I love this song! One of my favorites.

When I was 4, maybe 5 they had a weekend movie series called friday night flights. The movie Give my regards to broadstreet \ of which this music video was a part of played and gave birth to my love of this music.

I think this actually happen. Paul did exceptional music video.

I don't know why this did not chart high in the USA. At the time, I was a kid listening to this song over and over again in my bedroom. The song (and video) is excellent, and I'm glad that you finally got to hear it. Maybe Paul should re-release this now? The world needs this message...

WOW!!! You are the FIRST person I have seen react to Paul's great video for PIPES OF PEACE, which is a re-inaction of a real event that happened on Christmas Day between British and German troops during World War I , with Paul playing both the British AND German soldiers. Did you notice that the two soldiers exchanged photos of their wives and children, but didn't return the photos to each other before the bomb exploded, so now the British soldier has the photo of the German soldiers wife and child and the German soldier has the British soldiers photo. I think there are 2 reasons this song and LP were given a lukewarm reception here in the States. #1) Pipes of Peace followed his highly successful Tug Of War LP, which had several radio friendly big hits (Ebony and Ivory, Take It Away, Ballroom Dancing, Wanderlust and Here Today) and #2) Besides Say Say Say (with Michael Jackson) it lacked any follow up hits to keep the LP on the charts. With Give My Regards To Broad Street and his 1986 LP Press To Play also receiving lukewarm responses (at best), here in America the days of Paul McCartney ruling the charts had finally ended. Paul's 1989 Flowers In The Dirt LP (and tour which I saw in Berkeley California-awesome concert) was a commercial success, but Macca would never fully achieve the heights he once seemed to exist in throughout the 1960's and 1970's. We are so blessed to still have him in all our lives. Bless you Cim. I hope one day you get to meet Sir Paul. Regards, RNB

Macca ran out of hits in the early 80's. He could have had more big 80's hits, but someone else would have needed to write them, which he would never allow. So in 1989, be accepted the inevitable and became an Oldies act playing Beatle tunes. Not a bad gig.

@@bganey I think his short lived foray with Elvis Costello might've produced some good or even great material. But alas that 'partnership' didn't last. Yielding only a couple finished tracks, and that is just plain sad. Elvis could offer that contrarian point of view Macca sorely needed by this point. (he certainly wasn't going to get it from Hamish Stewart!)f I believe each released 1 song from those writing/recording sessions. Best wishes Bryan, RNB

@The Vinyl Music Life The point I was making TVML was not a judgment on the quality of his LPs in the 1990's and beyond, it was their impact .Pointing out the lack of radio play they received and the significantly shrinking record buying from the audiences of those days. I'd take No More lonely Nights over Goodbye Tonight or Let 'em In any day of the week. But I would choose Flying To My Home, Helen Wheels or C Moon (all 3 are B sides) over Spies Like Us or Pipes Of Peace. Times changed and bless Paul for not resting on his laurels. I saw his Wings Over America concert at the Cow Palace( Daly City Ca) in June of 1976. To this day it's still the best concert I've ever scene live. Better than his Flowers in the Dirt Tour or his 2002 post 9/11 tour. Best wishes, RNB

When I first heard this song, I was also surprised at the composition of this song. The melody is also great. I also love the baseline that Paul McCartney plays! I hope Paul's message will spread more to the world.
