SVS PB-4000 Unboxing + FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Woah, this is HEAVY!

#svsound #hometheater #hometheatergamer
In this video, I unbox and give my general first impressions of SVS's PB-4000 subwoofers. These things are definitely heavy (something Doc Brown would certainly agree with, nothing wrong with the Earth's gravitational pull here). They also do absolutely ROCK in extended mode, which I'll talk briefly about. Be sure to check out the full review on teh channel coming soon!

Brad, That's an awesome beast of a subwoofer! The SVS PB4000 Pro should come with a warning label or a legal waver of harm to your home. Hahaha! As much as I enjoy my SVS PB1000 Pro a second one would be great someday. Have fun with the 4000! All the best, Kevin

Thanks Kevin! I love my PB-1000 Pro, and I still have the PB-2000 Pros that are the mainstay in my system (since I wasn't able to keep the PB-3000s like I wanted).

Enjoyed the video! I have had a PB16-Ultra for a few years now. I used a single isolation kit (4 feet) and haven’t had any issues. 😊

Great. Probably no problems, but at the price of the 16's I'd go with what their engineers intended-- 6 feet. Who knows, something weird could happen with the driver mounting a few more years down the road because of improper cabinet support. Sure maybe not so likely but if you can afford a PB16 (better 2) I think you might want to spring for the recommended kit.

You'd probably be just fine with 4 as long as you never need to move the sub. Just keep in mind that the isolation feet aren't designed to have any weight put on them at an angle, so if you need to move the sub at all and they twist a little bit (or you tilt the sub on it's side slowly), you do run the risk of the rubber and metal part on the isolation feet separating and ripping off.

I almost always end up adding a light-dimming clear red tape over almost anything that has light to keep my HT room dark, but I can still (just) see the display if needed.

That's a really great idea! Since these aren't mine and are on loan from SVS, I wouldn't want to do that, but that is a FANTASTIC idea for the stuff I personally own. Thanks!

@@HomeTheaterGamer I sat in my HT room in the dark, no projector, no lights, just all the equipment on. After 10 minutes of my eyes adjusting to "the dark", I was amazed at how bright the room was - I could see almost everything - This is what prompted be to either block unimportant things or red-mask things I needed to see. - Big improvement!

Question, I currently have 2 SVS PB1000Pros, in a small bedroom. At some point, I plan on buying 2 more subs, thinking of the PB3000's or SB3000's? The dual 1000's aren't providing that slam in your chest/gut bass I'm looking for. We will probably move next year so my next theater room will be yet another bedroom turned into cinema room. How do you think the combination of the 1000's and 3000's would sound?

Great video Brad. I have 3 pb2000 in my 18’x11’ room. I’m debating x3 pb3000 or x2 pb4000. Is the jump from 2000s to 3000s a significant difference in power felt? Thanks!

I think once we use 3000 we can stop there. I don’t think any meaningful upgrade after 3000 in svs lineup unless it is 16 ultra. Just my opinion

You'll get much better output (deeper frequency extension) with the PB4000s in "Extended" mode. They're a big jump over the 3000s in this regard (107dB down to 16hz vs 96dB of the PB3000). Respectfully disagree with this other user's misguided opinion.

I Luv my Duel PB4000'S!!! I felt like I was giving birth when I pushed them out with my legs!!😂 My neighbor across the street says he knows when I'm watching a movie because he hears the rumblings of a thunder storm coming!!! Ed Mullen from SVS suggested aa a demo of sub-sonic bass the movie, "Flight of the Phoenix "(2004 on blu-ray) the air plane crash and oh boy, he wasn't kidding! AMAZING! I still have my PB2000'S one in my gameroom and one in the master bedroom, so much fun!!! I do wish that the mini dsp came with XLR in and outs.. if it does, could you direct me to where to buy one...Thanks Brad and Keep Crushing It Bro!!

  • @HomeTheaterGamer

    @HomeTheaterGamer

    Жыл бұрын

Thanks for the comment and kind words! Ed Mullen is a super nice guy and has been incredibly informative over the years and has helped me tremendously, even indirectly (I've read lots of his posts over on AVSForum through the years). I was actually on the SVS Audiophile Happy Hour last week as a guest and he was on, so it was incredible to be able to thank him personally for what he's done over the years in terms of my understanding of stuff in this crazy hobby haha. And man... I have not thought about that scene in Flight of the Phoenix in YEARS. Might be time to put it back in rotation. I remember it having some pretty insane LFE! The PB4000s are definitely beasts. I just hooked up the PB3000s in the back of the room and holy cow... headroom for days with that combo! In regards to XLR on a miniDSP, unfortunately they no longer make any products with XLR connections (I believe they used to), so TRS to XLR cable adapters are really the only option if you go the miniDSP route. There may other options available from other brands like Behringer, but I'm honestly not too familiar with what they offer these days.

@@HomeTheaterGamer for that exact reason, its in a weird spot. To be honest, SVS needs a new 18 or 21 inch sub to enter the market. the 16 inch pb16 came out in late 2016. 7 years later now, we need an 18 or 21 from them.
