Paula set herself up for failure in this relationship. Harvey had a meltdown because Donna stopped working for him. She really expected Harvey to just let Donna go just like that?

The fact that Harvey had a meltdown because of that is even worse because it proves that donna meant much more to him than what he said. Paula is not to blame. In fact she was definitely right on the fact that there were 3 people in that relationship.

Yes, Paula expected Harvey to let Donna go. In the scene of parting the whole range of emotions on her face show this. : the joy of seeing him, the compassion accompanied by those formal apologies and then the bewilderment when she seems to not understand and can't believe what Harvey is saying shows that Paula was convinced that Harvey would fire Donna. What did he do to believe that? It was that "big thing" the dinner with his mother. The fact that Harvey introduced her to his mother made her think that their relationship was strong enough to persuade Harvey to give up Donna.

For what it's worth, most bosses don't have a relationship with their secretary like Harvey and Donna. She didn't demand he fire her. She said I can't be with you if you continue to work together. So he didn't fire her, instead, he tried to put her in a new position. So let's be real, most women can't even handle their man looking at another woman so you know they couldn't be with a man who is more emotionally connected to his secretary than them. Paula feelings are valid because where there's smoke, there's fire. Season 8 proved that. What Paula should've done is remove herself from the situation. The moment you have to tell him to disconnect from another woman and he's reluctant, you already know what you have to do.

Honestly, this is a terrible place to find yourself in, there is no winning and you can make any move you want but at this point the relationship is already over. You can't help but be jealous, that's an inescapable reality, and you can't ask him to fire her, that's unfair and also controlling, and you can't ask him to change jobs because he will forever be resentful and also does not solve the problem of Donna existing at all, there is no condition that I can see under which this problem can be resolved. The best outcome I think could be continuing to be jealous and figuring out a way to manage the jealousy but it wasn't unfounded jealousy so its just a matter of time before decisions need to be made again. I think I would have probably ended right there. The truth is no matter how much he loved her he didn't love her as much as he loved his secretary and what she did for him.

FINALLY. This is the first comment that actually makes sense!! I don’t understand so many people taking Paula’s side when she is essentially trying to force personnel changes at a company she doesn’t work for because she’s uncomfortable. And for Harvey to actually try to do it to keep his GIRLFRIEND happy? Imagine if we all had a boss like this….it’s insane. If anything she can demand HARVEY get another job but to try and get someone else fired? Paula is the worst and Harvey should be shamed for going along with it at all.

How does a professional relate to her patient? And how can no one see that this was manipulation? She as his therapist knew that as much as Harvey wouldn't admit the feelings she had for Donna he liked her, it's hypocritical of her to ask or question their relationship, if she entered the relationship with him knowing how he always felt she was obliged to swallow that or herself to leave, she just spoke softly and used excuses to get Harvey to cut Donna out of his life.

This entire plotline is batshit and should never have been written. Paula went from being a character I respected to someone with extremely bad judgement. Even with the legal lapse of a year, I found it very ick that she was willing to date a former patient. In addition, since he was her patient, she knew he was in love with Donna and chose to date him anyway. And on top of that, it is never okay to ask your bf to fire someone just because you're threatened by them. If you feel like your partner is not committed, break up with them.

Harvey should set clear boundaries, and be professional. And if Paula would wake up, she would see she is fighting a loosing battle. Paula apostó por Harvey pensando en "corregirlo", pero desde el inicio ya tenía la partida perdida.

I agree with most of this. I just didn't like that Harvey gave in and sought to have Donna go to another company. Paula, caved into feelings she developed for her handsome and charismatic patient, but she should have been stronger and not start a relationship with him. She knew his feelings for Donna, she failed to push him during the sessions to get him to confront those feelings, maybe because she herself was developing feelings for him. She too readily agreed to date him when he came to ask her out, which showed she had feelings for him. To me, she crossed ethical lines since she knew his issues weren't fully confronted when they ended the sessions.

Paula was too weak to resist the charm of Harvey who arrived at her door in designer clothes and a fancy car like in her fantasies (just as she was weak when she succumbed to that important patient whose child died of an overdose) . Although she learned from the therapy sessions that all his emotional problems were triggered because of Donna and that she was the woman of his dreams and that they had feelings one for the other, Paula assumed this relationship without being interested in the condition of her former patient . As a professional, when he saw that Harvey was in denial, he should have helped him to recognize his feelings. but she took advantage of her former patient's vulnerability and hoped that an opportunity would arise to get Donna out of his life.

I didn't understand at first how Harvey, who was so elegant and well-dressed and so pretentious in his clothes and who was surrounded by elegant women like Jessica, Donna ,Rachel, could appreciate "that" Paula dress. Then I realized it was a subtle suggestion because it was probably the only decent dress for an elegant restaurant. Sad for the woman's intelligence is that she did not realize and took as a compliment.
