That young lad, Samrat Majumder, played that Ponce beautifully. The intro theme is so happy and full of sly humour in its returns, it really was great to hear. He really played, as Mr. Steidl says, technically very well. I thought it was a mighty fine performance.

Samrat Majumder is already quite expressive in this interpretation. I think it is more question of confidence, tension, and relaxation rather than a lack of expressivity.

Samrat was very fresh with the piece at this time and this class helped give him the confidence and validated many of his musical ideas so he could really fly with the piece. 👍

I was entranced by Samrat's playing of this piece. I have been trying to learn it for years. To me it was mostly flawless and beautifully expressed. At this point, all that remains is to express it more eloquently, which Pavel was transmitting. Thank you.

This sounds like a very promising pretty piece of music to try and learn.

This is so great! He is a wonderful teacher. Its all about bringing out the musicality, not about technique. I learned a great deal from this, I play things way too 'flat'. I started to sing along with my playing when practicing.

Well, really it is a triflingly, little, tadddishly bit, about technique. While I think that the music is the goal, that goal is entirely unattainable without the stable foundation that is a well rounded technique. Btw that 'singing along' with your practicing will be invaluable in helping aural development. 👍

Dear Matthew, do you know the name (commercial or common) of the support used by the student? Thanks beforehand, and greetings from Venezuela.

Excellent video. However, technique and expression must be taught in tandem once a student is beyond the most elementary levels. Many contemporary musicians confuse technical virtuosity with artistry. It produces robotic players. After all, Music is one of the deepest expressions of Man. Pavel has it right.
