failed the test today! I ended up delivering 17 pizzas for $3.75--no extra tip! I took a $9.50 stacked order of 3.5 miles and two restaurants that are right next to each other. One of the orders was for 17 items at a pizza place and the other was for a single burger. I assumed the burger would be a small payout (with a short drive) but that there must be a decent hidden tip for 17 pizzas. I collected the burger and 17 pizza boxes and went on my way. I dropped off the burger for $5.75. I figured that the remaining $3.75 couldn't only be that for 17 pizzas. I was sent to a road construction crew and gave them the pizzas. When I confirmed delivery, I got the popup saying $3.75 and ZERO tip. Oh well, I still made $9.5 for short miles but still....no tip for 17 pizzas wow. I guess you can't trust the large number of items to always be an indicator.

I've watched a lot of videos on this subject. They were of little value to absolutely worthless. I applied today what I learned here and it worked very well for me. I was doing hidden tip orders all day long. When an $8.25 order goes to $15, I go beyond happy to ecstatic. 😁 This video has changed the way I look at offers and made me more confident in what I accept. Thank you so very much for this.

What I look for is large orders from higher end restaurants and an offer between $1.50-$2/mile, adjust those numbers up a little if there's any peak pay. Seems like that gives me the best chance of getting a hidden tip.

Hey Sara! I don't think I've seen a hidden tip from many fast food chains on DoorDash. And with higher scale restaurants and pizza joints, I see them a lot! Especially when the order is $10+. It's almost guaranteed to be more than that. Great video and tips! 👍

I've tested this out (hidden tips) and have found on orders over 3 miles if the payment shown is within 1.8 to 2.2 of the mileage shown, there's going to be a hidden tip. On oders under 3.0 miles, the ratio is less reliable. On these, I generally will go by if the amount shown is $6+ and the subtotal and resturant are good. This scenario kind of doesn't matter to much bcuz $6 for a mile or 2 would usually be an accepted order anyway.

I just started dashing last week, still waiting on my red bag. Hopefully when I get it I’ll get more restaurants than fast food places. I’ve gotten hidden tips every time from supermarkets. So, I started parking in the supermarket parking lot as it’s right in the busy area and it gives me the best tips.

Also they hide tips above $4. So if base in your area is $2.50 and the offer is $6.50 that’s at least $4 tip anything above that could be hidden including those other factors you mentioned. Also looking at the subtotal helps sometimes.

Plus add in any peak pay. On orders 3 miles or less base pay + peak pay + $4 means a possible hidden tip.

One thing I can recommend, make black list from those costumers which they don't tip and you see their name if you can cancel and the 2nd, if order comes from rich neighborhood chances are you might get more tip even if order comes from fast food.

I gave you a thumbs up however explain to me why DD hides a quarter or sometime even $0.75???? It really makes no sense. I'm up in Spring Hill and if I only took 2.00 a mile orders I would hardly make anything in one day. I know gas ⛽ prices have went up but I still try to take anything that is $1.00 a mile or better with a $5.00 minimum.

I'm still trying to figure out where the miles vs displayed pay increase above $6.25 is. It's somewhere between 3 and 4 miles. I have noticed that there will never be a hidden tip if the displayed pay upon acceptance is not in a $.25 increment. For instance 3.4 miles for $6.92 means no hidden tip while $6.25 or $6.50 for 3.4 miles means hidden tip possible.

Yeah no names, addresses or items until accepting where I am too. Actually, I'm lying Walmart shows number of items but not speffics. I've never been able to see a customer's total or sub total. I think I saw a comment mention that. I am glad I stumbled across this. I was googling to find out what exactly the miles in the offer cover. Is it my location to restaurant to customer? Or is it just restaurant to customer? Instacart does that n it's so stupid.

  • @parkercummings3523

@@amybloom3665 From what I can tell the miles include where you are at the time of receiving the offer to restaurant to customer.

The thing I’ve seen is it’s a mixed bag when it comes to hidden tip. Like the one order I had a pet smart order that showed $10 for 10 miles about 7 times that turned into a hidden tip. But then I’ve also gotten skunked on a Red lobster order and was only paid the base pay. No cash tip upon arrival. The order was over $100. The best I can say is look at the miles and pay. Dead giveaway is usually the $6.5 and about 2 miles. That’s what I’ve gotten to say yep hidden tip. I’ve gotten a hidden tip orders on McDonalds order but it was a catering type and couldn’t believe it a Taco Bell order but that was abit of a drive but was a small amount of food. Usually big catering type orders are hidden tips if you can do catering orders for DD.

Nice hair. I don't try to hard to try and guess if there is a hidden tip. If it fits my algorithm then I will do the trip. If there is extra then so be it.

No they do hidden tips to basically trick you I got two catering orders in one day so a third order came in for $6.50 for 9 miles.Normally I would never take this but it had nine items on it and it was a really nice restaurant when I got there it was a huge order so I figured OK there’s gotta be a hidden tip for all this food and the mileage too right??sure enough after I completed the order showed zero dollars absolutely no tip and the guy literally had to spend almost if not more than $100 on that amount of food it was for his whole family with two drinks. I really couldn’t believe somebody would be that big of an asshole to not leave a tip at all not even a dollar.I definitely should’ve just stuck to cherry picking like I always do.I did predict that there was a lot of food but just because people order a lot of food doesn’t mean they’re gonna tip
