Same reason he kept being played out of position to accommodate them because there are some clueless twats out there. Scholes summed himself up there at the end when he described the person we need in midfield and that's someone who makes the team tick. The guy that links that ball out of defence into an attacking move. I've lost count the number of times I've seen our forwards make moves up front waiting fo the threaded pass or the ball over the top, only for the ball to go sideways or back. We need that player with vision and the speed of thought to play those balls.

The understanding that Scholes and Giggs had on the pitch was almost telepathic great world class legends . loved watching them as a West Ham fan but above all a football fan ⚒

Keane and Scholes probably best midfield partnership ever in premier league. For their longevity together and how much they both won. They really complimented each others game

At times at Old Trafford I’d get ‘lost in Paul Scholes’ watching him and not the game. He was mesmerising.

Whenever i tune in a bit late i try to figure out the starting lineups by watching. I remember when Cleverly was in the side he was always the last one to identify. We seemed so anonymous. Scholes was always the first.

There is a story of when Butt, Scholes, Gary Neville etc all came through the academy to play in their first season with the first team. Butt picked up a boiling kettle and held it behind Schmeichel and when Schmeichel sat down the kettle burned him. Big Pete chased Butt right around the training ground shouting at him.

Couldn’t tackle for shit but even as a Liverpool fan Scholes done the holding midfield role and gave master class every week, football in late 90s was amazing

lol,Scholes was a great tackler,he would foul and stop attacks without getting booked,his pressing/standing tackle was also underrated,a lot of our goals came from his pressing.

Kind of a shame Scholes didn't change into that holding role until after he'd retired from international football. That could've been a great way to have him, Gerrard and Lampard in the team at once and make it work. Scholes holding, those two more advanced. England had been playing mostly 442 for about a decade. It just didn't suit the squad they had.

@@wolfpackpete6408 Also a shame that we never saw a Scholes-Carrick combo play for England,they regularly took the piss out of Gerrard/Alonso Lampard/Essien combo's,and went toe to toe with the Xavi-Busquest-Iniesta trio. Gerrard was a CAM,Lampard was a CAM,playing two CAM's in international football was madness. Scholes and Carrick knew each others game inside out,and were far better suited to the slower pace of international games.

not a man utd fan but Paul Scholes was world class, he could of played for any club any country. England career ruined by Sven, a joy to watch him play and nice to hear him compliment not just barca mardrid players etc but acknowledge playerlike Gerrard, Lampard Bergkamp etc class on and off the pitch

It all just went to quick one minute he was making his dedut for the team and the next minute he was retiring. Only now I am beginning to realize just what a fantastic player that he really was.

Watching Webby & O’Neill trough this season with all great guest appearances and not least hearing the opinions from these 2 gentlemen has been such a treat and looking forward to next season with the best fan channel on you tube. When thinking of the quality content they provide the ammount of subcribers should be much higher. So with a win on wednesday against Villareal and some new impact players coming in this summer we can hopefully take the step and knocking City off their f****g perch.

They’ve got good guests but sometimes the perspectives offered a tad one dimensional. Though I am nit picking and this doesn’t detract from the incredibly high profiled guests that appear on the channel and access Webby and O’Neill have to them. Other channels can only dream of such access. Those channels are more engaging for fans to discuss things which is just different to this one.

Here is a story about Paul Scholes,Me and my missus were in Compton California and we walked into a place that I think was owned if not it was certainly run by a American/Mexican gang (Don't quote me think Surenos) anyway its full of this Mexican firm, white vests, long shorts, face and neck tattoos the whole 9 yards thought right away we need to get out of here sharpish, We turned round and my missus said have a look over there,You would never guess, on the wall was a framed photo of, yep Paul Scholes. To cut a long story short we had no problems we had a great chat with the fellas in there all of them we spoke to were big fans of Scholsey. Thanks for saving our arse Paul we appreciate it.

To me this past season has been like watching a succession of top quality training matches, just look at the amount of games both liverpool and man u have lost at home, it really has shown me how much of a part fans play in the game, but great call on Giggsy, greatest premiership player of all time for my money, and I'm no man u fan.

I was once playing football, just a kick about really on this pitch called cascy and Paul and his son was there we didn’t bother them cos he was with his son but our ball went over to them and Paul pass the ball back to me most have been a 40-50 yard pass and the ball just dropped right at my foot was incredible, I also met him at Oldham Athletics ground he was just sat in the home end was only like 8 years old, great player and nice guy

Zidane was nowhere near the real Ronaldo between 1995 to 1999. He was the best player in the world during that period. Had his knees not blown out twice in the space of year. He'd have completely dominated the era just before the Messi - CR7 era.

I think giggs didn't really forefull his potential as a player ,that may sound crazy given his trophy all but I think he could off been so much better given his natural talent ,right foot, heading he never seemed to develop them which would off took him to world class rather than great player . Ronaldo wasn't as talented but he worked at his weakness and became the best
