way to explain it. You also get way more low end kick on portered sub. I'm hearing bass notes I haven't heard ever since I went Sealed 3 years ago. But if you have the room and can afford them, go with PB-3000. Even as good as they are, I'm sending my PB-2000 back and just ordered PB-3000. When I listen to them at close to reference levels it seems like PB-2000 Pro just run out of steam and 3000 would take care of that, not to mention the extra impact that will hit you like mule kick that 2000 pro is just lacking a little.

@@ericvaughan11 Thx. Was indecisive about going 2 sb-3000s vs 2 Pb-3000s. I know the Sb-3000s have the small form factor I like, but I feel I would be left just wanting a bit more. Especially since I still have the ability to plug the PB-3000s ports if I decided to. Ultimately I probably would fall in love with the ported sound as you described. Pb-3000s would be my max threshold subwoofer as they are only 85lbs and slightly larger than pb-2000 pros. Would love to hear how you like the pb-3000s when you get them since you will of owned all the subs I've been researching.

@@Professor5180 I just got my PB-3000 two days ago and finally got a chance to set them up with really nice House Curve on my Mini DSP, which I learned how to use from watching your channel, So THANK YOU!! That is best thing since sliced bread, even in my difficult room I was able to get nice flat response with about 10 dB HC. Now the PB-3000 really came alive and I have never heard this much low deep bass, that is still tight and articulate when it should be. When watching a movie like in the beginning of Blade Runner 2049, or any movie with that low frequency extension my whole house shakes like it might come off the foundation. Almost scared me a first because I never heard anything like that before. But with PB-3000 I don't think it was breaking a sweat and that is difference between the 3000 series and 2000. Like you said they are not much bigger and only 17 lbs heavier so I would suggest to anyone to go with the 3000 if you can possibly afford it. I know now I will never have to upgrade my Sub's again unless I sell my house and get much bigger Home Theater room which I will most likely never do. I'm really surprised also at how good they sound with music, because I loved my SB's for music. But since these now are setup for my room I think they sound just as good if not better. I don't feel like I lost anything only gained little deeper bass that I didn't have before. Put four of these in your room if you can fit them and you won't believe what they will do, or even just a pair if you only running dual. Thanks and I look forward to more of you video's since I'm a subscriber.

i own pb 3000 and am very satisfy... the question is my friend want to sell me pb 2000 for very good prize , it will make sense to go dual sub : pb 3000 and pb 2000? Or its not good to mix them and quality will be same like alone pb 3000... thank you so much :)

ngl, the scenes where u see the sub and have the sound on, i know that many mics cant pick up base but even the sub movement etc. It looked like theres absolutetly nothing happening.

Amazing how expensive they are. I got 2 x the monolith 16 thx ultra for $1,699 each on sale. Best decision ever.

That’s definitely a killer deal. It’s not really a fair comparison seeing as the Monolith’s retail currently for $2,299. Totally different price and performance bracket as well. The SVS PB-3000 isn’t really all that much more than the comparative Monolith 13in THX Ultra for $1,699. I personally never have and never will factor in possible future sale prices of items for a review video. That’s just asking for trouble.

You must be a shill. The demo scenes you played sounded horrible while I watched this on my phone. Seems like the PB-3000 is overrated. Enjoy the piles of money SVS is obviously paying you. Seriously though, thanks for the quality review. If you keep the 3000s, would you eventually plan to buy more, or would you stick with 2?

In regards to keeping the 3000s, the dual setup sounds fantastic, but I’ve gotten so used to the tactility provided by having near-field subs that I couldn’t go back. I’ll eventually upgrade those near-fields down the road to match the 3000s.

Find is puzzling people compliment the fit and finish. The design still has the speaker mount screws etc visible, looks cheap to me.

Different tastes. I don't find them cheap looking, but in all honesty I never leave the grill off so the woofer is behind that and can't really be seen.

Imagine paying $1800 for a subwoofer and have it called “middle” 😂😂😂

Haha. I mean technically it’s SVS’s middle subwoofer offering in their whole subwoofer product stack, so it is in fact “middle” lol.
