I first met and chatted with Simon and Garfunkel backstage after a taping of the “Smothers Brothers” program in 1967, and I attended the Phoenix S and G reunion tour concert (with guests The Everly Bros) about 12 years ago. I never thought I’d still be listening and enjoying this artist for more than 55 years. Everyone posting here has used “national treasure,” so I won’t. Simon’s life would only be better if he’d had a chance to play 2nd base for the Yankees.

The original studio version of The Boxer has to be the most 'complete' recording ever made - immaculate lyrics, beautiful harmony, a crowd singalong chorus, melody, acoustic warmth, ethereal sound for the solo, the echoing drum hits, and the deep, rumbling sounds coming in right at the end. It's hard to think of another recording which comes close - possibly Good Vibrations, or A Day In The Life perhaps, but none which top The Boxer.

Génial ! C'est merveilleux de voir Paul, et toujours au top, j'adore dommage qu'il ne soit pas avec Arti, ce serait bien qu'ils laissent leurs différents de côté, ce serait formidable de les voir tous les deux 😍🤝🤞

The only S&G song I know how to play. Learned it from a squid classmate at DLI in 1975. Great song.
