You should make them watch you donate it all to charity, while telling them how bad they are at scamming. End it with a promise to check in on them again in the future with a different voice, make them paranoid and fill them with self doubt about their abilities as criminals.

I've worked in retail for a very long time, sob stories are a very, very, very common tactic people try to employ when they are trying to scam you. It sucks because it just makes you so jaded that when someone has a real issue, they're guilty until proven innocent automatically in your mind. Very difficult to separate yourself from that line of thinking once it becomes ingrained.

I do a pretty good Jimmy Stewart voice, usually ramble on about having gout and how sometimes my feet hurt so bad instead of getting up to pee I just piss on the floor.
