Paul Rudolph's Walker Guest House Replica at The Ringling

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Sarasota Architectural Foundation presents a nearly exact replica of Paul Rudolph's Walker Guest house which still exists and is in use today by its owners on Sanibel Island. (The space that would have been the bathroom in the original has been modified to allow for ADA access to this exhibit). For more information on architecture in and around Sarasota, check out the SAF's website at www.saf-srq.org Visit the exhibit between Nov 6, 2015 and October 6, 2016 at The Ringling Museum - Note that you do not need to pay admission to the galleries to see this wonderful piece of architecture.

I love the pulley system for the flaps. And the windlasses give it a nautical look.

This is the replica of the "Walker Guest House" (architect Paul Rudolph), constructed as a temporary exhibit by the Sarasota Architectural Foundation on the grounds of the Ringling Museum, Sarasota, Florida, in November 2015 - October 2016. The original house, built in 1952, is still standing on Sanibel Island, Florida. THANKS for sharing Liam!

THANKS again, Liam. To clarify the admission/ticket/price issue for any potential visitors: The grounds of the Ringing Museum are FREE OF CHARGE to the public (since it is owned by The University of Florida). At the admission desk, you only need to say that you will be visiting The Walker Guest House Replica (which is also free-of-charge). There is no need to give any money, unless you want to visit the Ringling Museum of Art, The Ca d'Zan (John Ringling Mansion), The Circus Museum and/or the Historic Asolo Theatre, in which case you will be given an appropriate wristband in return (That is, you will not be given a wristband if you walk the grounds, and can therefore not get into any of the buildings listed above). I apologize for the long explanation, but it is important to emphasize that this project by the Sarasota Architectural Foundation (SAF) is free-of-charge and, along with the generosity of The Ringling Museum for hosting the Walker Guest House Replica, is only made possible by the GENEROUS support of SAF donors and the SAF docents who volunteer their time to keep it open and accessible.
