I got married the year this album was released, sadly my dear wife died last year (2021) after 48 years married. This track was always her favourite and I shed a tear whenever I hear it.

How wonderful that you shared such a treasured and lasting relationship over time remembered so fondly by this tune - until you are reunited once again.

I used to rock my new baby Chloe to sleep to this song. I would move slowly around the lounge room til she slept soundly and then I would lay her down. Later in her short life I heard that she was the life and soul of the party and one who had inspired so many. Sadly she left us in August 2021. Whenever I hear this song it brings back wonderful memories of you Chloe to whom nothing at all was impossible. Miss you so much, my love 😢

God that hurts. I love this song and I have done since being a young teenager.
My favorite from one of the best albums of the 1970's. Crystal clear sound...beautiful.
Dear Paul, if you ever happen to look at these comments, please know that you are loved, we love you, I love you. In my book you are the best songwriter of our generation. By far. Album after album, the gifts you have given. You gave it all. Thank you. Bless you, I hope you are so happy.

Certainly a truly great songwriter - in fact, I would say more of a poet. His work will certainly live on!
The hauntingly beautiful background singer in this song was the incomparable Claude Jeter, lead singer of The Swan Silvertones...regardless of your musical tastes, that group deserves a listen to in order to fully comprehend Claude's range and unbelievable talent.

I was just about to post the same comments about Rev. Jeter and the Swan Silvertones. He's the man who showed Al Green, Prince and so many others how to really use falsetto to express what we feel inside.
One of the best songwriters ever

遠くから夢の楽団が来るところが素敵です😢 ありがとうございます😊👍
True classic!
Paul went to Muscle Shoals to record this after he had heard the Staples do “I’ll Take You There”. He planned 4 days there to get this one song recorded, apparently he was convinced that it would take that long because he wanted that certain sound, Jimmy Johnson and The Swampers got it in two hours! Done! He had plenty of time left, over 3days, to get several songs recorded almost the entire album!
I'm ready for the Mardi Gras March 1st 2022 🎭🎶👸👑

Were having our own Mardi Gras party in Ireland. A pancake and parler games evening.
Mardi Gras originated in Mobile, Alabama. Today is “Fat Tuesday”! It’s a beautiful sunny day. The temperature is going to be in the 70’s. Thank you Paul Simon for sharing this with us!!!
Great song and writer..always love this..
That’s why music is so important…good therapy ❤️
Beautiful...transcendent.
My all-time favorite song ever!! Timeless classic!
Still sends shivers down my spine to this day. In a good way, of course 😊
Bob Dylan is a good song writer of quite a few great songs. Paul Simon is the greatest song lyricist of all time and the writer of hundreds of truly wonderful, meaningful and poetic songs. How on earth did they decide to give the Nobel Prize for Literature to Dylan and overlook Paul Simon. Virtually a crime against humanity!

maybe it is The Pulitzer Prize Board in 2008 's fault ...
I like Art's voice, but between his voice and Paul's song writing, I'll take Paul's song writing any day. This album was SO good.
Beautiful ❤️

Hey Paul. Correct me if I'm wrong but I read you're the reason the Mardi Gras sample was taken out of the movie Wild Style. If it wasn't for Flash and Hip-Hop artists/producers, your corny version would have NEVER seen any royalties.
