Wenbenyama is what you call a REAL competitor. He puts in as much work as it's humanely possible because he knows that that's the difference between being successfull or not. He's scared of no one, played against very agressive and strong thirty year olds in the french league (Monaco for instance had 7 ex-nba players on their roster). He isn't coming out of college basketball where you play against guys your age group. He's just way above technically and physically with still lots to come. I won't say he'll be the GOAT but he'll definitely be on the same line. NEVER seen anything like someone in his age group.

I watched the GS vs Spurs game. I saw a Big man in Whemba reminded me of what the old heads always said about Wilt, Bill Russell, and Kareem. Whemba and Chet very similar to the way Wilt Bill Russell and Kareem were to the league when they played are affecting the game. Most argue that the big men back in the day weren't that good and wouldn't be a factor in today's game because guys are more skilled, bigger faster stronger, and have handles that those players have never seen. And they shoot threes nowadays at a higher rate so they wouldn't even be a factor against players of today like the Splash brothers. Curry and Clay. And often time because they feel that way automatically leave them out of any GOAT talk. But I saw Whemba dominate a game with no NBA experience, outta shape still, and still trying to learn his way. I saw GS with all its shooters even at the 3 pt line looking around, pump-facking, and shooting faster than usual because Whemba was in their heads. Because he was blocking shots everywhere. From 3, mid-range, lay-ups, and then running out and dunking on folks' heads, shooting threes, posting folks up, shooting from the elbow, finishing threw contact. Making folks look and feel like Wilt, Bill, and Karreem made NBA players feel in their eras. We have no Answers for this. People like to think that players can't evolve and learn. If I were to take a player from 2344 and brought him back in time to 2023/24 players today would take notes from his game and start doing it themselves. That's what humans do. We learn we evolve we duplicate. It's how that game grows. So to think that players from the past or present couldn't play in either era doesn't pass the logic test. Whemba and Chek are showing everyone what old heads try but fail to describe to fans and players today what it would look like if you dropped Wilt, Bill, and Karreem in today's NBA when they were in their Prime. Sometimes you have to see it in real time to understand what they are saying. Whemba just showed you against GS how an Athletic and very skilled Big man can dominate a whole game that includes 3pts shooters and guys with elite handles and how they dominated in the past. That's why they won as many Chips as they won and deserve to be in the TOP 5 players of all time and any GOAT talk.

Lol there’s no transition, nba basketball is not levels above Euroleague the arrogance of draymond and pg lol … the euroleague is a tougher basketball league , from a strategy, tactical standpoint , players think the game at a high level, more physical…. The nba just has more dynamic talent, more superstars, elite iso players and faster transition offense … lucky for me I was exposed to both leagues so there’s no bias. 100% agree I have a similar experience to yours. The Euroleague is a highly competitive league that regularly produces not only NBA-level players but NBA stars. Moreover, European kids receive much better fundamentals in their game than American ones. When you consider how much more basketball is known and played in the USA compared to Europe, you start to wonder if the European system might be better than the US one. As for the professionals: players in the euroleague are not protected by referees as much as in the US. Many Euroleague players can be tough and physical. You really need to be mentally tough to play against some of these teams.

Secondly people say nba teams beat up on Euroleague teams in exhibition games … well if so brave , I dare the NBA teams to go play the top euro league teams in their arena , fiba rules and fiba refs…. Let’s play international basketball rules , format , style , let’s play where the final score will be 83-97 point range, international tactics and strategies through one single game switches up so much, the real chess match .. let’s see how much nba teams would blow euro league teams out the water

Euro kids learn the half court from a strategic angle , they learn how to play when slowed down, they all know how to play point initiate offense from guard to post, ball movement, playing with heart and togetherness , euro kids are less worried about stats … American kids are pressured more to have big outstanding stats to be considered a prospect , European kids are scouted on high intelligence , iq, fundamentals, mental toughness , performance , selflessness …. 20 lbs in 4 months is out of any charts also for a 7"4.(btw being tall doesn't helps taking muscle fast) Is 1.25 points of muscle each week, you have an idea how much proteins you have to assume to make 1.25 pounds in one week? Wemby is/was officially 94kg then he must take at least 190g/day of pure proteins to keep an athletic level of his muscles, to grow up that much he must take at least 250-280 g/day of proteins and is huge is almost 4 times what a normal person of his weight will take. Meat contain around 26g of protein for 100g . That means he as to eat +1kg of meat each day. if his only proteins intake is meat. Not that easy doing this for 4 months

Hoping Wemby settles into that Kareem body for longevity. He needs to just get stronger with a lean healthy muscle mass and maintain that crazy flexibility he has. Heavier and bulkier is not necessarily better. Just look how many games Zion plays a year.

Spurs knows how injury prone anyone at his height can be. They gonna load management his ass at least his rookie season. Taking more jumpshots rather than slashing to the rim on screens etc. They'll ease Wemby's body to nba slowly but surely.

Yes, but I don't think it matters; look at the torque at the knee when he's moving around the opponent. Why do we need 7'5" dudes crossing over and going around guys w the dribble? Why do we need to have them way in the air catching lobs? I hate to see it. Phil Jackson, who had had many awful injuries, was one coach who was really focused on creating a system of play that would allow players to make it through 100 games. Kareem was also very focused on adjusting his style of play for longevity. Better to play like Jokic, who is virtually never injured. I don't think I've ever seen him out of control. @@angiej06

The only realistic assessment of Victor right now, is that he’s an excellent prospect, with a very unique skill-set and a very high ceiling. People should stop acting like they expect him to be better than Duncan, Shaq and Hakeem. Like he’s going to be. Top 10 player of all time. Because in most likely he won’t be that. He’s probably just gonna be a very good ball player, maybe even a great player, all-star caliber, maybe all nba caliber. Stop with all the hype.
