Majority of Americans can never admit that a guy from the U.K. did it better 🤷‍♂️ They just shit on our music whilst taking influences from it and using our beats 🤣 Like pop smoke being influenced by abra, pop said it himself in an interview with Semtex and yet the majority of people will not accept it as true. Or how drakes style is identical to dappy who was doing it a decade before him.

I understand where it comes from, but it comes off like American validation lives rent free in your head when y'all say things thing like this. The UK deserves way more credit. I get it. But feeling the need to comment about it unprovoked starts sounding like a Napoleon Complex; Especially when it's obvious those aren't MY sentiments. You don't know 51% of the 300+ million people in America to claim a "majority" has any stance other that what you already want to perceive their point of view to be based on what you see online. Just focus on supporting the scene without feeling the need to compare to America.

@@KRXOVRmedia annoyingly you’re right to a degree, I didn’t think of it like that but I guess it kinda is. For me it’s more I get pissed that the artists I’ve been listening to since I was a kid don’t get the recognition they deserve. Like US artists can come over here, sell shows, sell their music, get fans etc, and we love them, but our artists that try to come their are shut down as soon as people hear they’re British. To be honest mate I’m not 100% sure what my thought process is on this, I’m more thinking out loud. It’s all love from me anyway.

It's all good, man. It's good conversation regardless. No need to be embarrassed. I appreciate you contributing either way.

It's a case of relatability I guess.. as Brits, we relate to UK hip hop because it's about our country and is homegrown. Americans relate to their hip hop too & therefore have a deeper connection to it than we do. We can still appreciate American hip hop as it birthed the genre and let's be honest.. is good! There's no need for territorial warfare over music taste, just enjoy what you enjoy. (Let's also not forget that our country is small compared to the rest of the world & our entertainment industry isn't as global as it used to be - despite that, we're building that back up slowly)
