The beautiful performance «The Origin of Death» by Paul Maheke in collaboration with musicians Ndobo-emma and Adrian Barstad Andresen! Performed at the museum this summer, next stop will be Lafayette Anticipations in Paris, 16 and 17 of September. The Origin of Death reflects on different forms of interconnectedness and further delves into Maheke’s interest in exploring how dance, sound, and identity dialogue. By utilising storytelling from a range of sources: from sci-fi to diaristic notes, early sketches and texts (both found and written by the artist), as well as music and movement, the performance takes the shape of a meditation on the tenuous border between alterity and otherness via the figure of the vampire. Performed in collaboration with musicians Ndobo-emma and Adrian Barstad Andresen.

Paul Maheke’s (born 1985, France) multidisciplinary practice spans video, installation and sculpture through to interventions, dance and public conversations. His work has been shown in solo presentations at High Line Art, New York (2022), The Renaissance Society, Chicago, Illinois (2021); Collection Pinault, Paris, France (2021); Chisenhale Gallery, London, England (2019); Vleeshal Centre for Contemporary Art, Middelburg, Netherlands (2018); and South London Art Gallery, London, England (2016).
