Paul Simon - a divine package of great and interesting talents. Real and authentic. His gifts are our gift.

Such a wonderful, beautiful artist. I grew up listening to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Such a wonderful experience for me. I am 70 years old and still love the magic that their songs have brought to me and the world.

Super talent like Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson and Pete Townsend and many more who have made everyone’s life a little more special. Check out his performance at the 911 memorial just beautiful.

I like when he said he does a lot of writing while driving. That's exactly how he wrote the 59th street bridge song "Slow down you move too fast" He was literally driving over that bridge and the song came to him

If you don't really like each other noting can keep you together,arguments are the thing that cheese you off eventually, besides its proof Paul can survive on his own

Paul Simon has written much of the soundtrack of my life. Art Garfunkel taught me to find and sing the harmony line to any vocal.

I think his answer to the question of getting more spiritual or more rational as he got older as "both" shows what a smart guy Paul Simon really is.

Best singer / songwriter EVER. The GOAT.

His description of the feelings you get while creating in a creative mood is correct and it does feel fantastic.

Absolutely, Artie made the songs of Paul famous in the same way that Paul’s compositions made Artie equally famous. I really really admire them both, the best due in music history.

none business, Personally, I consider Paul Simon to be the gr8est singer/songwriter of all time. ;-) No disrespect to greats like Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Jim Croce, Carole King, Jackson Browne, etc.

What a treat to hear an intelligent discussion. Just hearing him talk about the Beatles, having been there, you can see the happy remembrances in his eyes.

Great, great musician, composer, poet. Love the richness of his oeuvre and performance style. Brilliant. Make-up department did a horrible job on him here.

@@theloniouscoltrane3778 Art didn’t write the lyrics but he was very much involved in making the songs so perfect. He spent countless hours in the studio - producing & working on the arrangements. He also wrote melodies & of course sang the songs over& over again to make a perfect sound. He has never been given the credit he deserves.

Oh Paul, the concept of 'flowing energy' comes to many of us trying to create. I believe when I'm plugged in and connected and art just flows, that is a direct line from a higher source, God, Budda, Jesus , ect. Whatever you want to call it, I believe its just coming thru us and using us as instruments. Listening to you for years just soothes me and our teenaged children love your music too. Something great than me or you wants us to keep going...........

Their music was the greatest backing sounds any teenager cld've wished for - appropriate for times we were going through in South Africa in the thick of Nazism Nationalist Party in full throttle under Vorster...People arrested & 'disappeared' / 'suicided thenselves out of 10th Floor windows... "Sounds of Silence" words were SO apt - "Let It Be" - (Beatles)... "Universal Soldier" - (Donovan)..."The Times They are a-Changing" - (Dylan)... "Woodstock" - (Joni Mitchell) "Oh what a time what a time it was... a time of innocence, a time of confidences..." (Old Friends)

God gave him those words in Bridge over Troubled Water, if he knows it or not!!

Well, l would say, looking at the way he dressed and considering the heat in tv studios, one needs to raise his arms more than one time to cool it in - in some way. But you must be right, this guy knows how to dance with those hands.

It must be so difficult to not sound like a fool when you get compared to the Beatles ,especially when you yourself are absolutely superb . Paul Simon has written songs Paul McCartney wish he had to be honest . Maybe paul simon wished he wrote Yesterday thou .

For me ,listening to Simon and Garfunkel is about the lyrics because they are so meaningful . How can you not hear Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Boxer without it affecting you emotionally ?

Because there is pure energy, fresh ideas , concepts flow in the mind that is not aberrated, corrupt, saturated, if you are relax, you can really think more ideas, it comes from "higher being" connecting to a higher power , the spirit gives us power to create, to think, to focus, to meditate. Actually that is what i want to achieve, complete meditation and serenity so i can focus more, you can do more whether skill or talent.

I wouldn't stop at the chemical components for "flow". I think there is definitely a spiritual component. I do believe some songs are inspired.

It is called inspiration.

Creative while driving is similar to being creative while doodling. It frees your mind in certain areas to be creative, probably by accessing your subconscious.

Now the years are rolling by me, they are rocking evenly, I am older than I once was, and younger than I'll be, that's not unusual...No, it isn't strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same, after changes we are more or less the same...

I think this is what Paul is alluding to. He is a worthy instrument.

Melody with instruments are music. Words are just an accompaniment.....Hence why today's music like rap are not real music.
