Playing this with tears in my eyes on my 60th birthday alone ... as 1 year ago today my partner and I were together in beautiful lake district on holiday... i didn't realise it would be for the last time before he passed away in the September.. this one was our special songs . I miss him every second of every hour of every day since he's been gone 😢 .

So sorry for your loss, may you find comfort in all of the happy memories you shared
I’ve done a lot of things in my life, but THE moment I cherish the most, that makes me glad I was born, is a two-hour conversation I had with Paul Weller in a crowded bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan on his birthday in 1982. Very, very cool guy.

Then in the early 90’s I discovered alternative rock and have stuck with it since. I didn’t just miss out on Paul Weller but Robert Palmer also. Thanks to YT videos I am being exposed to excellent British music. Great artists! Thanks for the postings.

Wonderful
Paul Carrack famously tells a story about a time when he had hair and was getting a haircut and the chap next to him asked him, "what do you do?" and he replied, "I'm a singer songwriter" and then "Tempted" came on in the shop. He turns to the bloke and says, "Actually, that's me right there" to which the chap responded, "that's Paul Weller".....
Such a beautiful song. One of my favourites ever.

@Ana_D.C.
3 жыл бұрын
@@MrBluesboy21, excuse me, but you are a little confused, and you contradict yourself. Look... If you identify only love and happiness with romantic songs, you're totally wrong... In the XVIII century, an amazing movement called 'Romanticism' was created, and spread to Art (Music is Art too). For example, the visionary novel (and ahead of its time) 'Frankenstein' written by Mary Shelley is 100% full of tragedy BUT is 100% romantic at the same time because is a 'Romanticism' novel. . Britannica: Romanticism movement -> www.britannica.com/art/Romanticism . BBC: Differences between Romance and Romanticism -> www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06d2j1w Another example is this Paul Weller's song. Full of passion, love, nostalgia and tragedy at the same time. So, for that reason is 100% a romantic song ('Romanticism' Poem) because it's exactly all what you said in your comment. Passion, love, tragedy, nostalgia, sadness, memories, longing, melancholy are also part of the 'Romanticism' movement and romantic songs too.

They’ve produced 20 number one hits and have sold over 188 million records in the US alone. Their primary songwriters were the partnership of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, who composed most of the group’s songs; lead guitarist George Harrison wrote 22 songs. Paul McCartney is the man behind 32 of the band’s number one hits in the US, whereas fellow band member and songwriting partner, John Lennon’s figure stands at 26. 91 of McCartney’s singles reached the top 10, with 33 ranking at number one. Saw Paul at a festival in my younger years and he was on in yhe middle of the day. One of my faves and hes was on in yhe middle of the day playing to a much older smaller crowd. When he played this i sobbed my heart out watching him with a spliff surrounded by mums and dads 🤣
I find it perplexing that this song is seen as romantic, even fitting as a wedding dance song. I have read where others perceive it as an ode to unrequited love. I don't think it is either of these. This is a truly moving love song ... but it explores the dark and hurtful recesses that imperfect love can create. • "I'm hanging on the wire, For love I'll never find" - Yearning for, but never finding or attaining, the love desired • "You do something wonderful, Then chase it all away. Mixing my emotions, That throws me back again" - The tease of potential possibilities, only to see it all evaporate, confusing and disorienting the writer - Behaviours often seen in narcissists and those with borderline traits • "Said I'm waiting for the change, I'm dancing through the fire, Just to catch a flame" - Fire is excitement/passion/desire - You can grasp the flame, but never hold it; it is always fleeting - Alas, fire is also danger/ire/volatility • "You do something to me, Somewhere deep inside, I'm hoping to get close to, A peace I cannot find" - The comfort of enduring love/compassion/comfort/peace is forever elusive Thought provoking and emotionally charged, this is a true work of art ... and Weller's acoustic performance is perfect in its tone and delivery. But it is most definitely NOT a song about true enduring love, or its unrequited manifestation. Just my $0.02!
Absolutely amazing THANKYOU PAUL
Yeah, you do .. ...with your song Good Music is my eternal love 💓
