The lack of empathy, by a few in the comments, is a bit disheartening. Sir McCartney is 81 years old, and you want him to just stay home, and not participate in anything? He has given all of us so much, for all these years, helping us grow into the people we are today, we owe him (and the other three) for being part of our lives. So let him age gratefully, and do the best with what he has. Doing what he is doing, at 81, is incredible.

  • @keymusic

I don’t understand why over the last several years he hasn’t just lowered the keys on the songs. He can still sing but he just can’t sing anywhere near as high as he used to. A lot of other people as they get older will take the keys down so they still sound good. I don’t understand why he feels he has to do everything in the original keys? If he was to do that there would be far less criticism about his voice. IMHO

Paul Mcartney can sit at home any day he pleases, because he is one of the last two surviving members of the most famous band in the world ever, unlike those slagging him off, you are nothing, nobodies, the world will move on and nobody will ever know you lived. Unlike Paul, everyone in the world knew of him.

@markpaul1154 Thank you for reminding us of Ringo! We love Sir Paul, and while we see an emotional performance honoring a departed friend, some may also see a performer who is aging and sings differently than he did when he was younger. Regardless of anyone’s opinion everyone is amazing and will be remembered by some. Paul is an icon and will be remembered by most!

Paul had such a beautiful versatile voice all his life. Time (and smoking) affected his voice but I see a super confident man who doesn’t care what people will think. He wants to sing for his friend and so he does. He’s such an inspiration. Outside his change in singing voice, I still see a boy full of energy and talent ( he really doesn’t feel like an almost 82 year old). We should celebrate he’s still healthy and around vs hiding and fading away. I can’t imagine a world without Paul, a beacon of mental strength, intense work ethics and energy.

I had the privilege of meeting Sir Paul a few months ago, on the anniversary of the release of his first album in 1964, when he impromptu started singing in a public place. He was singing snippets of Beatles songs into his Iphone and had such an incredible voice that I had to go over and introduce myself and thank him for singing. I was naïve on what he looked like today and in complete denial that it could possibly be him in my town, but I knew I was listening to somebody who was unbelievably gifted. Paul did not let on who he was, but I figured it out after the fact. On this video, he is singing for a friend, and it is really hard to sing music when holding back emotions of sadness, yet he pulled it off. I hope he will read this comment because I want him to know that one of my third graders performed Let it Be (singing and on piano) at my school’s talent show this year because he loves the Beatles and thinks the world of Paul McCartney. Partway through the song, my student yelled at everybody in the audience to sing along, and everybody did! The kids knew the lyrics and it was wonderful to hear all the kids singing along. I hope he knows that his impact doesn’t just reach adults and that he is still inspiring a new generation of kids. What an amazing inspiration he is to all of us, and on so many levels.

I think he made a sign to the singers that walk into the stage behind Don Henley, 🤷🏼‍♂️ anyway the drummer yes he did that very important groove that is very distinctive in the song 👍

How wonderful to see Paul, who I met at his father’s home in Heswall, just over the Mersey from Liverpool. He looks amazing, I’m sure the vegetarian diet keeps him so slim and fit at 81 years old.

He hit that high note perfectly! I’m not even a die hard Beatles fan, but knowing the impact of their music, and to see the Eagles onstage with Paul, knowing all that these musicians have been through in their lives, I’m actually shedding tears

I lived in The Keys from '82-'97 with my brother fresh out of school. We both loved Jimmy and he was a huge part of my time there. We often reminisce about how lucky we were to (having grown up in New England) experience The Keys before they got commercialized. We would see Jimmy often when he was in town and watched his transformation from having a little Carribean Soul boutique next to Turtle Kraals, to the Duval St. location, and then the explosion of all the Margaritaville's worldwide. I had seen him perform many times. Some of my favorites are, Marine Stadium in Miami '86 (Live by The Bay) with him in a Pier House Tee (You don't have to sleep with us to have a good time) and a pair of White OP chord shorts (Common Keys attire of the day). Also, I was in the beer business and Jimmy at that time endorsed Corona (a brand, new to the East Coast then) So we would drop seemingly large quantities off at his home or studio next to Evalina's Schooner Wharf Bar, for all of Jimmy's gypsies in the palace. He invited us to a private gig a few days before Margaritaville Key West opened. Still had plywood blocking the front of the place. Many famous people came that night as well as some important musicians. They (select Coral Reefers and friends) played till 2am, drinking from the bottle. My girlfriend at the time got on stage and danced with Jimmy for a few spins. Fun night. Also went as Captain Tony's guest when he was Mayor, to a Manatee benefit at Wickers Field KW. Jimmy had brought in a 10-piece steel drum band from Trinidad and their back up harmony singers. Amazing! Although I have seen him all over in Stadiums and other large venues, my favorite is the very rare occasion he would play a small acoustic set at the Chart House. My love of his music is the softer side. The Parrot Head thing was fun, but true Buffett fans like nothing more than being moored off Key West on a warm February night with the A1A, Living and Dying in 3/4 Time, Havana Daydreaming, or You Had to Be There album playing. Maybe taking the dingy in and having a few glasses of wine and a nice dinner at Louies Back Yard. Thanks for the romantic memories, Jimmy. Like a Louis L'Amour novel you gave me/us a lifetime of wonderful tales. To have Sir Paul play Let it Be for your great friendship, even the most restless could rest in peace. Many more memories of Jimmy, but it's nice to simply hold them close to my heart. As my brother would say "Life in South Florida in the 80's! We Lived It!"
