Wednesday morning, 3 A.M! Lyrics like no other person writes: In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade.... Til he cried out in his anger and his shame, "I am leaving, I am leaving," but the fighter still remains.... All my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity... Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather... People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening... Don't know a dream that's not been shattered or driven to its knees...

Oh Paul, the concept of 'flowing energy' comes to many of us trying to create. I believe when I'm plugged in and connected and art just flows, that is a direct line from a higher source, God, Budda, Jesus , ect. Whatever you want to call it, I believe its just coming thru us and using us as instruments. Listening to you for years just soothes me and our teenaged children love your music too. Something great than me or you wants us to keep going...........

@I M Tibetan or Buddhist prayer beads for meditation mantra counting or, as you said, for jewelry likes. A way that men seem to be comfortable wearing bracelets in nyc lately.

I replied below to say it is not a cross! And not for prayer per se. Buddhist beads for meditation or just for supporting a free Tibet.

    Q. "Are you a spiritual person or a more rational type of person?" - Frederick Skavlan to Paul Simon. Inference, spirituality is irrational, and reason is unspiritual. Kierkegaard and Kepler might not concur. Nor a certain Jesuit French physicist! A. "Of the four Beatles, I'm more like George Harrison" - ie spiritual!

Simon and Garfunkle were much better class of music than the beatles. The beatles were popularized by the young hysterical masses not particularly interested in a deep message or purpose. Yah, yah, yah.

Melody with instruments are music. Words are just an accompaniment.....Hence why today's music like rap are not real music. Its words/poetry (usually bad poetry) first in rap type form with a monotonous beat and 2 cords. Its says a lot about what happened to our culture as a whole...........we exchanged the good for the bad..........When people like the Paul`s are gone we will be left with nothing.....

Kind of a dumb question: As rational and spiritual, should not have to be seen as antithetical to one another.
